[kmail2] [Bug 352464] Regression kMail 5.0.0: HTML mails do not show external images
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=352464 --- Comment #5 from Gunter Ohrner <kdeb...@customcdrom.de> --- (In reply to Allen Winter from comment #4) > Gunter, fixed for you too? > If so, we can resolve. It has not been fixed "just by itself." I have not reinstalled so far and honestly I'm not really keen on doing so if it can be avoided in any way. It usually literally takes months until the last bits and pieces of my system are back in place, especially seldom used applications or features which I only notice are missing when I try to use them - but which I need quickly in this case... I wonder what may cause these issues which cannot be fixed by a fresh $HOME but will be resolved by a reinstallation. (Interesting side note/question for Alex: Did you restore your previous $HOME to your new installation, and images in kMail did still work?) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

You're absolutely right, sorry. I'm not sure any more why I chose to reopen this bug instead of filing a new one, but a feature not working as desired definitely is a different problem than not even being able to invoke that feature... That reminds me of a quote by kernel hacker Karol 'sziwan' Kozimor: "I would actually distinguish between problems with compiling the kernel, and problems with the kernel after compiling." (No, back then this comment was *not* triggered by some statement from me, but it still fits pretty good in this case... ;) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

[kmail] [Bug 185818] extremely slow IMAP performance, displaying mails takes minutes
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=185818 --- Comment #15 from Gunter Ohrner <kdeb...@customcdrom.de> --- (In reply to Michael D from comment #14) > Kmail2 can still be pretty slow at showing emails, especially ones just > downloaded, at least if "Download all messages for offline use" is > UNchecked. This is version 4.81 beta 1. *This* bug specfically concerns slowdows caused by remembered searches and can be worked around as described above if it happens. kMail / Akonadi currently does have other severe performance issues, though, which can cause delays up to several minutes simply after switching folders until kMail is fully usable again. [kmail2] [Bug 352604] New: (Regression?) kMail 5.0.x: kMail always "syncs" IMAP folder whenever it is opened, even if its unchanged
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=352604 Bug ID: 352604 Summary: (Regression?) kMail 5.0.x: kMail always "syncs" IMAP folder whenever it is opened, even if its unchanged Product: kmail2 Version: unspecified Platform: Kubuntu Packages OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: kdeb...@customcdrom.de As far as I can say, I've not had this problem with kMail 4.14.x (or any older version) before and it's pretty annoying: I'm using kMail to access a normal IMAP account. kMail and the IMAP server are running on the same machine, the IMAP server used is a Dovecot 2.2.9. All data is on a fast SSD and the system is a dualcore Core i7 Ivy Bridge with 3 GHz with 12 GB RAM and plenty of it still free. Whenever I switch folders, kMail resynchronizes the folder, even if it definitely has not changed. At least somtimes, kMail even synchronizes a folder *twice* after opening it once, causing the delay to double until mails in this folder can be accessed. In kMail 4.14.x and before and if I remember correctly, the folder was only resynchronized if its contents changed since the last visit, eg. new mails had been dropped there. Additionally, IIRC synchronization was only ever done once per opening a folder. Due to an unresolved severe performance regression introduced in kMail or Akonadi 4.14 (see bug #338571), this causes kMail or Akonadi to hammer the local MySQL server used as the Akonadi backend and takes (felt) ages for larger folders. So in case I eg. switch (what I do quite often) to my IMAP "Sent" folder which contains about 37000 messages, I always have to wait a whole minute until I can access e-mails in it (two sychronizations, each taking about 30 seconds). During that time, MySQL takes quite a bit of CPU but especially writes data like mad... Is there anything which could be done to require the sychronization frequency? And I still hope the original bug #338571 performance regression in Akonadi will be tackled one day... Select a mail and 2. invoke "Message/Create event". Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Select a mail and 2. invoke "Message/Create event". Actual Results: A new event with the title "Reply to " (actually "Antwort an" in my locale, "Reply to" is the probably original untranslated string) is generated. I do not understand why "Reply to" is prepended to an event's title? An event is no reply. Expected Results: A new event is created, the title of which matches the message subject it's based on. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

