[Bug 158365] Autocomplete fileds should match vocals with/without accents (áéíóú)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=158365 --- Comment #4 from Dotan Cohen kde-51 dotancohen com 2011-02-02 21:19:23 --- As modern Hebrew does not have the J sound, when transliterating non-Hebrew names we sometimes use the G (ג) letter with an apostrophe. For instance, the name Jarred could be written as either ג'רד or גרד. Therefore, as either way could be written (even inconsistently by the same person), Korganizer should ignore the apostrophe in searches. A search on ג'רד should match both ג'רד and גרד, and a search on גרד should also match both ג'רד and גרד. Note that some other characters should be ignored in searches as well, such as the Hebrew vowel points. When a contact is named דוֹתָן then a search for דותן should turn him up as well. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=158365 --- Comment #5 from Dotan Cohen kde-51 dotancohen com 2011-02-02 21:20:19 --- In English an example of such a character would be the hyphen. The name Ben-Solman could be typed Ben Solman for instance. In Hebrew the letter Yod and the character Geresh (apostrophe) are often eliminated in names, and just as often included. This is very problematic and even strict adherence to either an include all or eleminate all policy from the user's perspective is not enough to eliminate the problem. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

You suggest that feature-incomplete software replace their feature-complete counterparts and be pushed to end users to get feedback? What feedback do you want? I personally compared Kaddressbook 4.3 to 4.4 and filed bugs that listed all feature regression, some of which were major. Want other feedback do you need from _end_users_ at that point? This is harmfull to commit those important commits in branches Are you suggesting that pushing feature-incomplete experimental versions of otherwise stable software to end users is not harmful? Please tell me, what is the purpose of KDE SC, if not to provide usable software for the end user? From the kde.org homepage: ...dedicated to creating a free and user-friendly computing experience... Shipping feature-incomplete software as a replacement for working software is user-friendly? From the What is KDE page: Our community has developed a wide variety of applications for communication, work, education and entertainment. How do you expect people to use the software for communication, work, education and entertainment when experimental feature-incomplete versions replace stable versions of software? From the What is KDE page: Our products are used by millions of home and office workers, and are being deployed in schools around the world Do you not think that you have some responsibility to the very home and office workers and schools that your flaunt as your users? From the What is KDE page: KDE produces a number of key applications such as ... Kontact, the comprehensive personal information management suite. Kontact is billed as a key KDE application. Thus key functionality is removed from KDE when shipping experimental versions of software to end users. From the What is KDE page: It is our hope and continued ambition that the KDE team will bring open, reliable, stable and monopoly-free computing to the everyday user. Reliable? Stable? Shipping this Kaddresbook version was the exact opposite of reliable or stable. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

Often two contacts have the same personal information. For instance, a married couple would have the same anniversary date, and likely the same home phone number and home address as well. When this is the case (when there is a soft link between contacts' fields), updating one contact's info should update the other's. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

Particularly, the open dialog should have a default as is currently the case, plus the ability to open other applications as well (similar to the Open With dialogue in Dolphin). https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20 --- Comment #3 from Dotan Cohen kde-51 dotancohen com 2009-07-13 13:00:13 --- Hi Dotan! Congratulations, you've filled the bug number #20 ! That's what happens when one goes on a 20 bug streak! I picked a good time! I am reassigning this to KMail, I would suggest to file individual bug reports for each other application that still uses the old classes. Will do, but could you please explain exactly what I need to request from a technical standpoint? I did not realize that this was something that KDE currently supports (that each app would need to add) because no apps currently do this. In a perfect world this request would not be necessary, however, Kontact has been very crash-prone in KDE 3 and KDE 4, so a feature like this would be great. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
[Bug 164091] add wiki functionality to Kontact
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=164091 Dotan Cohen kd...@dotancohen.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC||kd...@dotancohen.com --- Comment #5 from Dotan Cohen kde-3 dotancohen com 2009-05-30 18:19:29 --- By far the best personal wiki available is Zim: http://zim-wiki.org/ That application is now getting ported to Python but it remains a GTK application. If KDE devs want to create a wiki, then Zim would be the best application to copy. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
[Bug 160618] [wish] no birthday view for all contacts
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160618 Dotan Cohen kd...@dotancohen.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC||kd...@dotancohen.com --- Comment #1 from Dotan Cohen kde-3 dotancohen com 2009-05-30 18:21:43 --- I suppose that the best way to handle this would be to show all birthdays by default, then give the option of eliminating them on an individual basis. Note that this would be valid for both the summary view and for the Korganizer integration. A workaround would be to store those birthdays that you do not want to show in Summary in a custom field, or in the Notes field. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
