[neon] [Bug 404217] Could not install KDE Development via search for 'develop': could not resolve dependencies (bad search result?)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404217 Harald Sitter changed: What|Removed |Added Status|NEEDSINFO |RESOLVED Resolution|WAITINGFORINFO |NOT A BUG --- Comment #17 from Harald Sitter --- The package fails to install because one of its dependencies fail to resolve. You could extend the list of packages for installation until they stop being uncorrectable to figure out what went wrong, but it's entirely unrelated to neon. What seems to be the case is that you have the ubuntu bionic-proposed updates enabled (which is where your libnm-dev 1.10.14-0ubuntu1 is from) and something in the proposed pockets is broken and that is blocking the dependency resolution (may either be a current breakage or a previous one which was retracted but is still installed on your system). Not entirely unexpected since proposed is the testing precursor to bionic-updates, so sometimes problems may appear as that is of course the entire point of proposed. In any event, not a bug on our end but on ubuntu's. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[neon] [Bug 404217] Could not install KDE Development via search for 'develop': could not resolve dependencies (bad search result?)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404217 --- Comment #16 from Tim Richardson --- Note that right now, searching for string 'develop' in Discover does not return kdevelop as a search result, at all, although it does return a lot of other IDEs. So this bug is no longer reproducible, but not for a good reason: I would not have encountered the wrongly-described package, but neither would I have found the package I was looking for. tim@moncrief:~$ apt list u--upgradable Listing... OK, so that's a packaging bug in Neon. [neon] [Bug 404217] Could not install KDE Development via search for 'develop': could not resolve dependencies (bad search result?)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404217 --- Comment #6 from Tim Richardson --- It is normal for the same software to appear more than once in Discover. For instance, search for Libreoffice. You will get results from the .deb sources and from flatpak. So the fact that there are multiple hits for KDE Develop is not a bug. There are potentially three matches for an application: .deb, snap and flatpak. Reviews associated with an application sit with the source, so Libreoffice-the-flatpak will have a different set of user reviews than Libreoffice-the-deb. Right now, a search for LibreOffice has one result for 19 ratings, and one with 22 ratings. The icons look the same. When you click through to the details, you can see the source of the app. Right now, the top result is the flatpak version (with 19 ratings). So duplicate entries is not the bug. The problem is that in this case, one of the results does not work. Also, the problem search result does not identify why it is in the search result, I will attached screenshots. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[neon] [Bug 404217] Could not install KDE Development via search for 'develop': could not resolve dependencies (bad search result?)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404217 --- Comment #5 from Nate Graham --- Wait up a sec. Please clarify the actual bug: - The "Develop" entry cannot be installed and gives you an error message - Searching for KDevelop results in both KDevelop and this other "Develop" thing showing up in the search results list We can't have a bug report that tracks two things. Please clarify which of those things this bug report is about. If you want to report another issue, please open another bug report. [neon] [Bug 404217] Could not install KDE Development via search for 'develop': could not resolve dependencies (bad search result?)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404217 --- Comment #4 from Tim Richardson --- I think the search result is wrong. Searching for kdevelop gets a different result (the package I find has reviews and installs). The search result from 'develop' is for a package which looks the same but has no reviews. It's the sort of thing you see when you get results from a (say) flatpak result and a .Deb result. However the bad result does not identify itself as a flatpak or snap package. It is very confusing. When using Muon there is no confusion. You get one result and it works. So Discover is doing something wrong.
