Downgrade KDE SC Version 4.12.2

2014-02-22 Thread Kanjana

I am on Linux Mint 13 KDE 64-bit.

The update manager is set to levels 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Task-bar with application icons is/are completely missing after update.
My customized wallpaper has changed to the Linux Mint Maya default
wallpaper which appears to be somewhat oversized. Can only use Alt+F2 to
access applications etc..

How can I safely remove 4.12.2 and reinstall an 'older' version?

Please help me!

Hi Kanjana,

This sounds like a question you should ask on the Linux Mint forums or
mailing lists. They should be better at answering such questions.

Cheers,

Thanks for responding. Yes, I tried several pertinent n/g's and fora.
I'd better prepare to reinstall the distro.

a) You can ask such questions at http://forum.kde.org
b) "something" very much likely overrode your ~/.kde[4]/share/config/plasma*rc
files ->
c) Re-installing is *never* a reasonable solution to any problem (but windows)
and in this case *very* much likely will at best make things not worse, but not
restore your former settings.

Check whether the distro changed the KDEDIR settings (ie. whether you now eg.
have ~/.kde AND ~/.kde4)
If not and you don't have a backup of your configuration, it's very most
likely lost and you'll have to recreate it, sorry.

Cheers,
Thomas
