[kmail2] [Bug 352464] Regression kMail 5.0.0: HTML mails do not show external images

2015-10-24 Thread Gunter Ohrner via KDE Bugzilla

--- Comment #5 from Gunter Ohrner <kdeb...@customcdrom.de> ---
(In reply to Allen Winter from comment #4)
> Gunter, fixed for you too?
> If so, we can resolve.

It has not been fixed "just by itself."

I have not reinstalled so far and honestly I'm not really keen on doing so if
it can be avoided in any way.

It usually literally takes months until the last bits and pieces of my system
are back in place, especially seldom used applications or features which I only
notice are missing when I try to use them - but which I need quickly in this
case...

I wonder what may cause these issues which cannot be fixed by a fresh $HOME but
will be resolved by a reinstallation. (Interesting side note/question for Alex:
Did you restore your previous $HOME to your new installation, and images in
kMail did still work?)

You're absolutely right, sorry. I'm not sure any more why I chose to reopen
this bug instead of filing a new one, but a feature not working as desired
definitely is a different problem than not even being able to invoke that
feature...

That reminds me of a quote by kernel hacker Karol 'sziwan' Kozimor: "I would
actually distinguish between problems with compiling the kernel, and problems
with the kernel after compiling." (No, back then this comment was *not*
triggered by some statement from me, but it still fits pretty good in this
case... ;)

[kaddressbook] [Bug 353393] New: Regression kAddressbook 5: Importing vCards from kMail does not work any more

2015-10-01 Thread Gunter Ohrner
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=353393

Bug ID: 353393
Summary: Regression kAddressbook 5: Importing vCards from kMail
does not work any more
   Product: kaddressbook
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: kdeb...@customcdrom.de
CC: to...@kde.org

I'm currently using kMail 5.0.1 and kAddressbook 5.0.1 from stable branch
(Kubuntu KDE CI Stable PPA).

Importing a vCard received as an eMail attachment does not appear to be
possible, it can be displayed in kMail, but no import button is provided (I'm
not sure if there was one in older kMail versions) and attempting to open the
vCard with kAddressbook does not seem to do anything except starting
kAddressbook...

In kMail 4.x / kAddressbook 4.x, importing of vCards definitely worked, I used
it regularly.

Reproducible: Always

[kmail] [Bug 185818] extremely slow IMAP performance, displaying mails takes minutes

*This* bug specfically concerns slowdows caused by remembered searches and can
be worked around as described above if it happens.

kMail / Akonadi currently does have other severe performance issues, though,
which can cause delays up to several minutes simply after switching folders
until kMail is fully usable again. See the following bugs for example, maybe
the behaviour you're experiencing is somehow related to one of those:

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=338571
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=352604

Cionsidering the age of bug 338571 my hope's not too high that it might be
fixed anytime soon, though...

Not sure if there might even be security implications:

A friend of mine sends signed messages which are always

**

I have this public key in my keyring, but it has nothing to do with the mail
that is displayed - if I extract its PGP signature into a separate file and use
gpg to display information about it, the following is displayed:

**
$ LANG= gpg --verify sigfile /dev/null

Neither mail address nor key ID have anything to do with the wrong key that is
picked up for display by kMail...

I'm also not sure why the wrong key is displayed as "trusted" in the first
place - it does not seem to be considered trusted by gpg:

Received iCal event's start / end times are displayed shifted by one hour in

One example contains the following event time information, generated by MS
Exchange:

DTSTART;TZID=W. Europe Standard Time:20150924T15
DTEND;TZID=W. Europe Standard Time:20150924T18

The event's time and duration is displayed as "16:00 - 19:00". Local timezone
according to KDE Systemsettings is "Europe/Berlin (LMT)". (Whatever "LMT" might
mean...)

After importing it into the kOrganizer calendar, the resulting event is shown
with correct start and end times (15:00 - 18:00).

[kmail2] [Bug 352604] New: (Regression?) kMail 5.0.x: kMail always "syncs" IMAP folder whenever it is opened, even if its unchanged

2015-09-12 Thread Gunter Ohrner
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=352604

Bug ID: 352604
Summary: (Regression?) kMail 5.0.x: kMail always "syncs" IMAP
folder whenever it is opened, even if its unchanged
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: kdeb...@customcdrom.de

As far as I can say, I've not had this problem with kMail 4.14.x (or any older
version) before and it's pretty annoying:

I'm using kMail to access a normal IMAP account. kMail and the IMAP server are
running on the same machine, the IMAP server used is a Dovecot 2.2.9. All data
is on a fast SSD and the system is a dualcore Core i7 Ivy Bridge with 3 GHz
with 12 GB RAM and plenty of it still free.

