Yes, I believe KDE Connect only works when both devices are on the
 same
network, which means you'll either need to be on the same WiFi
 network or
(possibly) on a shared network like a VPN.

No it's just saying that I have to connect to a WiFi network, not a
specific one. My Motorola Razr Plus doesn't have any trusted networks
settings. It has thinkphone security enabled by default with no way to
   modify those settings.

Is it asking you to connect to a specific Wi-Fi network? If so, it
 might be
that you've setup Trusted networks in Settings to only allow your
 phone to
connect using one more specific networks.

balooctl6 still says that these files aren't indexed after renaming them. It
looks like these failed files stay till the database is purged.
I'm quite sure it was an issue with utf 8 iso-8859-1 or something like that, or
there where some updates which sorted things out.
I could purge the database if you want me to, but i'd say case closed.

Thank you

thank you very much for looking into it. No matter what I do, it indexes these
test files. It doesn't crash with my files - but doesn't index them -which is
totaly fine. Probably due tue drm rules.
It could be a naming issue - I'll look into that now

Not directly, but should help developers isolating the potential cause. I also
happen to have a USB-C to DP cable which I can use to test on my external
monitor, which indeed doesn't exhibit the same problem. High refresh rate
(170Hz) even works just fine. So maybe the scope can be reduced to HDMI and DSI
connector, leaving DisplayPort out.

If you don't do that, then when you try to close an app and it
 fails, KWin will
detect this within 5 seconds or so and offer you to force quit it.
 This was
somewhat broken in Plasma 5 on Wayland, but it works fully in
 Plasma 6 Wayland.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=461400

believe it or not, but as I mentioned - upgrading networkmanager (from lunar)
is a valid workaround. I've done this on several machines by now, other people
who tried didn't restart networkmanager or their machines or something else.
But probably we should mention this on a developer channel, but I didn't dare
to do that. What do you think?

It looks like we've found a workaround.
Installing network-manager from lunar repository does the trick
Here you can read why this works:

It seems when you using scaling desktop 150% in wayland session like me, when i
want specify window size in window rules i cant use real resolution. For
example when i put 3000x2000px the real window will by 150% bigger than
3000x2000.

This change some applications behavior. Blender open bigger, qemu gtk is
unusable. Everything in qemu window getting wrong coordinates for cursor. I
don't know is that qemu problem or i need to report it in new ticket here as
kde wayland bug.

It seems like unlimited timeouts / timeouts greater than 99 seconds are
currently broken in pam_fprintd
(https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/libfprint/fprintd/-/issues/147), so this might
not be fixable at the moment.

2023-05-15 Thread Ray Leon

Bug ID: 469810
Summary: Allow unlocking without pressing Enter or moving the

Classification: Plasma
   Product: kscreenlocker
   Version: 5.27.5
  Platform: Archlinux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: maxwellleon55...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I've recently set up fingerprint authentication with the KDE lock screen, but I
still need to get to the password entry screen by moving the mouse before
fingerprint authentication starts working. It'd be nice if I could just press
on the fingerprint reader in order to unlock the screen.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set up fprintd and add 'auth sufficient pam_fprintd.so' to /etc/pam.d/kde
2. Lock the screen
3. Try to use the fingerprint reader without using the mouse

OBSERVED RESULT
Screen should unlock if fingerprint matches

EXPECTED RESULT
I have to disturb the screen somehow before I can unlock it.

org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.sleep-wake no
It's supposed to be that way - "put NetworkManager to sleep or wake it up
(should only be used by system power management"
But probably system power management doesn't set this state?

Going offline (networkmanager) and online again makes akonadi and kmail think
networkmanager is offline too

Has anybody tried a KDE Neon fresh install (not upgraded to stable from Beta or

Status of this issue is resolved but at this point of current stable version of
neon is not working. Is that mean the next or near updates for neon will
provide that cr3 support for Dolphin and Gwenview, so all libs will be updated
and apps will be compiled using newest libs?

I've try

- clear cache (even whole ~/.cache directory)
- plasmashell --replace
- change resolution to 1080p with no scaling
- use native res of my monitor which is 4k (no scaling)
- back to desire scaling - 150% with 4k resolution
- login to wayland (normally still using X11)
- check another computer with same KDE Neon system

All this task won't help. Dots still not disappear.

I went ahead and updated kstars to bleeding on my notebook at lunch (not my
primary production device) and tested it there with simulators. Works great! I
did bode and got the ngc number and then mercury and it put mercury in the
capture spot.
I didn't get into scheduling in this test. Currently running Mint 21 xfce on
acer aspire5/Ryzen3 w/ vega graphics.
I'm at the end of energy doing long nights gathering Jupiter data so I'll do
the same with my production setup tonight, likely the last night I'll stay up
for this one. That system is getting an overhaul in the next week so is a good
time to get do a full run with the new version.