Unfortunately, this does not help always - eg. if I switch from one network to another and kill/rerun dhclient to get network connectivity in the other network, kMail will stop to work, insisting that it does not have a network connection. The commands from Comment 2 do not help at all - kMail always states in the status bar that it will continue network access only if a network connection was recognized. It worked fine with KDE Applications 14.12 and kMail 4.14.2 in Kubuntu 14.10 before. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Enable Message structure view in View menu. 2. Select a message with consists of multiple MIME parts, eg. an combined HTML/text mail. 3. Click on of the message parts in the structure view. Synchronisation literally takes dozends of seconds (for eg. folders containing about thirty thousand messages [30,000]) during which I can see the progress bar in the lower right window corner slowly advance to 100%. Once a folder's sync completed, I can use kMail some time until this folder is re-syncronized again that slowly. (Other folders may still interrupt work for synchronization during that time, however.) kMail from KDE 4.13.0 did never show this behaviour, sync was always pretty fast. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=334612 --- Comment #10 from Gunter Ohrner kdeb...@customcdrom.de --- It's sort of fixed if a) text is selected and b) you press enter (or space) while the cursor is located in a quoted line. [kmail2] [Bug 329029] New: Regression: Auto-quoting when pressing Enter in replys (to text mails?) does not work any more
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=329029 Bug ID: 329029 Summary: Regression: Auto-quoting when pressing Enter in replys (to text mails?) does not work any more Classification: Unclassified Product: kmail2 Version: 4.11.3 Platform: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: composer Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: kdeb...@customcdrom.de Traditionally, when replying to text mails (I don't use HTML, so I don't know how it worked/works for this format), I could edit quoted text and press enter in the middle of a line, and kMail would split the line, prepending the newly created line with the quotation character and a space. This made manually reflowing quoted lines pretty easy. Since about KDE 4.11 (I think), this feature is broken: Now splitting a quoted line using Enter will NOT insert a quotation mark and space character at the start of the newly created line, requiring several additional keystrokes for each line edited this way. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Reply to a (text?) mail 2. Position the cursor in the middle of a quoted line. 3. Press Enter. Actual Results: The line will be split and a new line without a quotation character prefix will be created. I still know that some of the mails were quite important, so I'd like to get a reminder whom I'll have to write again... Unfortunately, I've not yet found a way to actively trigger this behaviour. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: Write emails which fail to be sent. I've experienced this behaviour both a) with emails which were invalid and rejected by the server (due to bug 284685) b) as well as with valid mails written while there was no network connection and which were queued using the send later feature. In case b) I suspended the computer a few times and everytime I woke it up (still without network connection) I got quite a few error notification popups telling me about send failures. The mails will queue up in the local outbox folder, which will be displayed in the folder tree as containing X unread mails. When I was just about to send my mails, I just quickly wanted to browse the list of pending messages before connecting to the network and sending everything. So I clicked the outbox in the folder tree view to see the message list. Actual Results: Just as it happened before I wrote bug 284685 comment 9, the folder list with all pending messages was displayed and one mail after another quickly disappeared from the view until only one remained. There still was no network connection at this time! When I connected to the network and invoked Send outbox messages, only the one remaining message was sent. There does not seem to be any trace left of the messages I saw disappearing - they are not in the outbox any more, they are not in the local Sent Messages folder, they are not in my IMAPs Sent Messages folder and they have not been sent according to my mail server's logs. They are gone. Expected Results: Pending messages in the outbox should not disappear when opening the folder. [Bug 290378] New: Wrong cursor position in editor window after switching sender identity.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=290378 Summary: Wrong cursor position in editor window after switching sender identity. Product: kmail2 Version: 4.7 Platform: Ubuntu Packages OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: composer AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org ReportedBy: kdeb...@customcdrom.de Version: 4.7 (using Devel) OS:Linux I configured kmail to position the editor cursor below the quoted text. If open a new mail, switch the sender identity and tab to the text editor window (most often after filling out receipient address and subject line), the cursor is positioned after the signature instead of on top of it. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: * Open a new message window. * Switch to a sender identity which uses a signature (a static signature in my case). * Tab from to the identity selector box to the message editor window, optionally filling out all required edit fields on the way. Actual Results: Once the message editor gets the focus, the text cursor is positioned after the signature. Expected Results: The cursor should be positioned after the quoted text but before the signature, just as its done if I do not switch the sender identity before filling all fields and tabbing to the message editor. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

After upgrading to KDEPIM 4.7.x and kmail2, kmail does not find any address book entry that has more than one email address. ie. if I enter gunter into the address field, my address book record is not found, as it have 5 email adresses assigned. If a substring matches an address book record that has only a single email address assigned, this address is displayed. I also had the impression that the substring search became case-sensitive in KDEPIM 4.7.x, but I cannot check at the moment as email address lookup does not work at all at the moment... It did yesterday, no idea what's wrong... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
[Bug 284673] New: Regression: Forwarded messages are not marked as such in the message list
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=284673 Summary: Regression: Forwarded messages are not marked as such in the message list Product: kmail2 Version: 4.7 Platform: Ubuntu Packages OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: NOR Component: message list AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org ReportedBy: kdeb...@customcdrom.de Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.2) OS:Linux Forwarded messages are not marked as such in the message list (traditional layout, one row per message) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Forward a message, eg. Forward as attachment Actual Results: The message is not flagged / marked in any way. Expected Results: kMail up to KDE 4.6 would show a forwarded icon next to the message's subject line in the message list. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
[Bug 284676] New: Dragging messages to collapsed folder with subfolders will expand subfolders even after releasing the mouse button
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=284676 Summary: Dragging messages to collapsed folder with subfolders will expand subfolders even after releasing the mouse button Product: kmail2 Version: 4.7 Platform: Ubuntu Packages OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: folders AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org ReportedBy: kdeb...@customcdrom.de Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.2) OS:Linux Finally kmail expands collapsed folders with subfolders again while hovering above them with dragged messages, great! Unfortunately, the folder will also expand after the mouse button has already been released and the drop action menu shows. This is annoying as once I release the mouse button I have already found the correct drop target, so kmail does not need to present any additonal ones. The drop target folder always has to be collapsed manually after DnD. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Drag messages to a collapsed folder with subfolders. Release the mouse button just after reaching the target folder. Actual Results: The drop action popup menu (Copy, Move, Cancel) will appear and shortly thereafter the target folder will expand, showing its subfolders. Expected Results: The target folder should not expand if the mouse button has already been released and the drop action popup menu is displayed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
[Bug 284678] New: Dragging messages to folders indicates drop targets *between* folders
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=284678 Summary: Dragging messages to folders indicates drop targets *between* folders Product: kmail2 Version: 4.7 Platform: Ubuntu Packages OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: NOR Component: folders AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org ReportedBy: kdeb...@customcdrom.de Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.2) OS:Linux While dragging messages to the folder tree, the UI indicates possible drop targets between mail folders, which does not make any sense with messages. Dropping a message between two folders even displays the drop action popup menu, but selecting anything in it will cancel the operation. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Drag a message to the folder view, and drag it between two existing folders. Actual Results: The UI displays a line / bar between the folders, indicating a valid drop target. Releasing the mouse button will open the drop action popup menu. Selecting anything in it will silently cancel the invalid operation. Expected Results: The UI should not indicate drop targets for messages between folders. Messages can only be dragged into a folder, not into the folder tree itself. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
