[kontact] [Bug 488874] New: Akonadi kontact module and address group management issues

2024-06-21 Thread Diego Ercolani
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=488874

Bug ID: 488874
Summary: Akonadi kontact module and address group management
issues
Classification: Applications
   Product: kontact
   Version: 5.24.5
  Platform: openSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: contacts
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: diego.ercol...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Hello , I've recently upgraded openSUSE to 15.6 versione, the issues I siognal
are also present in the old release of akonadi's kontact/kmail module. (I
filled also a bug in the vendor bugreport:
https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1226688

These are the modules version I currently have:
kaddressbook-lang-23.08.5-bp156.1.2.noarch
kaddressbook-23.08.5-bp156.1.2.x86_64
kaddressbook-doc-23.08.5-bp156.1.2.noarch
kontact-debuginfo-23.08.5-bp156.1.2.x86_64
kontact-lang-23.08.5-bp156.1.2.noarch
kontact-23.08.5-bp156.1.2.x86_64
kontact-debugsource-23.08.5-bp156.1.2.x86_64
kmail-account-wizard-lang-23.08.5-bp156.1.2.noarch
kmail-lang-23.08.5-bp156.1.3.noarch
kmail-account-wizard-23.08.5-bp156.1.2.x86_64
kmailtransport-lang-23.08.5-bp156.1.1.noarch
kmail-23.08.5-bp156.1.3.x86_64
kmail-application-icons-23.08.5-bp156.1.3.x86_64
kmailtransport-23.08.5-bp156.1.1.x86_64

I currently use kontact as my primary groupware tool in interaction with my
colleagues I need to use group of email address to send comunications.

It's very difficult to edit/create these group as you have to manually enter
email address in the GUI, it would be better to have a "point and click"
selection of address from the addressbook or create directly a group from the
addresses of a mail message.

After creating the address group frequently the kontact client crashes
very annoying

The annoying bug I try to explain today is that even if you set in the kmail
sendmessage dialog another group name, the client, during the send process (the
group isn't evaluated after pressing enter but only after the message is sent)
the group is evaluated with the erroneous group of email addresses so you have
a surprise whenever you select an address group.
This make this feature unusable at all.
I'm very courious to know if this problem is only my peculiarity or is a common
issue, this because since I tried to use address groups I faced this kind of
problem so I suspected was only my issue and didn't fill a bugreport, but after
years I suspect this is a common issue)

[Akonadi] [Bug 472399] New: Inject events from ical file to google calendar

2023-07-19 Thread Diego Ercolani
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=472399

Bug ID: 472399
Summary: Inject events from ical file to google calendar
Classification: Frameworks and Libraries
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 5.22.3
  Platform: openSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Google Resource
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: diego.ercol...@gmail.com
CC: c...@carlschwan.eu, dvra...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Normally I receive mail full of invitation to my work office address, for
convenience, I connected the google calendar resource to akonadi and it is
possible to manage appointment object in the google calendar from korganizer.
The problem is that from a point in time google control
*partecipant
*organizer
of the appointment.
If neither the organizer or a partecipant is recognized as google's account,
google refuses to commit the change to the calendar.

I have to create manually the event because it's not possible to integrate it
from akonadi

Of course, I think the problem is related between google calendar and kde... I
currently gave up reporting the same issue again and again
my workaround, after the crash is:
- akonadictl stop
- ps auxwww | grep korga and kill the processes korganizer|korgac
- restart korganizer and if it don't crash, start kontact...

If you need some other detail you can just ask

I'm sorry, in my implementation kontact/kmail doesn't have these functions.
I have openSUSE 15.3 :
kmail-20.04.2-bp153.3.2.1.x86_64

I can only create task, and if I drag the message under calendar it creates a
entry in calendar but with only
akonadi:?item=1363227=message/rfc822=34 or similar as subject.

Probably I have only to wait new packages...

If you receive an appointment invitation and add to a calendar (Kolab IMAP or
google), opening the modification dialog if the email of the sender is not one
of your address, it compares partially on the dialog as organizer.
If you then save the appointment an for example you copy to another calendar,
it rewrites the organizer as one of your address and send the appointment
invitation to other members as you were the organizer this is very
annoying, then you loose who was the original organizer

I don't use Kontact that much nowadays, so I can't really tell if this is still
a bug. Closing then.

