[KDE Itinerary] [Bug 454017] Integration of routes (like GPX)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454017 Raphaël Jakse changed: What|Removed |Added CC||raphael@jakse.fr --- Comment #2 from Raphaël Jakse --- Hello, There's a case where such thing would be useful even without names displayed if there's nothing in the GPX trace. I can imagine: 27th of June - 10h -> 12h Train: City A -> City B, -> - Bike (clicking on this shows the map with the GPX trace) - 15h -> 16h Train: City C -> City D It is obvious at a glance that the bike is most likely between City B and City C between 12h and 15h even if those things are not explicit in the bike entry. It would be still very useful. Hours and location names could be manually editable too. The gpx trace could also be integrated in the whole map for the whole trip. I actually installed KDE Itinary to check if it allowed something like this. Amazing tool btw. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kde-cli-tools] [Bug 486193] New: Activity overrides for kde-open
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486193 Bug ID: 486193 Summary: Activity overrides for kde-open Classification: Plasma Product: kde-cli-tools Version: 6.0.4 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: aleix...@kde.org Reporter: gudvinr+...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Sometimes different workflows require different sets of applications that do the same. Probably notable example is web browser. It's so notable that people create workarounds like activity aware firefox (https://matija.suklje.name/introducing-activity-aware-firefox) to solve this issue. Possible use cases where differentiate by activity can help: - work and personal e-mail, chat, browser apps - guest workspace where browser and other apps have disabled history - creation workspace open .STL in blender, production will use 3D printing software - dev workspace will open Kate, all other workspaces will use kwrite - etc De-facto standard of resolving URIs is xdg-open, which in turn runs kde-open in case if it detects KDE. Since KDE is in control of what's being opened when an app requests file association, it is also possible to handle overrides in centralized way. Thus, I'd suggest to add per-activity overrides for default apps: - If user adds override for web browser in activity settings for activity A and is currently using this activity, kde-open will resolve web browser to value from this setting - In any other case, e.g. if activity B has different override or doesn't have an override at all, kde-open will either default value or corresponding override For current users and ones who don't need that nothing will change. Potential downside is that KIO might have an additional dependency to access activities, but since you can get current activity using d-bus I don't think it's a huge dealbreaker. After checking the KDE Neon and openSUSE Tumblweed live editions, I went back into my Fedora install and looked around a bit more. [kate] [Bug 486195] New: Kate crashes when opening a file with 10002 or more 0xff bytes
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486195 Bug ID: 486195 Summary: Kate crashes when opening a file with 10002 or more 0xff bytes Classification: Applications Product: kate Version: 24.02.2 Platform: Arch Linux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: crash Priority: NOR Component: application Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: t...@dirkkok.nl Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY When opening a file that consists only of 10002 or more 0xFF bytes, Kate either freezes and rapidly leaks memory and gets OOM-killed (on Arch, 24.02.2) or crashes (in Flatpak nightly, 24.07.70) This does not happen on Debian, 22.12.3, where the file is opened normally (with the message about the file having extremely long lines). If the file is less than 10002 bytes, it will interpret the file as being encoded in ISO-8859-1 and the bytes are displayed as 'ÿ' characters. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Produce a file consisting entirely of FF bytes and has a length of at least 10002 bytes (`echo -e -n '\xff' > testfile` and then `cat testfile testfile > testfile2` a bunch of times until it's big enough) 2. Open the file in Kate 3. Observe memory leak and/or crash OBSERVED RESULT Kate crashes either due to exhausting system memory (Arch) or immediately crashing (Flatpak) EXPECTED RESULT Kate should open the file as usual, interpreting the bytes in ISO-8859-1. Installed flatpak package is from https://cdn.kde.org/flatpak/kate-nightly/ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION When reproducing this bug on 22.04.2 there doesn't seem to be a stack trace because the crash eventually happens because of the OOM-killer. [dolphin] [Bug 486196] New: Remember folder panel state when switching between tabs or split windows