Whenever I switch folders, kMail resynchronizes the folder, even if it
definitely has not changed. At least somtimes, kMail even synchronizes a folder
*twice* after opening it once, causing the delay to double until mails in this
folder can be accessed.

In kMail 4.14.x and before and if I remember correctly, the folder was only
resynchronized if its contents changed since the last visit, eg. new mails had
been dropped there. Additionally, IIRC synchronization was only ever done once
per opening a folder.

Due to an unresolved severe performance regression introduced in kMail or
Akonadi 4.14 (see bug #338571), this causes kMail or Akonadi to hammer the
local MySQL server used as the Akonadi backend and takes (felt) ages for larger
folders.

So in case I eg. switch (what I do quite often) to my IMAP "Sent" folder which
contains about 37000 messages, I always have to wait a whole minute until I can
access e-mails in it (two sychronizations, each taking about 30 seconds).
During that time, MySQL takes quite a bit of CPU but especially writes data
like mad...

Is there anything which could be done to require the sychronization frequency?
And I still hope the original bug #338571 performance regression in Akonadi
will be tackled one day...

Is there anything which could cause this in a folder-specific way? Is there any
way to eg. refresh/rebuild this folder's management information or indices to
check if this fixes the observed behaviour? I could not find anything related
in the folder's properties / maintenance dialog / tab...

(I'm talking about the plain text composer here, I did not test the rich text
composer.)

I just tested the fixed feature and it behaves strangely if you select multiple
rows and the cursor is at the start of the row just below the selected block.
This is always the case eg. if you select multiple rows using the keyboard by
pressing "Shift+Downarrow".

If you then chose "Add Quote Characters", the unselected row which contains the
cursor will be joined to the previous row.

I'll attach some screenshots to illustrate this.

[kmail2] [Bug 352148] New: kMail 5.0.0: Neigbouring message in message list is marked as read

2015-09-02 Thread Gunter Ohrner
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=352148

Bug ID: 352148
Summary: kMail 5.0.0: Neigbouring message in message list is
marked as read
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: message list
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: kdeb...@customcdrom.de

I've set the "mark as read" delay to 0 seconds (immediately).

I've now observed twice or thrice that after reading a mail, the message
immediately above it in the message list also had been marked as read.

I currently tried to find a way to reproduce it at will, but couldn't...

Reproducible: Sometimes

[kmail2] [Bug 352036] Regression: kMail 5.0.0 cannot open links contained in mails

2015-09-02 Thread Gunter Ohrner
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=352036

--- Comment #3 from Gunter Ohrner <kdeb...@customcdrom.de> ---
This look like a race condition:

* Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not.

* The behaviour is independent of the email, ie. using the same email it
sometimes works and sometimes fails.

* Even opening a mail and repeatedly clicking the same link contained therein
will alternate between opening the link and causing the error dialog.

Just for reference: My machine has an SSD, in case there really is a race
condition which could be influenced by disk perfmance.

I can now reproduce it:

Prepare you IMAP inbox to contain two subsequent unread messages, eg. by
sorting by date and sending yourself two messages.

Move the lower message into another folder. The message below it will be
selected for display after the moved message disappears, but the second unread
message *above* will be marked as read although it has not been displayed.

Ok, probably a configuration problem.

kAddressbook was configured to open the address in a web browser using a manual
URL, possibly a configuration setting migrated from an older application
version?

After configuring kAddressbook to either use MapQuest or Google Maps, opening
the address in a web browser works.

In kOrganizer I had a readonly calendar based on an iCal file accessible via a
http-URL.

The Akonadi / kOrganizer upgrade lost all of my calendars (only the Akonadi
cache, the backing files have not been touched), and re-adding the local
calendars worked (except the event categories seem to be lost), but adding the
remote calendar was not possible any more.

The new calendar shows up as akonadi_ical_resource_54 in kOrganizer's
calendar list, cannot be renamed, and the calendar URL is always empty when
displaying the calendar's settings / properties.

