[kwin] [Bug 489806] Make it possible so that background window does not raise when starting a drag (mouse down), but does on click
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=489806 Scott Jenson changed: What|Removed |Added CC||sc...@jenson.org --- Comment #1 from Scott Jenson --- This is actually a well known (and very old) pattern that is used on both Macs and Win machines. My understanding is that there is a setting to control this behavior but there are two issues: 1. It's off by default 2. Even on, it's not quite implemented right If fixed, having this on has zero negative effects so I'd argue, it should be on by default As it's currently implemented, turning this on requires 2 clicks to raise the background window which is a missed opportunity as it's not required. A much simpler flow is: 1. There are two windows, a background SOURCE window and a foreground TARGET window 2. MouseDown in SOURCE highlights the icon and starts a drag, SOURCE is NOT raised. 3. If the user does a MouseUp at this point, SOURCE raises (and the icon is still selected) 4. If instead the user starts to drag to TARGET and release, SOURCE still does not raise This handles all cases of raising: click still raises a window but dragging a background window is still possible without raising. Better UX overall and no setting needed. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 6.0.1 Platform: Arch Linux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: major Priority: NOR Component: wayland-generic Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: cru...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Apologies, I'm not an expert in graphics/compositing/drawing, so please let me know if I can provide any other info. Using Plasma 6 (which I understand is wayland), stutters and redraws previous frames. For example, in Guake, when typing, characters will appear, but sometimes the most recent character would disappear (reverting back to a state before the keypress?). Or when backspacing, the characters will disappear, but occasionally reappear. I tried to capture a video (with my cell phone - I didn't trust screen capture to "see" compositing glitches). The HTML rendering in Google Chrome was also glitchy. Reddit had elements flickering/disappearing/reappearing. I also captured stuttering on a YouTube video. I've have example videos of YouTube and typing stuttering in Google Chrome, but issues affect much more than just Chrome: my Jetbrains IDEs, Guake, etc, etc. YouTube video stuttering: https://photos.app.goo.gl/RmJwtWZDdp4uvAyH9 Typing stuttering: https://photos.app.goo.gl/XDtJ2LGgZKEer61J8 STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481548 --- Comment #4 from Scott Petrovic --- Yes. I think they way it works now is because of how the new website logic is showing posts - and that is carrying through to the application. 1. English - Always just shows English of course 2. Chinese - Tries to get chinese news, but will show English post if it is not translated Now if you are in the Krita application and select both English and Chinese, There will be a lot of duplicate English posts as the Chinese language also shows English...in addition to the English posts. Chinese does not just show Chinese news with the new system. That was a recent change that was requested. [kde] [Bug 476973] New: HDDs conected to plug-in SATA card classified by Dolphin as Removable Devices rather than Devices
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=476973 Bug ID: 476973 Summary: HDDs conected to plug-in SATA card classified by Dolphin as Removable Devices rather than Devices Classification: I don't know Product: kde Version: unspecified Platform: RedHat Enterprise Linux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org Reporter: shagooser...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY I have 11 HDDs 3 of which are connected to a SATA expansion card ad these disks are classified as Removable Devices by Dolphin rather than Devices. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Plug a SATA expansion card into a PCIe lane and connect a SATA HDD to it. 2. Open Dolphin and find it's classified as removable storage. 3. OBSERVED RESULT As above EXPECTED RESULT That either Dolphin detects that the SATA card is plugged into a PCIe slot and hence assumes internal drive or I have the ability to nominate if it is internal or removable. Attempt to input notes on the tracker matrix OBSERVED RESULT One keypress is registered, then keyboard focus is deflected away from Renoise. No idea where it goes. Clicking re-latches it. Renoise does not indicate that the focus has gone elsewhere in Renoise. EXPECTED RESULT Keyboard focus remains persistent on Renoise, allowing the software to be used. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: Devuan GNU/Linux (also observed in Arch Linux and Debian Stable) (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.2 (observed as old as 5.7, untested prior) KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: 5 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Observed consistently in KWin wayland sessions for the majority of the history of the history of KWin as a wayland compositor, when using Renoise. Previously seen in Ferdi as well, seems to have been fixed their-end as of the fork to Ferdium. Issue does not present in KWin X11 sessions, nor any other wayland compositor (ruling out a Renoise issue). Issue has been final blocking item to using Plasma in Wayland for multiple years for myself and I had wrongly assumed that it would have already been reported. Bug is more likely to happen quickly if the session has been running for at least four hours, but is always a "matter-of-time" subject, and not a "will-it-happen" subject. Longest I have been able to continually use Renoise for in a Plasma 5 wayland session was 25 minutes, directly after boot and going straight into Renoise. Shortest was 10 seconds, 5 days after boot. If relevant, this has been observed using locally-built from-git mesa on AMD graphics hardware using the amdgpu and radeonsi driver set. This has not been tested with distro mesa on debian or devuan, but was present with distro mesa on arch linux. This has been tested with only one keyboard, which presents one keyboard, two mice, and one controller device, to the operating system. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=465402 Bug ID: 465402 Summary: Some albums duplicated and not able to delete duplicate. Classification: Applications Product: Elisa Version: 22.08.2 Platform: Ubuntu OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: matthieu_gall...@yahoo.fr Reporter: shagooser...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY *** In the case of the band ACDC there is an issue where some metadata uses the name ACDC and others AC/DC which results in 2 artist collections for the same artist. The issue of getting all albums into 1 artist's collection can be accomplished by editing the file's metadata, however there does not appear to be a way to delete the duplicated entries, ie. I change the metadata from band name AC/DC to ACDC and I now have the same album appearing under 2 artists. This could be caused by having both names names appearing somewhere in the list of tags of the various files but in the case of the album High Voltage I have checked every file's tags 1 & 2 and that is not the case. I have reset database and rescanned everything repeatedly. *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. need to collect several ACDC albums and run Elisa 2. 3. [Elisa] [Bug 464965] Elisa only detects or even plays some albums
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=464965 --- Comment #5 from Scott --- After further investigation I have now edited the metadata and got Elisa to detect all albums. Part of the problem relates to a "deal" when I originally purchased this album decades ago back in the '70s when an additional track(s) were released/sold with the album and some problems with the metadata data in the metadata files I used from Discogs. So the problem appears not to be an Elisa problem and this bug can be closed because it is not a bug. It would be helpful though if this metadata issue could be referenced somewhere in the scant app documentation. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[Elisa] [Bug 464965] Elisa only detects or even plays some albums
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=464965 --- Comment #4 from Scott --- As I said in my last post I found some albums once I realised some had been put in another artist, ie. some albums are in artist ACDC and others in artist AC/DC, also some are in both. Once I had a combined list I added a Format.jpg file to each album folder that did not have this file and did a reset database and rescan everything. This is the album it won't recognise: https://www.discogs.com/release/673094-ACDC-High-Voltage. Of note, this is the band's first album only released in Australia and New Zealand and an album with the same name but different tracks was released internationally (first international album) at a later date. Although things are still far from right as shown in the 2 attachments as the albums are split between 2 artists despite them being the same artist. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=464965 Bug ID: 464965 Summary: Elisa only detects or even plays some albums Classification: Applications Product: Elisa Version: 22.08.2 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: matthieu_gall...@yahoo.fr Reporter: shagooser...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY *** I have 20 albums of a famous band but Elisa only recognises 13 of them. The 7 albums not only are not recognised by Elisa they cannot be played manually by Elisa through the right click menu. (1 artist example) *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Scan for music using both methods or 2. Right click album folder and open using Elise OBSERVED RESULT For 1 there is no entry. For 2 nothing happens EXPECTED RESULT For 1 I expect the album to appear in the list of albums For 2 I expect it to play the album SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Kubuntu 22.10 KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.98.0 Qt Version: 5.15.6 Kernel Version: 5.19.0-29-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor Memory: 15.5 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 Manufacturer: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. Product Name: MS-7C35 System Version: 2.0 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I use/prefer the baloo indexing method and the individual songs of the missing albums are indexed by baloo. Over time many of the album folders have accumulated non music files like jpg and desktop.ini. This seems not to matter as some album folders without these extra files are recognised by Elisa. An individual song can be searched and found from the missing albums. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
