[kontact] [Bug 488874] New: Akonadi kontact module and address group management issues
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=488874 Bug ID: 488874 Summary: Akonadi kontact module and address group management issues Classification: Applications Product: kontact Version: 5.24.5 Platform: openSUSE OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: major Priority: NOR Component: contacts Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: diego.ercol...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- Hello , I've recently upgraded openSUSE to 15.6 versione, the issues I siognal are also present in the old release of akonadi's kontact/kmail module. (I filled also a bug in the vendor bugreport: https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1226688 These are the modules version I currently have: kaddressbook-lang-23.08.5-bp156.1.2.noarch kaddressbook-23.08.5-bp156.1.2.x86_64 kaddressbook-doc-23.08.5-bp156.1.2.noarch kontact-debuginfo-23.08.5-bp156.1.2.x86_64 kontact-lang-23.08.5-bp156.1.2.noarch kontact-23.08.5-bp156.1.2.x86_64 kontact-debugsource-23.08.5-bp156.1.2.x86_64 kmail-account-wizard-lang-23.08.5-bp156.1.2.noarch kmail-lang-23.08.5-bp156.1.3.noarch kmail-account-wizard-23.08.5-bp156.1.2.x86_64 kmailtransport-lang-23.08.5-bp156.1.1.noarch kmail-23.08.5-bp156.1.3.x86_64 kmail-application-icons-23.08.5-bp156.1.3.x86_64 kmailtransport-23.08.5-bp156.1.1.x86_64 I currently use kontact as my primary groupware tool in interaction with my colleagues I need to use group of email address to send comunications. It's very difficult to edit/create these group as you have to manually enter email address in the GUI, it would be better to have a "point and click" selection of address from the addressbook or create directly a group from the addresses of a mail message. After creating the address group frequently the kontact client crashes very annoying The annoying bug I try to explain today is that even if you set in the kmail sendmessage dialog another group name, the client, during the send process (the group isn't evaluated after pressing enter but only after the message is sent) the group is evaluated with the erroneous group of email addresses so you have a surprise whenever you select an address group. This make this feature unusable at all. I'm very courious to know if this problem is only my peculiarity or is a common issue, this because since I tried to use address groups I faced this kind of problem so I suspected was only my issue and didn't fill a bugreport, but after years I suspect this is a common issue) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

The problem is that from a point in time google control *partecipant *organizer of the appointment. If neither the organizer or a partecipant is recognized as google's account, google refuses to commit the change to the calendar. I solved installing thunderbird but for me since december isn't possible to use kmail. I tryied to remove all the akonadi DB and reinitialize it. I cannot get it working again. [kmail2] [Bug 395950] New: akonadi data clean make service folder random
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=395950 Bug ID: 395950 Summary: akonadi data clean make service folder random Product: kmail2 Version: 5.7.3 Platform: openSUSE RPMs OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: folders Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: diego.ercol...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- I have Italian localization so I don't know the "original" names. I have the last Leap 15.0 distribution so is the "current" version In the kmail interface you have the "preferred folder" that you can copy from the folder tree to the window of the preferred folder and so you have an useful direct folder selection that it's important when, like me, you have a very deep tree of many years structured email. The problem is facing whenever (for instability and poor performance og akonadi indexing) I have to clean all the akonadi data (akonadictl stop; rm -rf ~/.local/share/akonadi; akonadictl start), then, when starting kmail the preferred folder window has a list of folder that are pointing to a random destination in the tree list, so (for example) the inbox shortcut folder is pointing to archived sent mail without any apparent reason. This issue happen every time to every version of kmail I ever used. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[kmail2] [Bug 351219] kmail gui freeze apparently loosing time in QTextBlock::textDirection()
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=351219 --- Comment #3 from Diego Ercolani diego.ercol...@gmail.com --- As it was impossible for me to use kmail and do normal communication during working time it seem I solved the problem with this workaround: I exited akonadi (akonadictl stop) and kmail (pkill kmail) then I removed: ~/.kde4/share/apps/kmail2 ~/.kde4/share/config/kmail2rc ~/.kde4/share/config/kmail-migratorrc ~/.kde4/share/config/kmail.eventsrc really i noticed that under ~/.kde4/share/apps/kmail2/autosave there was a file that probably was a message autosave and was the problem, unfortunately I didn't backup it -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