[kmail2] [Bug 343034] KMail insists on offline mode, even when network connection is available

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=343034

--- Comment #4 from Gunter Ohrner kdeb...@customcdrom.de ---
(In reply to Gunter Ohrner from comment #3)
Shutting down the network interface and re-running dhclient while kMail is
running however works, kMail somehow gets notified and can send mail from
 this point on...

Unfortunately, this does not help always - eg. if I switch from one network to
another and kill/rerun dhclient to get network connectivity in the other
network, kMail will stop to work, insisting that it does not have a network
connection.

The commands from Comment 2 do not help at all - kMail always states in the
status bar that it will continue network access only if a network connection
was recognized.

Network and internet connection DOES work fine for me, however - Thunderbird
works and the web is also accessible, otherwise I could not submit this
message... ;)

Pretty annoying, is there any other workaround which might help in my case?

[kmail2] [Bug 346946] New: Regression in 4.14.6 compared to 4.14.2: Single click does not work any more in message structure view

2015-04-30 Thread Gunter Ohrner
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=346946

Bug ID: 346946
Summary: Regression in 4.14.6 compared to 4.14.2: Single click
does not work any more in message structure view
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: UI
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: kdeb...@customcdrom.de

Since my recent upgrade to Kubuntu 15.04 and Kubuntu Backports PPA, KDE's
single click does not work any more in the message structure view. (Enable in
View menu, Show message structure.)

Installed are KDE Applications 15.04 with kMail 4.14.6 (Unfortunately this
version is not present in the version selector list box here in Bugzilla).

It worked fine with KDE Applications 14.12 and kMail 4.14.2 in Kubuntu 14.10
before.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Enable Message structure view in View menu.
2. Select a message with consists of multiple MIME parts, eg. an combined
HTML/text mail.
3. Click on of the message parts in the structure view.

Actual Results:
The part gets selected in the structure view. The displayed contents in the
message window do not change.

Expected Results:
The part gets selected in the structure view and the displayed contents update
to show the selected message part only. (This has been the behaviour in kMail
4.14.2 and before.)

If you double click the message part in kMail 4.14.6, the content view changes
/ updates, but unfortunately and contrary to my KDE settings, a single click is
not sufficient.

Single clicking in the folder tree and message list works as expected.

Mh, maybe this is no kMail specific problem after all, but related to the
remaining KDE-4-applications not respecting the single click settings any
more at all?

The file dialogs for example show the same behaviour:

KDE-5-applications from Applications 15.04 running on KDE Framework 5.9.0 seem
to honour the single click setting in file open dialogs etc., but
KDE-4.14.6-applications apparently do not seem to and suddenly require double
clicks to switch directories in file dialogs.

Yesterday I upgraded from Kubuntu 14.10 to 15.04, in both cases using the
Kubuntu Backports and Update PPAs.

The upgrade changed kMail from 4.14.2 to 4.14.6. Note that I'm currently still
using upstart instead of systemd because with systemd the system does not boot
to the login prompt but simply stops midway.

Since the upgrade, I'm running into this problem - I'm starting my wired
network connection manually using dhclient. kMail will not recognize the
network connection and manually switching the mail sending agent to online mode
will also not work.

Shutting down the network interface and re-running dhclient while kMail is
running however works, kMail somehow gets notified and can send mail from this
point on...

[kmail2] [Bug 338625] New: Regression from 4.13: Quick filter does not really work any more (see description for details)

2014-08-28 Thread Gunter Ohrner
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=338625

Bug ID: 338625
Summary: Regression from 4.13: Quick filter does not really
work any more (see description for details)
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.14.0
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: message list
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: kdeb...@customcdrom.de

Bug 1: kMail does not search for short strings (eg. 2-letter search strings) at
all

Bug 2: If I enter a longer search string, the message list gets filtered. If I
now delete the search string using backspace or Ctrl-A followed by delete,
the message list remains filtered. You have to enter some search text and click
the X-arrow at the right of the input field to remove the list's filter.

However, this used to work in kMail 4.13.x and older, if I'm not mistaken...

Since upgrading to KDE 4.14.0, kMail often is very slow when synchronizing
bigger IMAP folders (the IMAP server running locally).

Synchronisation literally takes dozends of seconds (for eg. folders containing
about thirty thousand messages [30,000]) during which I can see the progress
bar in the lower right window corner slowly advance to 100%.