[Akonadi] [Bug 395131] Akonadi consumes all memory

Finally I think I've found my hickup:
There was a package installed

/etc/xdg/akonadi-search.categories
/etc/xdg/akonadi-search.renamecategories

/usr/lib64/qt5/plugins/akonadi
/usr/lib64/qt5/plugins/akonadi/akonadi_search_plugin.so

/usr/lib64/qt5/plugins/kcm_krunner_pimcontacts.so
/usr/lib64/qt5/plugins/krunner_pimcontacts.so

/usr/share/licenses/akonadi-search
/usr/share/licenses/akonadi-search/COPYING
/usr/share/licenses/akonadi-search/COPYING.LIB

Installed which akonadi consumes all the memory

I just removed the package

[Akonadi] [Bug 395131] Akonadi consumes all memory

2020-06-02 Thread Diego Ercolani
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=395131

I have a suimilar issue, before I resolved clearing the .local/akonadi data but
after a day of indexing I have all the memory (and swap file) full off
"akonadiserver":
akonadiserver 5.10.3 on openSUSE_15.1 akonadi-server-18.12.3-lp151.3.4.1.x86_64
mariadb-10.2.31-lp151.2.12.1.x86_64

(my system have 16GB of internal memory)

The user experience note is that, starting from a clean akonadi data directory
I have:

I started with exit "kontact", akonadictl stop, removing the
~/.local/share/akonadi
killed everything in processtable that have "akonadi or imap" in it:

and this is the state after a day:
20Gbytes ~/.local/share/akonadi

[Akonadi] [Bug 403731] New: kmail akonadi don't connect to IMAP resource

2019-01-29 Thread Diego Ercolani
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403731

Bug ID: 403731
Summary: kmail akonadi don't connect to IMAP resource
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 5.7.3
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: IMAP resource
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: diego.ercol...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

I think I'm stuck in a dead end.
I solved installing thunderbird but for me since december isn't possible to use
kmail.
I tryied to remove all the akonadi DB and reinitialize it. I cannot get it
working again.
The simptom is that Whenever I want to create a imap/kolab resource, the wizard
dialog hangs.
I cannot find how to bypass the dialog and verify settings manually

[kmail2] [Bug 395950] New: akonadi data clean make service folder random

2018-06-28 Thread Diego Ercolani
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=395950

Bug ID: 395950
Summary: akonadi data clean make service folder random
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.7.3
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: folders
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: diego.ercol...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

I have Italian localization so I don't know the "original" names.

I have the last Leap 15.0 distribution so is the "current" version

In the kmail interface you have the "preferred folder" that you can copy from
the folder tree to the window of the preferred folder and so you have an useful
direct folder selection that it's important when, like me, you have a very deep
tree of many years structured email.

The problem is facing whenever (for instability and poor performance og akonadi
indexing) I have to clean all the akonadi data (akonadictl stop; rm -rf
~/.local/share/akonadi; akonadictl start), then, when starting kmail the
preferred folder window has a list of folder that are pointing to a random
destination in the tree list, so (for example) the inbox shortcut folder is
pointing to archived sent mail without any apparent reason.

This issue happen every time to every version of kmail I ever used.

[kmail2] [Bug 351219] kmail gui freeze apparently loosing time in QTextBlock::textDirection()

2015-08-13 Thread Diego Ercolani
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=351219

--- Comment #3 from Diego Ercolani diego.ercol...@gmail.com ---
As it was impossible for me to use kmail and do normal communication during
working time it seem I solved the problem with this workaround:

I exited akonadi (akonadictl stop) and kmail (pkill kmail)

then I removed:

~/.kde4/share/apps/kmail2
~/.kde4/share/config/kmail2rc
~/.kde4/share/config/kmail-migratorrc
~/.kde4/share/config/kmail.eventsrc

really i noticed that under ~/.kde4/share/apps/kmail2/autosave there was a file
that probably was a message autosave and was the problem, unfortunately I
didn't backup it

[kmail2] [Bug 351219] New: kmail gui freeze apparently loosing time in QTextBlock::textDirection()

2015-08-12 Thread Diego Ercolani
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=351219

Bug ID: 351219
Summary: kmail gui freeze apparently loosing time in
QTextBlock::textDirection()
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.14.7
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: composer
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: diego.ercol...@gmail.com

kmail-4.14.9-24.2.x86_64
libqt4-4.8.6-4.4.1.x86_64
from openSUSE_13.2

Apparently there is an issue in the kmail GUI that freezes it whenever you
click on something with the mouse.

