[Akonadi] [Bug 386985] akonadi CalDav resource not synching with certain servers
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=386985 --- Comment #38 from Anders Lund --- I have this problem after updating to nextcloud 16. I can tell that I can create events using korganizer, and they appear in the NextCloud Calendar app and on my phone etc, but no events are ever fetched. Restarting the resource in korganizer settings briefly shows "fetching 0%" for each calendar, I confirmed by looking in akonadiconsole that the resource only contains locally created events. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403851 Bug ID: 403851 Summary: KMail often chokes, and have to be restarted Product: kmail2 Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: and...@alweb.dk Target Milestone: --- Very often, sometimes many times a day, kmail appears to stop working. It does not fetch new mail, mail can not be sent, and/or mail can not be displayed. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Use KMail for a while. suspend the system a few times. 2. At some point, get suspcious because you do not get mail 3. Get annoyed, because suddenly kmail will not display any mail, instead the infamous BSOD appears whenever a mail header is clicked. If a header is doubleclidked, a infinite "fetching message ..." progress dialog is spawned. OBSERVED RESULT Kmail is unstable, not safe to use. The cure is to quit (sometimes with a crash), restart akonadi wait a bit and launch kmail again. Sometimes this needs to be repeated. EXPECTED RESULT Working mail client. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Archlinux (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 18.12.1 Qt Version: 5.12 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I use a laptop, which is closed (=> suspended) often. [Akonadi] [Bug 351803] IMAP stopped working
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=351803 --- Comment #5 from Anders Lund --- I stopped using kmail some months ago, as it became 100% unusable. I think there is no way forward for kmail, as long as akonadi is used. Any non-akonadi mail client I tried works fine. As did kmail in pre-akonadi times. Akonadi is not usable for mail, in my configuration. I believe it has to do with the mail server my mail service offers. I have heard that it works for some, though. This dialog comes with an option to delete a tag, in the GUI represented by a rec X in the right side of the tag in the list. Clicking it, I am asked wheather to remove the tag "from all files". I say yes, and probably, a nepomuk query removes the tag from all files and deletes it. But the tag is not removed from all contacts. Instead, contacts that use the tag, now appears to have a unnamed tag - sometimes more, if more tags was removed. Now, edting such a contacts categories leads to a horrible state, namely the display of categories named "nepomuk:/resource=woihtrwlgjrdlfgbdf" or thereabout. How embarassing! It seems to me, that when the nepomuk tag is removed, action should be taken to remove the corresponding category from all contacts. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. add some tags to some contacts 2. wait for it to apply throughout the chain 3. edit a contact categries, and use the option to remove a tag. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283548 --- Comment #36 from Anders Lund --- Trying to pay attention today to what happens... I have a message that was filtered, and correctly moved to spam and marked as read. Later this message reappeared in my inbox, now marked as read, and with a indicator in the header that it is spam. It turns out that it is still in the IMAP inbox, so akonadi didn't move it, but copy it to spam. I have quite a few of theese during a day :( Sometimes the graphical spam indicator is not shown, even though the header exists in the email when I view the source. Judging from the filter, akonadi thinks it moves the message into spam each time it reappears, but there is only one copy in spam, and one in inbox. When this happens, contacts are not recognized in groups in my "personal contacts" resource any longer, which indicates to me - togeather with the intensive virtuoso-t activity - that something bad is going on. [Bug 307807] Insane abuse of nepomuk causes power abuse and makes the system unusable
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=307807 --- Comment #4 from Anders Lund --- Of course it is very good to ensure that the right nepomuk code is used. But it is equally importnat that ALL aspects of this area is optimized. For example there is a patch waiting that should prevent reindexing when flags are changed. On my system, my owncloud resources are often dropped, and judging from the virtuoso-t activity when they are rediscovered, they are also reindexed again. Quite absurd, for my calendars + contacts! Let me know if I can help investigate or if my log files can help! What happens with new mail? Receiving a few mails costs minutes of virtuoso-t activity > 30-50% CPU here, and that can not be reasonable, even given virtuoso-t or nepomuk inefficiency - indexing many times the amount of images or documents is barely visible. So I can't help wondering if messages are indexed more than once, for example when moved by a filter. If that is the case, there is a low-hanging fruit to pick! Mail that is set as spam by my bogofilter should NEVER be indexed, so can trust that mail in trash folders are never indexed right? But that is not enough, as long as filtering is not always trustworthy itself, often spam messages are left in the inbox, and it is still silly to index it. All my people are in my addressbook, and listed just below in kaddressbook. It looks to me like akonadi just drops and recreates these contacts every time they are synced, causing a new id to be assigned, breaking my groups. Btw, I also think this adds to the insane CPU abuse akonadi causes by running nepomuk stuff ALL THE TIME. There is a similar problem with the caldav calendars from owncloud, though less frustrating because no other data is destroyed in that case Reproducible: Always -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
[Bug 305073] Filtering often duplicates messages
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=305073 --- Comment #1 from Anders Lund --- Hvaing observed this highly annoying misbehavior for some time now, I can say that the copying happens when I enter my inbox. The copied messages are from the last batch, not all messages are copied. Spam messages are sometimes copied to the inbox. Message copies have to be remved by using the "remove duplicate messages" action, or by deleting them manually, or (in case of spam) hitting CTRL + J. Updating folders (or restarting kmail) does not cause removal. Worsening the problem is the fact that the copied messages are unread, so I have after visiting my inbox a false unread mails count in some folders. The problem only happens once for each batch of fetched mails. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

Most of the load appears to come from mysqld. Mail indexing is disabled. It also causes the conflict resolution dialog to show without user interaction, which is clearly a sign of misdesign! the changed data is always the update time. Maybe the update time is changed everytime a filter is run, without considering if that changes anything? This clearly shows that the filtering is done all wrong, it should be done from the top. The current way it feels like the secratary puts all mail in a pile on the desk, and starts ripping it out of my hands to sort it, while I try to read it. I have learned to never believe the "ready" in kmail2s statusbar, but check in the process table first if any possibly related processes are active. During the time, the status area icon is blinking, causing the entire plasma panel to relayout, often without changing the number of mails - this make me think that it is updated for no reason, every time a filter is run, matching or not. Running kmail without power available is bad, since it uses so much power that the battery time much affected (allthough having indexing disabled helps on that part, along with the fixes in the nepomuk area) There is no maildir or filter component of the akonadi procuct, so I thought I would file this here under kmail2.