Once a folder's sync completed, I can use kMail some time until this folder is
re-syncronized again that slowly. (Other folders may still interrupt work for
synchronization during that time, however.)

kMail from KDE 4.13.0 did never show this behaviour, sync was always pretty
fast.

Syncing takes over 70 seconds for the aforementioned folder, running on a
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3540M CPU @ 3.00GHz with 12 GB RAM and an Samsung 840 EVO
SSD.

During that time, a mysqld process is maxing out one core.

[kmail2] [Bug 334612] Selecting text and pressing enter doesn't replace the text but only adds a newline

2014-05-22 Thread Gunter Ohrner
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=334612

--- Comment #10 from Gunter Ohrner kdeb...@customcdrom.de ---
It's sort of fixed if
a) text is selected and
b) you press enter (or space) while the cursor is located in a quoted line.

In this case, the selection is replaced.

If, however, some text is selected and the cursor is NOT in a quoted line while
you press enter (or space), then the bug prevails and the selection is NOT
replaced.

Also pasting LibreOffice tables into kMails raw-text editor (non-html-mails)
does not work.

Pasting to kate works fine (produces tab-delimited text), copy-pasting from
kate to kMail composer afterwards also works fine.

I also upgraded LibreOffice and kMail in parallel (upgrade to Kubuntu 14.04),
so I'm not sure which application is responsible.

No, the bug is sadly not fixed. :-(
Running 4.13.1 under Fedora (kde-unstable packages).
 So still update it :)

He says he's already running 4.13.1, so to what version is he supposed to
update?

I'm also running 4.13.1 on Kubuntu 14.04 (About dialog: KMail Version 4.13.1
unter KDE 4.13.1) and bug clearly is not fixed.

The behaviour if ENTER is pressed is as expected if the line is quoted (which
seems to be what your if statement checks), but it's still wrong if a line is
not quoted. In this case, an ENTER or SPACE does not replace the selected text,
but simply adds the newline or space character in front of or after the
selected text.

Additional information: If the selection spans multiple lines, some quoted and
some not, the behaviour if ENTER or SPACE is pressed does not depend on the
selected area but on the row the cursor is positioned in.

If if (parts of) three lines are selected and the cursor is positioned in a
quoted line, pressing ENTER or SPACE will replace the selected text by a
newline or space character, as expected.

If if (parts of) three lines are selected and the cursor is positioned in a
not-quoted line, pressing ENTER or SPACE will simply add a newline or space

[kmail2] [Bug 329029] New: Regression: Auto-quoting when pressing Enter in replys (to text mails?) does not work any more

2013-12-20 Thread Gunter Ohrner
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=329029

Bug ID: 329029
Summary: Regression: Auto-quoting when pressing Enter in replys
(to text mails?) does not work any more
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.11.3
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: composer
  Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
  Reporter: kdeb...@customcdrom.de

Traditionally, when replying to text mails (I don't use HTML, so I don't know
how it worked/works for this format), I could edit quoted text and press enter
in the middle of a line, and kMail would split the line, prepending the newly
created line with the quotation character and a space.

This made manually reflowing quoted lines pretty easy.

Since about KDE 4.11 (I think), this feature is broken:

Now splitting a quoted line using Enter will NOT insert a quotation mark and
space character at the start of the newly created line, requiring several
additional keystrokes for each line edited this way.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Reply to a (text?) mail
2. Position the cursor in the middle of a quoted line.
3. Press Enter.
Actual Results:
The line will be split and a new line without a quotation character prefix will
be created.

Expected Results:
A new line prefixed with the default quotation character will be created.

The bug still persists in KDE 4.10.1 / kMail 4.10.1, so this bug exists in at
least the releases 4.8, 4.9, 4.10 and 4.7.0-4.7.3.

Laurent Montel fixed this for KDE 4.7.4 as stated in bug 289534 in December
2011(!), but apparently the fix was never merged to trunk.

Please merge / port the fix to 4.10 and trunk as the usability of GPG-encrypted
mails without any way to save the contained attachments is significantly
hampered...

Mh - I did nothing else besides what is written above, but address completion
does work now. I completely disabled Nepomuk indexers again, only semantic
services is still enabled.

Please don't ask me why it works now and did not before - for several months,

Auto-completion of users who have multiple addresses also works fine now.

Not rock solid seems to be a pretty accurate description of this behaviour...