I used perf -a to record what happened while I was trying to compose a new
email. I attach the perf.data file so you can analize

Reproducible: Always

[Akonadi] [Bug 338658] GMail, Novell Groupwise, other IMAP: Multiple merge candidates, aborting

2015-07-15 Thread Diego
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=338658

einar77 on IRC helped me to go around this problem by resetting Akonadi cache:
akonadiconsole - browser - right click on folder / account, clear akonadi
cache, but this will prompt a full download again of the mail

The above suggestion is not a solution for the problem, but at least it
mitigates the problem by providing a manual fix.

[Akonadi] [Bug 307948] Distribution lists are not pushed to nepomuk

2015-03-17 Thread Diego
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=307948

(In reply to Vishesh Handa from comment #3)
The Nepomuk project is no longer maintained in KDE since 4.13. For email
indexing, Baloo provided an Akonadi resource to index emails, contacts and
events. Tags are now maintained by Akonadi itself.

Bug is still reproducible with KMail 4.14.4 and akonadi-1.13.0, please reopen.

Distribution list are not accepted if I add them to the To field of KMail,
they work just if I right click on them and select Send message. KDE /
 Kontact / KMail 4.14.1

Moreover, when used with right click, if a Contact has multiple addresses, only
the default address will be used.
Example: Contact Pippo has default address go...@disney.com and secondary
address go...@mouseton.com. If I select in the distribution list
go...@mouseton.com mail will be sent to go...@disney.com anyway.

I normally use kmail suite on my workplace, since about 3 months it's for me
impossible to accept appointment invitation from kmail.
Today before opening the bug issue I tryied to create a new configuration for
kmail and with this brand new configuration it works.

With my working configuration if I click on accept invitation, kmail simply
doesn't react. So as this can be a kind of realword bug, I ask you how can I
give the correct informations to address this issue

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=328484

Bug ID: 328484
Summary: Kontact crashed when double clicking on the message
area
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kontact
   Version: 4.11.3
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: diego...@zoho.com

Application: kontact (4.11.3)
KDE Platform Version: 4.11.3
Qt Version: 4.8.5
Operating System: Linux 3.11.9-200.fc19.x86_64 x86_64
Distribution: Fedora release 19 (Schrödinger’s Cat)

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

This is a bit weird bug, but what happened is this: I had my Kontact minimized,
I opened it, then after a couple of seconds I double clicked (by error, it
wasn't intentional) on the message area and Kontact window instantly
disappeared!

I don't have any way to reproduce the bug at will.