KDE / Kontact / KMail 4.14.1 Moreover, when used with right click, if a Contact has multiple addresses, only the default address will be used. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=322958 Diego diego...@zoho.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC||diego...@zoho.com --- Comment #12 from Diego diego...@zoho.com --- For reference, this is what I found about the duplicates: [15:00] panda84kde dvratil: I see. I have two copies of inbox, two of outbox and two of sent-mail, however one is in english, the other one is localized in italian (my language) [15:01] dvratil that sounds like a possible issue [15:01] panda84kde so I have inbox and in arrivo, outbox and in uscita and sent-mail and inviata [15:01] dvratil do both versions contain the same emails? [15:02] panda84kde I must say that I've changed language this morning to report english string, but usually I use italian [15:03] panda84kde dvratil: the italian ones have no content total = 0, size = 0B, the english ones have no description strings total = , size = [15:04] dvratil ok, so I guess it's safe to pick one and delete it :) [15:06] panda84kde dvratil: whohoa! (deleting italian folders worked) [15:06] dvratil \o/ [15:07] * panda84kde tries reverting to italian to see what happens [15:07] dvratil panda84kde, so this happened after you changed your KDE locales? [15:07] panda84kde dvratil: I'm sorry. No. :( [15:08] dvratil do you remember whether the folders were called english or italian before 4.11? [15:08] panda84kde dvratil: I changed locale because I had the problem and I wanted to share the problem using strings in english [15:09] panda84kde 99% italian [15:10] panda84kde however, now they got *renamed* from english to their italian counterpart [15:10] dvratil hmm, ok...still - sounds like this could be the trigger - I recall that someone had exactly the same problem - duplicates in local language [15:10] dvratil migration issue? [15:12] panda84kde my suspesct is somehow this: I had somehow weirdly named local folder, which got fixed, though duplicated, moving to 4.11. Mind that i'm a Kontact user since something like 4.2 [15:13] panda84kde so probably I had something bad from the past. [15:13] dvratil probably [15:29] panda84kde dvratil: now I can change from italian to english and viceversa and the folders just get renamed. [15:35] panda84kde dvratil: moreover I *had* messages in the inbox / sent-mail folders, but they wheren't listed. Now they are present in my folders (although while using Kontact in english I removed the italian folders) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=315022 --- Comment #1 from Diego Agulló aeo...@gmail.com --- By the way, closing KMail, restarting akonadi (akonadictl restart) and fetching the mails from Thunderbird (and closing it afterwards) makes akonadi clean the duplicated messages, so they are definitely not cloned remotely on the Exchange server. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
[Akonadi] [Bug 315022] New: Akonadi fetching same mails endlessly (Exchange 2010 over IMAP)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=315022 Bug ID: 315022 Summary: Akonadi fetching same mails endlessly (Exchange 2010 over IMAP) Classification: Unclassified Product: Akonadi Version: 4.10 Platform: Ubuntu Packages URL: http://i.imgur.com/M3qBdHG.png OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: grave Priority: NOR Component: IMAP resource Assignee: er...@kde.org Reporter: aeo...@gmail.com CC: kdepim-bugs@kde.org, vkra...@kde.org Akonadi fetches the same mails over and over from an Exchange 2010 server over IMAP. The mails are displayed and notifications are raised, but the duplicated mails (see linked screenshot) are disabled and thus can't be interacted with: one couldn't mark them as read, see its contents or open them on a new window. Mail count for the subscribed folder raises aswell: the attached screenshot shows 64 unread mails, but there are just three of them (real, unique, unread mails). By the time I finished reporting this bug the count has raised to 86 (and counting). May have something to do with #264266 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Configure an Exchange 2010 account over IMAP (didn't try with other servers, sorry about that). 2. Open KMail and wait to receive the messages. 3. They are received fine, but they'll keep duplicating after some minutes. Actual Results: Every unread mail received is duplicated, but the clones are disabled. Expected Results: Receive a mail just once, not many times for the very same mail. I'm reporting that as an akonadi bug - not kmail, as closing kmail doesn't prevent akonadi from fetching mails on the background. I'm using Kubuntu 12.10 with Kubuntu backports PPA enabled. $ kmail --version Qt: 4.8.3 KDE Development Platform: 4.10.00 KMail: 4.10 $ akonadiserver --version Akonadi 1.9.0 Please let me know whether I can provide any other information about my setup to help you triage the bug. I tested on two different machines (desktop and laptop) with the very same results. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

This is what happened: [19:08] panda84kde hi everybody. Can anybody help me to debug a problem I currently have with Kontact? The Kontact (4.8.3) GUI got stuck and wasn't responding. I force closed it and restarted again, but the GUI doesn't open up anymore. [19:09] panda84kde I've tried starting it from command line and the only output I get is loaded the Generic plugin and nothing more. [19:09] panda84kde te [19:09] dfaure when you close it, does it really completely terminate? check with Ctrl+Esc, that it's not running anymore [19:10] vkrause a hanging Nepomuk query service could cause that [19:11] panda84kde dfaure: thanks. yes, by force close i mean kill it. no process opened [19:12] panda84kde vkrause: how can I check if I have a hanging Nepomuk query service? [19:14] vkrause try running qdbus org.kde.nepomuk.services.nepomukqueryservice /nepomukqueryservice, if that hangs as well, that's the problem [19:15] vkrause if it works the only other way to be sure is backtrace on kontact or stopping nepomuk temporarily [19:17] panda84kde no, that command doesn't hang: http://pastebin.com/hfRiHixT [19:17] panda84kde ok, I'll install Kontact debug symbols and see what's going on. I still see some nepomuk processes anyway. Should I kill them? [20:02] panda84kde vkrause, dfaure: as soon as I killed virtuoso process, Kontact started immediately. [Bug 297464] New: keep deleted mail from other users
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=297464 Bug ID: 297464 Severity: wishlist Version: unspecified Priority: NOR Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Summary: keep deleted mail from other users Classification: Unclassified OS: Linux Reporter: diego.ercol...@gmail.com Hardware: Other Status: UNCONFIRMED Component: general Product: kmail2 caused by problems that I have described in bug #Bug 294027 I cannot use kmail anymore. I've opted for clawsmail that have a feature that is very useful: I have some cyrus-imap shared folder and in these folder my colleague can delete mails so from time to time I don't see mails if I don't read before him. Clawsmail periodically get via IMAP new mails and if some mail is deleted by my colleague, it shows mail greyed out telling that it had deleted but I can always see that mail for a while. After a period (I don't know if it is customizable) deleted mails disappears. I think this feature is very useful. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
