[Bug 216101] Make Kmail filter incoming imap mails - 4.3.4 still broken

2009-12-17 Thread Adam Spragg
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=216101

--- Comment #6 from Adam Spragg adam spra gg 2009-12-17 09:11:03 ---
Ah, I forgot that interval mail checking needs manually setting on the
account.

(Why is this not set by default? It's an IMAP account - it's *supposed* to be a
live view of data on the server. When IDLE support is written, will that be
turned off by default?)

That done, I'm getting email, and the filter appears to be running by itself. I
guess that means there's something in my original kmailrc which is causing the
problem.

So, what now? How do we figure out which bit is wrong so a) I can remove it and
restore the rest of my old kmailrc, and b) some KDE hacker can fix the problem
with kmail's behaviour when it comes across such a config?

--- Comment #59 from luisfe lftabera yahoo es 2009-12-17 16:39:50 ---
I can confirm this bug in kde 4.3.4 exactly as commented in #9

Under the system monitor I check that even if I close kontact and korganizer
daemon, sometimes there is still a kontact process in memory. Whenever this
happens, trying to open kontact deals with the segfault. If the kontact
process ends, then there is no segfault even if it is the second time you open
the application.

So, maybe this is related to #39. Maybe the old kontact is trying to close and
clean data, or waiting a reponse to finish closing (akonadi?) and reopening it
without proper closing the old one produces the segfault.

meh - beg pardon:
system is 64 bit suse 11.1

Updated to kmail and kaddressbook 4.3.80-179.1 - kaddressbook will not start,
kmail works fine, all old addresses still there - I hesitate to de-install and
do full re-install for loss of email addresses.

[Bug 218973] Kmail crashes after canceling a pinentry request (GPG decrypt)

2009-12-17 Thread Wes D
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=218973

--- Comment #2 from Wes D wes wesdeviers net 2009-12-17 18:38:31 ---
It's entirely possible. If I disable the preview pane in Kmail prefs, the
problem doesn't appear. To clarify

-Disable preview pane
-Click on message that is GPG encrypted to my private key from a friend
-PINEntry window pops up
-I hit Cancel
-GPG Warning Invalid Passphrase pops up, from Kmail
-I hit Cancel
-Message window opens with standard blue markup and Message could not be
decrypted as the message body.
-Kmail does *not* crash.

So it appears to be related to the preview pane, but I don't know enough about
it to say if it's related explicitly to 180741 or 208245

[Bug 219103] New: KDE Kontact crashed while I was trying to save a message from Kmail to the Ubuntu file browser.

2009-12-17 Thread K . A . Sayeed
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=219103

Summary: KDE Kontact crashed while I was trying to save a
message from Kmail to the Ubuntu file browser.
   Product: kontact
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Unlisted Binaries
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: sayeed...@gmail.com

Application that crashed: kontact
Version of the application: 4.3.2
KDE Version: 4.3.2 (KDE 4.3.2)
Qt Version: 4.5.2
Operating System: Linux 2.6.31-16-generic x86_64
Distribution: Ubuntu 9.10

What I was doing when the application crashed:
1. KDE Kontact crashed and it could not be restarted. I had to restart Ubuntu
Linux in order to restart KDE Kontact. This happenned at least three times
before your bug reporting software was automatically invoked.

2. I am using Ubuntu Linux 9.10, 64 bit, using an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU on an
Asus K5B motherboard. I do not find such crashes ocurring when I use any
version of Thunbderbird for processing mail including saving e-mail messages to
the Ubuntu File browser.

3. There seem to be other serious problems with Kmail in particular. For
example, it is not possible to save an e-mail message from Kmail to the Ubuntu
Linux file browser without also saving attachments at the same time. It should
be possible to separate messages and attachments thereto. Even after unchecking
the inline feature and checking the hide feature in Kmail, the attachments
coninue to be saved in the message itself.

4. I would like to use Kmail and other KDE Kontact applications because of the
integrated architecture and various features. For example, the ability to
select the format of the time displayed in Kmail is a VERY USEFUL and IMPORTANT
feature. On the other hand, there are many features missing or that need to be
improved.

Well, you can always post your kmailrc and see whether it helps. But look at
the amount of kmail bugs and you see, that there is just a very small chance
that it gets fixed.

But if you can find out what is the great difference between your old kmailrc
and the working one, that results in the unwanted behaviour - a developer can
probably quickly use your work to fix the problem.

That's the thing about free software.

Currently I can even not exclude the possibility of wanted behaviour because of
the configurations in the kmailrc.

Well, I consider scrolling a very basic and consistent key binding that should
not be changed - and probably would be difficult to change because it is in my
opinion implemented in basic qt widgets.

Concerning stepping through the message list you have the functions next
message (n) and previous message (p) what does exactly what you want. The
keybindings are configurable here.

Probably a good junior job. May be the folderview can be put in a dock widget?
Must be investigated, but should be doable with some basic qt knowledge.

I would do this with the help of folders. Simply filter interesting or
uninteresting mails in different folders. In the property dialog you remove the
check of action when new/unseen mail arrives for the uninteresting folder and
leave it for the interesting.

[Bug 219137] New: KDE Kontact crashed when I was moving an e-mail message from the Sent folder to the Archives Folder

2009-12-17 Thread K . A . Sayeed
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=219137

Summary: KDE Kontact crashed when I was moving an e-mail
message from the Sent folder to the Archives Folder
   Product: kontact

  Platform: Unlisted Binaries
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Qt Version: 4.5.2
Operating System: Linux 2.6.31-16-generic x86_64
Distribution: Ubuntu 9.10

What I was doing when the application crashed:
This is a duplicate of Bug ID no. 218874.

I would like to take this opportunity to suggest the following improvements to
Kmail:

1. When manually saving an an e-mail message while it is being composed, the
compose window should remain open. Currently, the only option is to Save as
Draft and when doing the entire compose window is shut down, One has to then
go to Drafts folder to open the message that was being drafted and then resume
composing. This is very inefficient.

2. I hope that you will be able to provide a method of manually saving the
message being composed without the compose window being closed. You may be
aware that this is possible in Thunderbird.

[Bug 163071] Crash when deleting messages from inbox

--- Comment #116 from Mike Gager tlied2 gmail com 2009-12-18 05:28:35 ---
Application that crashed: kontact
Version of the application: 4.3.3
KDE Version: 4.3.3 (KDE 4.3.3)
Qt Version: 4.5.3
Operating System: Linux 2.6.27.41-170.2.117.fc10.x86_64 x86_64
Distribution: Fedora release 10 (Cambridge)

What I was doing when the application crashed:
It'll do it anytime I delete while a queue of deletes is still processing.
Current workaround (when I remember) is to make another selection, wait for it
to display the currently selected message, when it gets to it, and then proceed
with the delete.