For reference, this is what I found about the duplicates:
[15:00] panda84kde dvratil: I see. I have two copies of inbox, two of
outbox and two of sent-mail, however one is in english, the other one is
localized in italian (my language)
[15:01] dvratil that sounds like a possible issue
[15:01] panda84kde so I have inbox and in arrivo, outbox and in
uscita and sent-mail and inviata
[15:01] dvratil do both versions contain the same emails?
[15:02] panda84kde I must say that I've changed language this morning to
report english string, but usually I use italian
[15:03] panda84kde dvratil: the italian ones have no content total = 0, size
= 0B, the english ones have no description strings total = , size =
[15:04] dvratil ok, so I guess it's safe to pick one and delete it :)
[15:06] panda84kde dvratil: whohoa! (deleting
italian folders worked)
[15:06] dvratil \o/
[15:07] * panda84kde tries reverting to italian to see what happens
[15:07] dvratil panda84kde, so this happened after you changed your KDE
locales?
[15:07] panda84kde dvratil: I'm sorry. No. :(
[15:08] dvratil do you remember whether the folders were called english or
italian before 4.11?
[15:08] panda84kde dvratil: I changed locale because I had the problem and I
wanted to share the problem using strings in english
[15:09] panda84kde 99% italian
[15:10] panda84kde however, now they got *renamed* from english to their
italian counterpart
[15:10] dvratil hmm, ok...still - sounds like this could be the trigger - I
recall that someone had exactly the same problem - duplicates in local language
[15:10] dvratil migration issue?
[15:12] panda84kde my suspesct is somehow this: I had somehow weirdly named
local folder, which got fixed, though duplicated, moving to 4.11. Mind that
i'm a Kontact user since something like 4.2
[15:13] panda84kde so probably I had something bad from the past.
[15:13] dvratil probably
[15:29] panda84kde dvratil: now I can change from italian to english and
viceversa and the folders just get renamed.
[15:35] panda84kde dvratil: moreover I *had* messages in the inbox /
sent-mail folders, but they wheren't listed. Now they are present in my folders
(although while using Kontact in english I removed the italian folders)

For anybody who might encounter this bug in the future it would be useful if,
before deleting the duplicates they can note down and report here the
informations reported in the Attributes and Internals tabs reachable this
way:
- open Akonadi Console;
- go to the Browser tab;
- identify the duplicates in KMail Folders

[Akonadi] [Bug 315022] Akonadi fetching same mails endlessly (Exchange 2010 over IMAP)

2013-02-13 Thread Diego Agulló
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=315022

--- Comment #1 from Diego Agulló aeo...@gmail.com ---
By the way, closing KMail, restarting akonadi (akonadictl restart) and fetching
the mails from Thunderbird (and closing it afterwards) makes akonadi clean the
duplicated messages, so they are definitely not cloned remotely on the Exchange
server.

[Akonadi] [Bug 315022] New: Akonadi fetching same mails endlessly (Exchange 2010 over IMAP)

2013-02-12 Thread Diego Agulló
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=315022

Bug ID: 315022
Summary: Akonadi fetching same mails endlessly (Exchange 2010
over IMAP)
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 4.10
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
   URL: http://i.imgur.com/M3qBdHG.png
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: grave
  Priority: NOR
 Component: IMAP resource
  Assignee: er...@kde.org
  Reporter: aeo...@gmail.com
CC: kdepim-bugs@kde.org, vkra...@kde.org

Akonadi fetches the same mails over and over from an Exchange 2010 server over
IMAP. The mails are displayed and notifications are raised, but the duplicated
mails (see linked screenshot) are disabled and thus can't be interacted with:
one couldn't mark them as read, see its contents or open them on a new window.

Mail count for the subscribed folder raises aswell: the attached screenshot
shows 64 unread mails, but there are just three of them (real, unique, unread
mails). By the time I finished reporting this bug the count has raised to 86
(and counting).

May have something to do with #264266

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Configure an Exchange 2010 account over IMAP (didn't try with other servers,
sorry about that).
2. Open KMail and wait to receive the messages.
3. They are received fine, but they'll keep duplicating after some minutes.
Actual Results:
Every unread mail received is duplicated, but the clones are disabled.

Expected Results:
Receive a mail just once, not many times for the very same mail.

I'm reporting that as an akonadi bug - not kmail, as closing kmail doesn't
prevent akonadi from fetching mails on the background.

I'm using Kubuntu 12.10 with Kubuntu backports PPA enabled.

$ kmail --version
Qt: 4.8.3
KDE Development Platform: 4.10.00
KMail: 4.10

$ akonadiserver --version
Akonadi 1.9.0

Please let me know whether I can provide any other information about my setup
to help you triage the bug. I tested on two different machines (desktop and
laptop) with the very same results.

I have this problem also, sigh.

