[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1887190] Re: MSFT Touchpad not working on Lenovo Legion-5 15ARH05
@Coiby Xu (coiby) I build the next branch of linux-gpio (which contains the patch you mentioned in #251), and the trackpad works just fine without the hid polling on the kernel command line. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1904953] Re: USB2.0 HUB only works after an USB device is connected
Please test latest mainline kernel: https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.10-rc4/amd64/ ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1904953 Title: USB2.0 HUB only works after an USB device is connected Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: The USB hub identified as: "214b:7000 USB2.0 HUB" presents a problem on Linux where often it is only detected after another device (for example a mouse) is connected to it. On the computer's firmware screen and configuration, and on Windows, the hub works fine: once connected, it is detected and devices connected on it are detected. On Linux, most of the times nothing happens or only the hub is detected (not the devices connected to it). After one of the devices is disconnected and reconnected, or another USB device is connected in the hub, then the hub and all devices connected to it are detected at once. I reinstalled the system with a clean new 20.04.1 LTS (hard drive replacement for a SSD) and everything works fine now with 455 driver. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1904953] Re: USB2.0 HUB only works after an USB device is connected
Disabling the autosuspend from the USB device fixed the problem. However, I did not want to disable it for all USB devices, so I added an udev rule: ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="214b", ATTR{idProduct}=="7000", ATTR{product}=="USB2.0 HUB", TEST=="power/control", ATTR{power/control}:="on" On Windows, the USB power saving is enabled but this does not happen. Maybe Windows has a quirk configured for this device already? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1904953 Title: USB2.0 HUB only works after an USB device is connected Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The USB hub identified as: "214b:7000 USB2.0 HUB" presents a problem on Linux where often it is only detected after another device (for example a mouse) is connected to it. I believe this is a problem related to the Linux kernel because I never observed this behaviour on the computer's firmware or on Windows. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1899145] Re: Getting a repeating, white-noise like "tik tok" from speakers
TL;DR - This bug has been fixed. Detail... As of last Saturday (14th November 2020), this bug no longer happens with both Ubuntu 20.04.1 and 20.10. I also noticed that the sound was very much louder than expected from my system - reducing the volume fixed that OK. Tested sound by playing a music video in YouTube. There is the occasional crackle when booting or changing the volume but that is OK. Ubuntu 20.04.1 Both kernels 5.4.0-53 and 5.4.0-54 were fine. Ubuntu 20.10 Kernel 5.8.0-28, also fine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1899145 Title: Getting a repeating, white-noise like "tik tok" from speakers Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: This bug appears on 20.04 and 20.10 I believe it is a kernel bug. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1875252] Re: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS update causing no sound coming from built-in speakers
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1876065 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1876065 The patch did not resolve the issue for me, and the bug is still there. I just upgraded from 18.04 to 20.04 on a Dell Latitude E6230, and there was no sound output, with the sound settings showing only 'Dummy output'. I had to do a fresh reinstall of 18.04 which was extremely time- consuming. The same problem had occurred for me in the summer on a Dell Latitude E7270. I saw then that there were lots of reports of the problem, and it seems inexplicable to me that this has not been fixed. I guess I'll have to start looking for a different Linux distro. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1875252 Title: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS update causing no sound coming from built-in speakers Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: After updating to Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, the only way of hearing audio is through headphones. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1872333] Re: MSFT0001:01 touchpad randomly does not work after boot (Lenovo Yoga S740)
Sorry, I mixed secure boot to UEFI etc. After disabling secure boot, I have been using mainline kernel 5.9.6-050906-generic for a while now in Ubuntu 20.04 and the touchpad has always worked. Seems fixed there. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1872333 Title: MSFT0001:01 touchpad randomly does not work after boot (Lenovo Yoga S740) Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: About 50% of the Ubuntu 20.04 Ubuntu boots end up so that the touchpad of my Lenovo Yoga S740 does not work (cursor does not move). External mouse works even then. After one or two reboots the touchpad starts working, and it works until the next boot, when it may not work again. This seems very similar to this Lenovo Yoga S940 touchpad problem: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=252711 Attached (i2c_error.txt) is the output of "dmesg |grep i2c" on a boot when the touchpad did not work.
