I'm not Raphael, but I can field this one. Newer Intel chipsets have integrated GPUs. These GPUs use Kernel Mode Switching, which FreeBSD does not support (yet; work is being done on it.) A lot of newer laptops use the Intel integrated GPUs, apparently KDE has made support of them a priority. If you don't have one of these Intel chipsets, it shouldn't have any effect whatsoever. Except that KDE requires a higher version of Mesa DRI then FreeBSD currently supports. DRI 7.11 is in the xorg-dev repository, but that's also where work is being done on the xorg intel driver. Other prompt for authentication stuff was also broken under 4.6.5, but most of them are now corrected in the latest release, 4.7.2, except the mounting of internal media, which now complains An error occurred while accessing '20.0 GiB Hard Drive', the system responded: org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.PermissionDeniedByPolicy: org.freedesktop.hal.storage.mount-fixed no -- (action, result) Prior to 4.7.2, the last part would say admin-auth -- (action, result) Also, in 4.7.2 - I can no longer find that policy to change it, so now there is no apparent workaround, other than simply mounting the partition/slice by hand. So I set up an exception for it in make.conf, and then it compiled fine (with base gcc). Ok, I wasn't lucid at all. I wrote that logic not to force Qt to build with only one compiler (there's no single bit oriented onto this), but to make Qt use the correct mkspec for the compiler in use (e.g., Qt configure tests doesn't/didn't support a compiler named c++). If there's no QMAKESPEC for the chosen compiler, the one for the compiler in base (either GCC or Clang) is chosen. Thus, CC and CXX are never passed to Qt configure system, they're just handled by bsd.qt.mk, which will then choose its compiler. To check this, compare the output of $ make -V CONFIGURE_ARGS -C /usr/ports/devel/qt4-corelib $ make -V CONFIGURE_ARGS -C /usr/ports/devel/qt4-corelib CXX=clang++ $ make -V CONFIGURE_ARGS -C /usr/ports/devel/qt4-corelib CXX=distcxx What to do about this? [kde-freebsd] Problem wihit KDE 'printer config'
Platform Version 4.7.2 (4.7.2) When trying to use the printer configuration module from the system settings menu, I receive this error message: The service 'Printer Configuration' does not provide an interface 'KCModule' with keyword 'system-config-printer-kde/system-config-printer-kde.py' The factory does not support creating component of the specified type. Possible reasons: An error occurred during your last kde upgrade leaving an orphaned control module. You have old third party modules lying around. So, how do I go about finding this orphaned control module / old third party modules? -- Carmel ✌ carmel...@hotmail.com ___ kde-freebsd mailing list kde-freebsd@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kde-freebsd See also http://freebsd.kde.org/ for latest information
