[Akonadi] [Bug 357179] Email remains in inbox after moving it to a folder
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=357179 Daniel Hornung <daniel.horn...@gmx.de> changed: What|Removed |Added Version|1.13.0 |GIT (master) --- Comment #5 from Daniel Hornung <daniel.horn...@gmx.de> --- I am not sure what the intended policy is for 1) maildir folders whose content exists exclusively in the Akonadi DB and 2) moving _existing_ mail files to such destinations. If the folders (1) existed, this problem would not occur, but of course this might not make too much sense if (2) they would not receive any content anyway. I just hope that any fix would also work in the case of such not-yet-existing destination folders. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

Typically the local folders are at a location like ~/.local/share/local-mail, make sure to also check for hidden files there. Subfolders are names ".SUBFOLDER.directory". I have the suspicion that moving/deleting fails if the source directory exists on the file system, but the target directory does not. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=357179 Daniel Hornung <daniel.horn...@gmx.de> changed: What|Removed |Added CC||daniel.horn...@gmx.de Ever confirmed|0 |1 Status|UNCONFIRMED |CONFIRMED --- Comment #1 from Daniel Hornung <daniel.horn...@gmx.de> --- I can confirm this behaviour, both on 4.14.8 and 4.14.10 (Akonadi 1.13.0), at least for one user on my machine. I tried to reproduce it for a test user but so far could not see this bug there. Additional observations: - It does not seem to be a matter of downloading the message again (although I did not test with network switched off), but the "seenUidList=..." entry in the [LeaveOnServer] section in ~/.kde4/share/config/akonadi_pop3_resource_0rc is not modified by moving the mail. - The Mail is moved correctly to the new folder, at least according to the browser in AkonadiConsole. The "reappearing" mails in the inbox get new and unique IDs though, although the "Remote Id" stays the same (still according to AkonadiConsole). - In accordance with this finding, there still is an email file (with filename-remote id) in the inbox folder (in the filesystem), even after moving the mail and _before_ the mail reappears in KMail's display. Interestingly, the _target_ mail directory does not have a file system representation, maybe because it's small enough to be completely buffered in Akonadi? I will test if this factor discriminates if the bug occurs. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

Now when trying to move the folders from the temporary place where I imported them to where they actually should go, some folders can not be moved with an error message "Unable to retrieve item from resource: Invalid item retrieved". (By the way, when this item happens to be in a subfolder of the folder, the error message is empty.) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. KMail Version 4.14.8. Suggestions what to do better: - Just move the folder, keeping the invalid item and move its reference along, just output a warning (I am not sure if this is possible with the internal structure). - At least output which item is invalid and where to find it, equivalently to the console output. This allows the user to manually inspect and/or delete the item in the Akonadi console. - Offer to the user directly the choice to delete/archive/restore the item, if possible. I think that less than 1% of all users would be able to work the steps to do this manually: check output of ~/.xsession-errors, find ID of corrupt item there, then open akonadiconsole, find the item, delete it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

That other bug report claimed it was fixed in Kontact 4.5. I can't test this myself since I have Kontact 4.4.9 (with KDE 4.4.5). Your original posting states that you have Kontact 4.4.10, so I think we both cannot enjoy the said fix yet. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=226292 --- Comment #16 from Daniel Hornung daniel hornung gmx de 2011-02-20 19:51:31 --- (In reply to comment #12) Does disabling the Special Dates module solve the issue ? For me (Kontact 4.4.9, KDE 4.4.5, Gentoo), disabling just Special Dates made in freeze (with the clock mouse icon) after clicking on the summary icon and before the summary was even displayed. I did the following tests: - Showing no summaries at all works for me. - Clock icon freeze if only the following is checked: - Todo, Planner and Special Dates - Todo (one overdue item, dunno if that's important) - Planner, Special Dates, Calendar, Mail and Popup Notes - Works with only the following checked: - Calendar, Mail and Popup Notes - Special Dates - Planner The next test, only the planner also led to a freeze, which leads me to the conclusion that this looks like a somewhat nondeterministic bug... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

[Bug 229213] akonadi only starts successfully the second time 'round
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=229213 Daniel Hornung daniel.horn...@gmx.de changed: What|Removed |Added CC||daniel.horn...@gmx.de --- Comment #7 from Daniel Hornung daniel hornung gmx de 2010-07-07 23:32:33 --- I think I can confirm this (or a very similar bug) with KDE 4.4.4, on an amd64 Gentoo system. Starting Kontact for the first time after logging in triggers the startup of Akonadi. This results in an Akonadi error because no resource agents could be found: snip Test 14: ERROR No resource agents found. Details: snap Consequently, the addressbook is not available in Kontact. Closing and restarting kontact makes it work (including the addressbook) though, so my naive guess is that this is just a timing problem. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
