According to `lspci` output, the model name is 'Alcor Micro Device 6625'. `udevadm monitor --env` gives no related events when inserting or pulling out the microsd card, in which only thermal_zone changes are recorded. No related events are recoded in /var/log/kern.log either. With sd card being inserted, `sudo fdisk -l` and `sudo blkid` gives no related information. The outputs are all about partitions on the local disk. No sdhc or mmc device is found in /dev/ either. The only implication now is the system notice the existence of the card reader, in terms of `lspci` outputs, the '01:00.0 Unassigned class [ff00]: Alcor Micro Device 6625', even when a sd card is inserted: ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 17.10 Package: linux-image-4.13.0-16-generic 4.13.0-16.19 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.13.0-16.19-generic 4.13.4 Uname: Linux 4.13.0-16-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.7-0ubuntu3.1 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p: limorg 1514 F

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1602888] Re: Dell Inspiron 7559 fans do not shut off once started, even when cool
After some more experimentation it is clear that I cannot reach C7 power states when plugged in (the lowest I reach is C3), even with tunables set to good. I tried the acpi_osi="!Windows 2015" boot parameter with no luck. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1602888 Title: Dell Inspiron 7559 fans do not shut off once started, even when cool Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Running Ubuntu 16.04 on a Dell Inspiron 7559 laptop there appears to be an issue with the fan control. When I first boot up the machine the fans are off. However, after the laptop warms up under normal usage, the fans kick on and then never shut off again. Even when the CPU cools down to below 35c, the fans will continue to run. If I suspend the the laptop, and then immediately wake it up again then fans are once again off, until it warms up again. So essentially, once the fans start they don't seem to ever shut off. Fans seem to work normally under Windows 10. They turn on as needed, and then turn off once the laptop cools down. I've tried the various BIOS updates that Dell has released, without success. I am currently running Dell's latest BIOS for this laptop (v1.1.8) Below is the output of lm-sensors showing the fans running when the CPU is at a cool 35c dell_smm-virtual-0 Adapter: Virtual device Processor Fan: 1925 RPM Processor Fan: 2143 RPM CPU:+35.0°C GPU: +1.0°C SODIMM: +49.0°C ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: linux-image-4.4.0-28-generic 4.4.0-28.47 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-28.47-generic 4.4.13 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-28-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.1 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: bob1709 F pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Wed Jul 13 19:18:45 2016 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=14de580b-76f3-47e4-9850-fe7637f9ff77 InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-07-13 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20160420.1) MachineType: Dell Inc. Should I purge it in order to receive the fix? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1709708 Title: [Intel Broxton HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] Pulseaudio detects output but produces no sound on an HDMI TV until power cycled. Status in DRI: Fix Released Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: Upon bootup, the HDMI output connected to a Samsung TV shows up as an output. If this output is selected and a sound test run (either using the GUI or using aplay /user/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav) no sound is heard. Pavumeter does however show sound coming through. I found that sound can be fixed by allowing the display to sleep, waking it up, and then restarting pulseaudio (pulseaudio -k). After that sound output through HDMI to the TV will work until rebooted. The fix can be succesfully scripted as follows: xset dpms force off sleep 1 pulseaudio -k The machine is an Intel NUC6CAYH, connected to a not particularly new Samsung 42" TV using an HDMI cable, running a fresh install of Ubuntu 16.04. In earlier attempts at fixing the issue I set pulseaudio to never let the sound device sleep (commented out load-module module-suspend-on- idle in /etc/pulse/default.pa), and also set the default sampling rate to 48000 (default-sample-rate = 48000 in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf). Not sure if these settings contributed to the fix, but they are not sufficient on their own. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1728417] Re: Xubuntu suspend fails - shuts down instead
None of the steps in Ch4 of the document describe my problem. The closest is "4.4 System reboots during suspend/resume", but that section's description is "Screen goes dark, and a fresh boot starts without users doing anything" does not describe what happens to me. What I observe is: 1. I choose to suspend (via Xfce menu, or rtcwake) 2. machine powers down. Suspend _appears_ successful (final line per syslog is "systemd-sleep[2160]: Suspending system..." 3. the machine does _not_ automatically reboot. It stays suspended until I power on (or rtcwake alarm). 3. when starting up again, the machine boots instead of resuming. I see the BIOS post screen, then kernel start-up output, then a login prompt. It is clear that the machine has not resumed, since all open processes have closed and syslog and dmesg show that the machine has booted. I have thus far done the following: 1. added 'initcall_debug ignore_loglevel pm_async' to my grub config (confirmed by subsequent syslog output). 2. tested suspend/resume using Xubuntu whisker menu and then later pressing power button to resume. The problem persists. See attached syslog-201711040722.txt for syslog output. Final suspend and then startup lines are: -- Nov 4 07:21:27 maude systemd-sleep[2160]: Selected interface 'p2p-dev-wlp37s0' Nov 4 07:21:27 maude systemd-sleep[2160]: 'SUSPEND' command timed out. Nov 4 07:21:27 maude systemd-sleep[2165]: /lib/systemd/system-sleep/wpasupplicant failed with error code 254. Nov 4 07:21:27 maude systemd-sleep[2160]: Suspending system... Nov 4 07:22:06 maude rsyslogd: [origin software="rsyslogd" swVersion="8.16.0" x-pid="926" x-info="http://www.rsyslog.com";] start Nov 4 07:22:06 maude rsyslogd: rsyslogd's groupid changed to 108 Nov 4 07:22:06 maude rsyslogd: rsyslogd's userid changed to 104 -- I see numerous syscalls returning with non-0 values but I cannot tell if any are pertinent. 3. I tested with rtcwake -m mem -s 20. - after 20s the machine powered up again, but booted instead of resuming. (ie. the problem persists). - there is no 'suspend' output to syslog prior to suspending. I have attached dmesg.20171104-0757.txt 4. I downloaded and tested with analyse_suspend.py, running ./analyze_suspend.py -rtcwake 20 -f -m mem. - after the 20s system boots instead of resuming (as above) - the script had created a directory suspend-171104-080126, but since it boots instead of resuming, none of the files are written to that directory - it is empty. - I have attached dmesg.20171104-0801.txt. I'm happy to try other steps or provide other info, but don't have cables to try console debugging. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1728417 Title: Xubuntu suspend fails - shuts down instead Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Suspending my machine (Xubuntu Whisker menu/Log out/Suspend) causes it to shut down instead (or at the very least, to restart when powering on again).