I tried to, but Nepomuk / Strigi / Virtuoso / Whatever has now been working for
several days, severly hampering system performance (although its running
niced) and I had not the slightest idea when it would finish, so I disabled
it again - I need my system for work, so waiting several additional days for
the indexing to finish while all other operations are significantly slowed down
is not an option, sorry. :-(
(According to the systray applet, even indexing trivial files like tiny .txts
or .icos takes about 2 seconds, which means running at 100% cpu usage for
several days or longer if more complex files need more time.)

At least while the indexer was running, mail address completion still did not
work.

Maybe my whole Nepomuk stuff is completely messed up, I don't know.

[Bug 284681] Regression: kmail2 does not offer receipients from the address book which have more than one email address

2012-11-25 Thread Gunter Ohrner
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=284681

--- Comment #7 from Gunter Ohrner kdeb...@customcdrom.de ---
I'm currently using KDE 4.9.3 and at the moment kMail does not provide any
address completion at all, besides searching the recently used address list.

I had Nepomuk disabled completely for quite some time, as it consumed so much
memory my computer was not usable any more while it was active and it was
pretty bug-ridden until KDE 4.9, so address completion could not work.

I recently enabled it again in KDE 4.9 and with a slightly upgraded RAM in my
notebook, but address completion unfortunately still does not work. (Nepomuk is
running, but file indexing and mail indexing are still disabled for performance
reasons and the always-reindexing-files-with-non-ASCII-characters-in-names Bug
305903 .)

I had not had the time and nerve to have a closer look at this problem so far,
but would be grateful for any pointers nonetheless...

Yes, this functionality is not yet implemented as of kMail 4.9 and sometimes it
would be a handy feature to emphasize / quote fragments in text-only emails.

As far as I can tell, both suggested solutions (direct implementation of ROT13

are still not available in kMail 4.9 and would be handy at times.

[Bug 285301] Subject line in message list unescaped twice

--- Comment #4 from Gunter Ohrner kdeb...@customcdrom.de ---
Still valid in:

KMail, Version 4.8.2, Unter KDE 4.8.2 (4.8.2)

I just received a new mail which shows this behaviour:

Actual subject header:

Subject:
=?UTF-8?Q?=3D=3Futf-8=3FB=3FR2VzY2jDpGZ0c21vZGVsbGUgaW4gZGVyIFNvZnR3YXJ?=
=?UTF-8?Q?laW5kdXN0cmllOiBFaW5lIFVtZnJhZ2UgZGVyIFRVIERhcm1zdGFkdA=3D=3D?=
=?UTF-8?Q?=3F=3D?=

In the message window, this is correctly displayed as:

=?utf-8?B?R2VzY2jDpGZ0c21vZGVsbGUgaW4gZGVyIFNvZnR3YXJlaW5kdXN0cmllOiBFaW5lIFVtZnJhZ2UgZGVyIFRVIERhcm1zdGFkdA==?=

In the message list, it's fully decoded and readable, which I consider to be
wrong.

[Bug 294360] New: Data loss: Pending message in outbox disappear without a trace

2012-02-18 Thread Gunter Ohrner
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=294360

Summary: Data loss: Pending message in outbox disappear without
a trace
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.8
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: kdeb...@customcdrom.de

Version: 4.8 (using KDE 4.8.0)
OS:Linux

Gee, that's annoying. :-(

The data loss behaviour I first described in bug 284685 comment 9 just happened
again, unfortunately this time with several lengthy manually written emails.

:-(((

Do you think there is any way to get my messages / mail texts back or at least
to obtain a list of receipients - there were I few mails waiting to be sent and
I cannot remember to whom I wrote. I still know that some of the mails were
quite important, so I'd like to get a reminder whom I'll have to write
again...

Unfortunately, I've not yet found a way to actively trigger this behaviour.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
Write emails which fail to be sent. I've experienced this behaviour both

a) with emails which were invalid and rejected by the server (due to bug
284685)

b) as well as with valid mails written while there was no network connection
and
which were queued using the send later feature.
In case b) I suspended the computer a few times and everytime I woke it up
(still without network connection) I got quite a few error notification
popups
   telling me about send failures.

The mails will queue up in the local outbox folder, which will be displayed in
the folder tree as containing X unread mails.

When I was just about to send my mails, I just quickly wanted to browse the
list of pending messages before connecting to the network and sending
everything.

So I clicked the outbox in the folder tree view to see the message list.