Every time I try to start a new task I get this:

Error storing new task. Your changes were not saved. Make sure you can edit
your iCalendar file. Also quit all applications using this file and remove any
lock file related to its name from ~/.kde/share/apps/kabc/lock/

[Bug 302590] New: Kontact crashed after killing virtuoso

2012-06-26 Thread Diego
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=302590

Bug ID: 302590
  Severity: crash
   Version: 4.8.3
  Priority: NOR
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
Summary: Kontact crashed after killing virtuoso
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux
  Reporter: pand...@inwind.it
  Hardware: Fedora RPMs
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Component: general
   Product: kontact

Application: kontact (4.8.3)
KDE Platform Version: 4.8.3 (4.8.3)
Qt Version: 4.8.2
Operating System: Linux 3.4.3-1.fc17.x86_64 x86_64
Distribution: Fedora release 17 (Beefy Miracle)

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

I was looking to get the source of a problem of Kontact being stuck. This is
what happened:
[19:08] panda84kde hi everybody. Can anybody help me to debug a problem I
currently have with Kontact? The Kontact (4.8.3) GUI got stuck and wasn't
responding. I force closed it and restarted again, but the GUI doesn't open up
anymore.
[19:09] panda84kde I've tried starting it from command line and the only
output I get is loaded the Generic plugin and nothing more.
[19:09] panda84kde te
[19:09] dfaure when you close it, does it really completely terminate? check
with Ctrl+Esc, that it's not running anymore
[19:10] vkrause a hanging Nepomuk query service could cause that
[19:11] panda84kde dfaure: thanks. yes, by force close i mean kill it. no
process opened
[19:12] panda84kde vkrause: how can I check if I have a hanging Nepomuk query
service?
[19:14] vkrause try running qdbus
org.kde.nepomuk.services.nepomukqueryservice /nepomukqueryservice, if that
hangs as well, that's the problem
[19:15] vkrause if it works the only other way to be sure is backtrace on
kontact or stopping nepomuk temporarily
[19:17] panda84kde no, that command doesn't hang:
http://pastebin.com/hfRiHixT
[19:17] panda84kde ok, I'll install Kontact debug symbols and see what's
going on.
[19:19] panda84kde gdb and Kontact debug symbols. anything else I may need?
[19:20] dfaure debug symbols for all underlying libs
[19:21] dfaure (akonadi, kdepimlibs, kdepim, kdelibs, soprano ...)
[19:21] vkrause I doubt that much detail will be needed for a first run
[19:21] vkrause I still suspect a sync dbus call to nepomuk, should be
visible already without all that
[19:23] panda84kde dfaure: yes, I've run Fedora's debuginfo-install kdepim
which should install everything that's needed (no disk space problem), around
900MB
[19:23] dfaure fun
[19:24] panda84kde vkrause: anything else I could try before going the gdb
road?
[19:24] vkrause stop nepomuk/virtuoso and try again, if it still hangs it's
something else
[19:25] panda84kde ok
[19:25] vkrause ie. if it still hangs then we really need a fully detailed
backtrace
[19:54] panda84kde vkrause: i've stopped nepomuk from systemsettings, but
still Kontact doesn't start. I still see some nepomuk processes anyway. Should
I kill them?
[20:02] panda84kde vkrause, dfaure: as soon as I killed virtuoso process,
Kontact started immediately.

The epilogue is that Kontact started correctly, but just after clicking on a
folder, Kontact crashed with this backtrace.

[Bug 297464] New: keep deleted mail from other users

2012-04-04 Thread Diego Ercolani
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=297464

Bug ID: 297464
  Severity: wishlist
   Version: unspecified
  Priority: NOR
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
Summary: keep deleted mail from other users
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux
  Reporter: diego.ercol...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Component: general
   Product: kmail2

caused by problems that I have described in bug #Bug 294027 I cannot use kmail
anymore. I've opted for clawsmail that have a feature that is very useful:

I have some cyrus-imap shared folder and in these folder my colleague can
delete mails so from time to time I don't see mails if I don't read before him.

Clawsmail periodically get via IMAP new mails and if some mail is deleted by my
colleague, it shows mail greyed out telling that it had deleted but I can
always see that mail for a while. After a period (I don't know if it is
customizable) deleted mails disappears.

I think this feature is very useful.

The mailbox I have is about 13 messages organized in folders. With
Thunderbird there is no problem at all so is not a imap server (Cyrus) issue.
