https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=467090 --- Comment #10 from Maik Qualmann --- As an alternative, we currently have a nightly digiKam build. This is compiled with the MSVC Microsoft compiler and is even signed. It's not complete yet though, so it doesn't currently have HEIF support. However, instead of QWebKit, it uses the modern QWebEngine (based on Chromium). The path to ExifTool has to be changed in the digiKam setup because exiftool.exe is in the "bin" subfolder. [plasma-pa] [Bug 465301] 5.27: Microphone indicator and popup display conflicting information upon toggle
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=465301 --- Comment #9 from Prajna Sariputra --- I think I found the source of the problem on my Arch install, it appears to be because I had KMix installed but with autostart disabled in its settings. Deleting `~/.config/kmixrc` fixes the issue at the cost of ending up with two volume icons on the panel, and I also found that forcing KMix to never autostart by copying `/etc/xdg/autostart/kmix_autostart.desktop` and `/etc/xdg/autostart/restore_kmix_volumes.desktop` to `~/.config/autostart` and adding `Hidden=true` to both of them plus disabling KMix Daemon in the Background Services KCM also makes the issue go away. In my case I had KMix installed due to just installing the `kde-applications-meta` package, which included KMix among a myriad of other things (I did start with just the `plasma-meta` package first but it turns out that doesn't include basic things like Dolphin or Spectacle due to those being in KDE Gear rather than being part of Plasma so I decided to just drag in the whole kitchen sink and be done with it). So, I guess the real bug here is that KMix somehow interferes with Plasma despite not even actively running, or perhaps the fact that KMix even exists at all since Plasma has its own volume control now. It doesn't even look like KMix is meant to be used outside of Plasma since its autostart files have `OnlyShowIn=KDE` in them too. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

No, I didn't get any warnings. I did see that pkg (libjpeg-turbo8) would be downgraded, but it didn't say anything about removing kde-baseapps. Ubuntu, for example, does offer this during OS installation along with other third-party drivers and codecs and from a UX perspective I believe this makes sense to do. Newer and more casual users looking to break away from other OS manufacturers will have a smoother setup experience and better first impressions. They'll (probably) be running into fewer issues when first starting to use the system and won't have to copy-paste strange commands from the internet into their terminal. Users who perhaps are a bit more experienced with GNU/Linux and more comfortable configuring their system to their needs should of course still be able to opt out of any proprietary software. [frameworks-kxmlgui] [Bug 467130] New: When libkxmlgui gets loaded into a non-qt app it may mess up application's shortcut fremework.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=467130 Bug ID: 467130 Summary: When libkxmlgui gets loaded into a non-qt app it may mess up application's shortcut fremework. Classification: Frameworks and Libraries Product: frameworks-kxmlgui Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kdelibs-b...@kde.org Reporter: fatz...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY When libkxmlgui gets loaded into a non-kde qt app it may mess up application's shortcut framework. This happens because libkxmlgui installs[1] an event filter, which tries to handle shortcuts on its own. Besides it's a quiet dirty practice in general to mess with others global objects with upon lib bootstrap, there are some legit reasons when a non-kde app may load a kde library. i.e. that may happen because the app depends upon a library with optional kde support or via Qt plugin system. The later one is what exactly happened in freecad[2]. So could you please change the libkxmlgui behaviour so it won't install the event filter on library load or at least do it just for kde apps? [kwin] [Bug 431446] Blinking panels and window contents not refreshing
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=431446 KDE Bugs changed: What|Removed |Added CC||bugs@feartoday.net --- Comment #41 from KDE Bugs --- This is happening to me, frequently, it affects everything where a video plays and it frequently affects my taskbar. When I say anywhere a video plays, it can be an advertisement which screws everything up and when it happens, my entire experience in that app goes kaput until I force kill it, so when it comes to videos, once the videos start screwing up (the video frame pauses but the audio continues), I actually can't interface with that program anymore, I have to open a terminal and 'killall ' and re-launch the program to use it again. My taskbar will start to flash icons and it doesn't stop until I change the taskbar some how (minimize/open an app) something to force the taskbar to re-render. I have enabled/disabled every suggestion I can find in regards to the issue (I have had the issue since the day I installed Kubuntu, I have changed the full screen composite, I've changed drivers, I've tried changing settings (that I can't remember anymore)). I'm fully updated, tried both native drivers video card drivers (whatever Ubuntu installs) and proprietary drivers, both do the samething. It's very frustrating; I can't even make it through a full episode of a TV show before my system starts doing this. KColorSchemeManager: don't override color scheme set by platform theme This allows to have Qt platform theme setting the color scheme before it gets set and overriden by KColorSchemeManager. Since many KDE apps rely on using KColorScheme, it can happen that they will use a color from KColorScheme that doesn't correspond to QPalette set through the platform theme and end up being broken.