Actual Results:
Just as it happened before I wrote bug 284685 comment 9, the folder list with
all pending messages was displayed and one mail after another quickly
disappeared from the view until only one remained.

There still was no network connection at this time!

When I connected to the network and invoked Send outbox messages, only the
one remaining message was sent.

There does not seem to be any trace left of the messages I saw disappearing -
they are not in the outbox any more, they are not in the local Sent Messages
folder, they are not in my IMAPs Sent Messages folder and they have not been
sent according to my mail server's logs.

They are gone.

Expected Results:
Pending messages in the outbox should not disappear when opening the folder.
They should wait and stay there until they are sent.

  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: composer
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: kdeb...@customcdrom.de

Version: 4.7 (using Devel)
OS:Linux

I configured kmail to position the editor cursor below the quoted text.

If open a new mail, switch the sender identity and tab to the text editor
window (most often after filling out receipient address and subject line), the
cursor is positioned after the signature instead of on top of it.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
* Open a new message window.
* Switch to a sender identity which uses a signature (a static signature in my
case).
* Tab from to the identity selector box to the message editor window,
optionally filling out all required edit fields on the way.

Actual Results:
Once the message editor gets the focus, the text cursor is positioned after the
signature.

Expected Results:
The cursor should be positioned after the quoted text but before the signature,
just as its done if I do not switch the sender identity before filling all
fields and tabbing to the message editor.

Sorting in at least the following table does not respect the current locale's
collation rules:

Settings - Configure kMail - Identities

if sorted by identity name, umlaut will be sorted after plain letters, ie.
Öcher will be sorted after eg. Web, while in the German locale it would be
correct to sort Öcher as if it would start with the letters Oe. (So it
should be sorted between Oasis and Ohrner.)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Add umlauts to the name of an identity profile.

Actual Results:
Umlauts will be sorted after any plain letter.

Expected Results:
Umlauts should be sorted according to the current locale's rules.

I've not yet checked if there are other affected tables / lists.

[Bug 289533] Invitation confirmation sent to wrong person and contains wrong translation

2011-12-23 Thread Gunter Ohrner
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=289533

--- Comment #3 from Gunter Ohrner kdebugs CustomCDROM de 2011-12-23 08:34:31
---
Not really. The wrong translation is fixed, but that still does not explain the
(from my point of view) swapped sender/receiver addresses in the confirmation
mail, and it does not explain why the meeting's Chair should Accept or
Reject a *confirmation* from a participant.

Maybe I should have split the translation issue into a separate bug. :)

[Bug 289590] New: Replied and forwarded messages are not tagged as such, at least not visually in the message list

2011-12-22 Thread Gunter Ohrner
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=289590

Summary: Replied and forwarded messages are not tagged as such,
at least not visually in the message list
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: message list
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: kdeb...@customcdrom.de

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.3)
OS:Linux

If I reply to a message or forward it, the message is not marked in the message
list.

kMail 1 added icons to the message indicating the actions that had been
performed on it, kMail 2 up to about 4.7.1 at least still marked replied
messages, altough it did not mark forwarded ones.

I reported a bug concerning this which was fixed, updated to kMail post-4.7.3
(kUbuntu-package, identifying itself as 4.7.4), and now both indicators are
missing...

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Replay to or forward any eMail.

Actual Results:
The message is not marked in any way inside the message list.

Expected Results:
The message should get a replied to and/or forwarded icon next to its title
/ subject.

Following sentence if displayed by kMail Ihre Antwort als Sitz wird erbeten

file.

I also do not really understand why kMail requests any action from me at all:
a) I'm not the event's creator (XXX@XXX) but was only invited (XXX2@XXX2).
b) Even if I was the creator / Chair, why would I need to take any action, this
is just a confirmation the the
invited guy (me) confirmed the invitation, right?

Actual Results:
An invitation confirmation with strange to and from addresses was generated by
kMail or kOrganizer: (See Details field above.)

It had my own address as the To address, the creator's address as the From
address, and requested me to confirm the confirmation as the meeting's Sitz,
which is a wrong translation of Chair in this context. Leiter would
probably be the correct translation.

Expected Results:
The confirmation should have been sent to the event's creator, not to me. (To
and From were swapped.)
Additionally, the German translation of its text was wrong, correct would be:

Ihre Antwort als Leiter wird erbeten.

The set of presented options is also strange for the meeting's creator /
organizer.

clicking it is a no-op.