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486196 Bug ID: 486196 Summary: Remember folder panel state when switching between tabs or split windows Classification: Applications Product: dolphin Version: 24.02.2 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: panels: folders Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: maiphi.pub...@gmx.net CC: kfm-de...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Dolphin doesn't remember the state of the folder panel per view (tab or split view). There are two problems with that: * Collapsing folders when switching tabs/views essentially foils the advantage and, in my opinion, the main use case of tabs/split views. * Performance: the issue is particularly pronounced if one of the locations is sftp:// over the internet, because every time you switch to the sftp tab/view, the directory structure is reloaded which often takes several seconds due to the slow ssh connection. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open Dolphin in your home directory. If the folder panel is not shown, turn it on (F7). 2. Expand at least one directory in the folder panel by pressing the ">" left to the folder name in the folder panel. But do not enter a subdirectory. 3. Open a second tab or split the view. Navigate to a location that has a different folder panel root than home. The home directory in the first tab and the root directory in the second tab will do for illustration (but to really see how annoying this is, open an sftp location over the internet). 4. Switch back to the first tab/view. OBSERVED RESULT The folder panel gets reloaded (in case of sftp slowly) and its root correctly switches back to home. But all expanded folders are collapsed, except the one that is currently selected. EXPECTED RESULT The folder panel should remember its state per tab and split view. Note that one could use the same state for tabs/views that have the same folder panel root (e.g. the home directory), but not for the root directory and sftp locations. Sometimes it'll be right, but broken thereafter by restarting the program (like with "Details" view in Dolphin). Attached is a screen capture of some of the weirdness. Committed on 27/04/2024 at 15:24. Pushed by alex into branch 'master'. KFileItemActions: Add logic to order actions between separators Commit 337853329c61c9cfe5e369acf65a8eca94e5e7fd has purposedly ordered actions by their name. However, this breaks separators in service context menus. For example: Actions=progressive;optimize;\_SEPARATOR\_;compress_50;compress_70;compress_75 The separator would end up at the end of the list: Actions=compress_50;compress_70;compress_75;progressive|optimize;\_SEPARATOR\_ And since the logic check if the separator is the last item to add it: !actions.last()->isSeparator() separators basically disappear from service context menus. The purpose of this commit is then to create groups of actions between each separator. Actions will be sorted within these groups, but it will keep service menus original order. [kdenlive] [Bug 486207] New: [Feature request] Implement CTRL + X functionality. Absence of very common action across generally most applications in the world, to "cut".
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486207 Bug ID: 486207 Summary: [Feature request] Implement CTRL + X functionality. Absence of very common action across generally most applications in the world, to "cut". Classification: Applications Product: kdenlive Version: 24.02.2 Platform: Microsoft Windows OS: Microsoft Windows Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: User Interface Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org Reporter: balrogwhip123...@proton.me Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 168950 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=168950&action=edit How shortucts look like Hello! There are action that are missing in kdenlive and overcomplicates workflow, I have to make 2 extra steps to just make "cut". Bassicaly, almost any app have "CTRL+X" action to cut things. This action is the sequence of COPY -> DELETE. Kdenlive has "cut", but some kind of "slice", not cut in the default meaning. Why the absence of it is bad? Let me explain on my workflow. I have 2 sequences. I want to cut 2 clips from 1st sequence and paste it in 2nd sequence. Without this CTRL+X action I have to 1) Copy 2) Switch to 2nd sequence 3) Paste in 2nd sequence 4) Return to 1st sequence tab 5) Finally delete. This is very bad UX. So my proposal is: 1) Add CTRL+X as "CUT". CUT is an action to cut selected clips from timeline as a whole. 2) Rename current "CUT" to something that are more suitable by meaning. I would suggest "SLICE". That is what we are doing with this action -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

The problem with second is that invokes menu by right click, which is totally normal. So my proposal is to allow selection of timeline by double left mouse click on the timeline itself. Also to prevent moving playhead to the clicked place in case if there was a double click, not a single click. Preventing playhead from moving when it's not neccesary is another issue itself. This is just loud thinking and suggestion. Without handy and quick selection of timeline the time to work on project increases dramaticaly and even much more in larger projects (I would call large 5-10m videos, because this can be really time consuming and complicated to fight with UX as of current state). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