Sorry for the late response. Disabling continuous view doesn't solve the
problem, although I guess it makes it easier to manage since the view's only
moving around on one page if that makes sense.
I also think you're right about the 'increasing view from the upper left
corner' part.

Thanks, I think that fixed it!
Changing "ConversationAddress sender = message.addresses().first();" in
conversationmodel.cpp to
`
>ConversationAddress sender;
>if (!message.addresses().isEmpty()) {
>sender = message.addresses().first();
>}
`
seems to prevent the crashing.
I don't really know how to commit the changes though, would you mind doing
that?
P.S. how do you

[systemsettings] [Bug 449979] New: Text glitching / distortion in various Plasma elements. Notably in systemsettings panels with long lists of entries.

2022-02-10 Thread Ray
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=449979

Bug ID: 449979
Summary: Text glitching / distortion in various Plasma
elements. Notably in systemsettings panels with long
lists of entries.
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 5.24.0
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: raymond.per...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 146560
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=146560=edit
A screencap of system settings with funky text elements

SUMMARY

Unsure when this started codebase-wise, but on Plasma 5.23.5 and now 5.24.0
(the only variants I've tried recently, I literally just got back onto Plasma
the other day) I'm seeing some visual glitching of text elements on various
things within Plasma as I scroll through. Most notably, within systemsettings
on pages with a lot of scrolling entries - Color Schemes, Desktop Effects, etc.
I've seen a number of bugs referencing this in the past, with much more severe
glitches, which were resolved by upstream Mesa changes. This could be related,
or a continuation of the same problem. This is really more of a papercut than
anything - the system is still perfectly usable, and the text will render
normally after scrolling a bit.

Disabling compositing does not affect this behavior. Most other apps, both Qt
and GTK appear to be just fine. It's only within system settings and some other
Plasma core stuff such as Discover.

My system is running an AMD Ryzen 4750U, with integrated Vega graphics, on the
standard Mesa / X11 shipped with latest Arch packages.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open system settings
2. Navigate to a page with a lot of scrolling elements (such as Workspace
Behavior > Desktop Effects)
3. Scroll around

OBSERVED RESULT

Text elements may begin normal, but after some scrolling are rendered
incorrectly - only parts of characters will appear. The text will go in and out
of this state if I scroll further.

EXPECTED RESULT

Fully readable text.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch, X11, kernel 5.16.8-arch1-1, Mesa 21.3.5-1
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.0 (also appeared on 5.23.5)
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.90.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

On further inspection, this appears to also affect certain other UI elements
like nearby checkboxes. This is visible in the bottom half of the attached
screencap.

SUMMARY
When zooming on a multi-page document with touchscreen gestures, Okular also
scrolls through the document rather than staying in place.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

2. Open a document with multiple pages in Okular.
3. Try to zoom using two fingers on the touchscreen.

OBSERVED RESULT
Other pages on the document zoom by. Zooming out increases the page number,
while zooming in increases.

EXPECTED RESULT
The document stays on the same page, as it does when zooming with ctrl + / ctrl

[krusader] [Bug 448647] Krusader sometimes crashes when copying or moving files

2022-01-23 Thread Ray Warnatsch
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=448647

I also had this happen moving directories and sub-directories from one zfs
filesystem into another zfs filesystem. Moving files in the same zfs
filesystem seems to not be an issue.
Hardware: AMD Ryzen 5900x with RX 6900XT
Arch Linux Kernel: 5.16.2
zfs-linux 2.1.2_5.16.2.arch1.1-1
Gnome 41/wayland 1.20.0-1
qt5-base 5.15.2+kde+r294-1 & qt5-wayland 5.15.2+kde+r44-1
Krusader started with: -platform wayland

The resutls are that all the nested directories are created, but it seems none
of the files are moved. Trying again results in a crash after a couple of
write into messages replied to.
Unfortunately not on KDE I have no trace and don't know how to get it to
happen. I did run krusader from the command line (after directories already
created) and I got these messages I don't normally see:
wl_surface@47: error 4: Invalid min/max size
17:20:02.216-warning default unknown@0 # The Wayland connection experienced a
fatal error: Protocol error

Hope that is helpful.

Works correctly if the closing identifier is at the beginning of the line but
not otherwise.
The PHP manual says "Prior to PHP 7.3.0, the closing identifier must begin in
the first column of the line."
The syntax highlighting algorithm needs to be updated to remove this
requirement.