Actually there seems to be no way to save the deencrypted attachment using

Receive an exncrypted message structures as described above.

Actual Results:
An attachment is displayed as a link inside the message window, but the link
cannot be opened / downloaded. There does not seem to be any way to view or
save the attachment.

Expected Results:
The link / attachment should be downloadable / saveable.

[Bug 285301] New: Subject line in message list unescaped twice

2011-10-30 Thread Gunter Ohrner
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=285301

Summary: Subject line in message list unescaped twice
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: message list
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: kdeb...@customcdrom.de

Created an attachment (id=65035)
 -- (http://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=65035)
Double-decoding of subject string in message list. The string as shown in the
message window is actually correct, as the subject was encoded twice by
accident.

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS:Linux

The subject line display in the message list apparently gets unescaped /
decoded too often. I don't know if this could have negative effects if the
first decoding pass yields strings with special characters.
This seems to happen always.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
I have some mails with a messed-up subject line that somehow got encoded twice
in quoted-printable encoding:

Subject:
=?UTF-8?Q?=3D=3Fiso-8859-15=3FQ=3FTODO!=5F=28update=29=5FWRT-Verfugebar?=
=?UTF-8?Q?keitsberechnung=5Fbeginnt=5Fzu=5Ffr=3DFCh=3F=3D?=

Actual Results:
This string is (correctly) displayed as
=?iso-8859-15?Q?TODO!_(update)_WRT-Verfugebarkeitsberechnung_beginnt_zu_fr=FCh?=
in the message header as shown in the message window. The outermost encoding
has been decoded, showing the embedded string which also is encoded.
The message list, however, shows a completely decoded string only containing
the original clear text, as if the subject had been encoded only once. (See
screenshot.)

Expected Results:
The message list should show the subject the same way as the message window
does.

You're right - it did happen for me several times in the past, and once it
happens, it will happen for every DnD-operation.

However, I just tried to and I cannot reproduce it at the moment. This probably
means I have to do something before in order to get kmail into that state.

I was not aware of this and as of yet, I do not know what that is. I'll keep
monitoring my usage patterns and will update this bug once I have new
information.

[Bug 284681] Regression: kmail2 does not offer receipients from the address book which have more than one email address

2011-10-23 Thread Gunter Ohrner
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=284681

--- Comment #2 from Gunter Ohrner kdebugs CustomCDROM de 2011-10-23 20:43:43
---
If one enters a string into the to or cc fields in the mail composer, kmail
communicates with the KDE address book to suggest email addresses. It performs
a substring search on the stored mail adresses themselves as well as on the
names of the people stored in the address book, and maybe on other fields as
well.

After upgrading to KDEPIM 4.7.x and kmail2, kmail does not find any address
book entry that has more than one email address.

ie. if I enter gunter into the address field, my address book record is not
found, as it have 5 email adresses assigned. If a substring matches an address
book record that has only a single email address assigned, this address is
displayed.

I also had the impression that the substring search became case-sensitive in
KDEPIM 4.7.x, but I cannot check at the moment as email address lookup does not
work at all at the moment... It did yesterday, no idea what's wrong...

Finally kmail expands collapsed folders with subfolders again while hovering
above them with dragged messages, great!

Unfortunately, the folder will also expand after the mouse button has already
been released and the drop action menu shows. This is annoying as once I
release the mouse button I have already found the correct drop target, so kmail
does not need to present any additonal ones. The drop target folder always has
to be collapsed manually after DnD.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Drag messages to a collapsed folder with subfolders. Release the mouse button
just after reaching the target folder.

Actual Results:
The drop action popup menu (Copy, Move, Cancel) will appear and shortly
thereafter the target folder will expand, showing its subfolders.

Expected Results:
The target folder should not expand if the mouse button has already been
released and the drop action popup menu is displayed.

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.2)

While dragging messages to the folder tree, the UI indicates possible drop
targets between mail folders, which does not make any sense with messages.

Dropping a message between two folders even displays the drop action popup
menu, but selecting anything in it will cancel the operation.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Drag a message to the folder view, and drag it between two existing folders.

Actual Results:
The UI displays a line / bar between the folders, indicating a valid drop
target. Releasing the mouse button will open the drop action popup menu.
Selecting anything in it will silently cancel the invalid operation.

Expected Results:
The UI should not indicate drop targets for messages between folders. Messages
can only be dragged into a folder, not into the folder tree itself.
