My own bug was marked as a duplicate of this so I read through the comments. I
think there should be changes to the Overview:

* if more than one row, show at a minimum the row that the current VD belongs,
with a scroll to change the displayed row
* A configuration option in the Overview settings to collapse all rows into a
single row for the purposes of displaying in Overview

SUMMARY
Moving a window between virtual desktops in desktop grid is inconsistent,
sometimes it works and sometimes it will just return back to where it started.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open desktop grid with Meta+G
2. Drag a window between virtual desktops

OBSERVED RESULT

Mouse offset

SUMMARY
Since the update, if I snap Firefox to the top the mouse seems to be offset a
number of pixels compared to where the actual cursor is. It also affects the
content in sites, not just stuff in Firefox.
Looks like it’s not just when it’s snapped, but as soon as it passes about the
top 90% of the screen. Just took a screenshot, where you can see the cursor is
hovering over Other Bookmarks, but it’s activating the menu above it.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Firefox (not fullscreen)
2. Meta+Left Mouse to move Firefox to the top-right of the screen

OBSERVED RESULT
As per attached screenshot, mouse will be offset an increasing amount compared
to how close it is to the top of the screen

EXPECTED RESULT
Mouse activates where the cursor is.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.1
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0
Qt Version: 6.6.2
Kernel Version: 6.7.8-zen1-1-zen (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor
Memory: 31.3 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti/PCIe/SSE2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Happens regardless of if the bottom panel is set to floating or not. I found
that if I maximize Firefox, then meta+Right-click drag to resize the window the
mouse doesn't get offset, or if I don't move it from it's position where it was
originally launched.

Ok, that's confusing because Desktop Grid is still present in shortcuts in
system settings. Meta+G does work fortunately. I was just trying the Show
Desktop Grid shortcut which here is Ctrl+F8.

So "Grid" does work, but i'm unable to set it under Screen Edges as I was able
to prior to 6.0.0.

That specific bug appears to have been resolved with Driver 343.36:

* Fixed an OpenGL issue that could cause glReadPixels() operations to be
improperly clipped when resizing composited application windows, potentially
leading to momentary X freezes.

I don't think it's the same problem. I don't have any problems with Steam
notifications, it's specific to Plasma.

[plasmashell] [Bug 432097] New: Slow/skipping mouse behaviour

2021-01-25 Thread Matty R
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432097

Bug ID: 432097
   Summary: Slow/skipping mouse behaviour
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.20.5
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: d...@rhoatech.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
Every so often (10-15 mins) the mouse movement slows and seems to skip around
the screen. My system was originally running a Nvidia GPU, which I then swapped
to an AMD GPU (After removing all nvidia packages) and I immediately began
noticing this odd mouse behaviour.

I reformatted the system and reinstalled but I still noticed the mouse slow
downs/skipping. I have tried using X11, and Wayland - both exhibit the same
problem.

I've run a number of benchmarks and did not encounter any drops in performance
when this problem occurs (CPU or GPU). I also ran evhz to monitor the polling
rate, and did not encounter any changes to the polling rate when the problem
occurs.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Move the mouse
2. After some time either idle on the desktop, or in a game

OBSERVED RESULT
Mouse slows/skips around the screen

EXPECTED RESULT
Mouse moves smoothly

Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.78.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2
Kernel Version: 5.10.8-zen1-1-zen
OS Type: 64-bit
Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor
Memory: 31.3 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: AMD SIENNA_CICHLID

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I tried to record the behaviour using SimpleScreenRecorder but strangely, the
recording did not exhibit the same problems with the mouse despite it being
visible on screen.
