[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1857760] Re: Raspberry Pi 4 loose Wifi connection when connecting external SSD

2024-04-29 Thread Lukasz
It's still happening, Raspberry Pi 4 ( Raspberry Pi RAS-4-4G - Model B / 4 GB
SDRAM (1822096))
and Ubuntu Core Servier 23.10

When I connect SSD drive to USB3 port (booted from SDCard), internal
WiFi doesn't work, and most of the time I can see error:

brcmfmac: brcmf_set_channel: set chanspec 0xd0.. fail, reason -52

(random data in place of 2 dots)
I don't think it's a power problem, I use official 3A power supply,
Also, I can use my additional USB Wifi adapter connected to other USB3 port -
it works, when internal not.

Bug description:
When I connect an external SSD (Samsung 850 EVO 500 Go in a UGREEN USB
3.1 case) on my Raspberry Pi 4 (4Go) the Wifi stop working. It is easy
to reproduce, either en USB3 or USB2 connectors.

The SSD is mounted, only the Wifi fails.

The problem does not occurs on a fresh Rasbian.

The problem does not occurs if I connect the SSD case on my keyboard
(a R.Pi keyboard including a USB hub). Only if I connect the SSD
  directly on the R.Pi.

When I disconnect the SSD case, the Wifi generally gets back, but
sometimes I had to set the wifi OFF then ON (through gnome gui
tooling). I don't have to reboot.

On RPI4, if you set up netplan to use wifi, and plug in a usb3 storage

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1970412] Re: [VROC] Ubuntu doesn't support 3rd SATA

2022-05-19 Thread Lukasz
Hi,
The patch adding 3rd SATA support in kernel made it to upstream:
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git/commit/drivers/ata/ahci.c?h=next-20220518=5716fb0d403e4edaca5de76b548081f0da1c5c6a

Is there a possibility to add it to Ubuntu 22.04.1?

Thanks,
Lukasz

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1857348] [NEW] amdgpu crashes badly

2019-12-23 Thread Lukasz Piatkowski
Public bug reported:

I'm running current ubuntu 19.10 with kernel "Ubuntu 5.3.0-24.26-generic
5.3.10" on a ThinkPad T495 laptop, which is confirmed to be certified
here: https://certification.ubuntu.com/hardware/201905-27049

Unfortunately, the experience is really bad: `amdgpu` driver in the
kernel crashes sometimes. I managed to get the `dmesg` output, please
see atachemnt. This is confirmed at least on linux-image-5.3.0-18 and
linux-image-5.3.0-24 "linux-image-X-generic

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1724639] Re: Bug in Kernel 4.13 : Intel Mobile Graphics 945 shows 80 % black screen

2017-10-27 Thread Lukasz Pozniak
I have the same exact issue on Acer Aspire One A110 (ZG5). In my case
this happened after upgrade from 17.04 to 17.10. The workarounds are
either pass nomodeset option to kernel at boot, or just choose the
previous kernel (4.10 in my case). The latter solution gives me correct
1024x600 resolution and is preferred until this problem is resolved.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1728022] Re: Framebuffer modeset causes display corruption

2017-10-27 Thread Lukasz Pozniak
https://askubuntu.com/questions/968742/upgrade-from-17-04-to-17-10-on-
samsung-nc-10-80-of-screen-
corrupted/969390?noredirect=1#comment1552759_969390

and here's exact workaround steps I've posted as a response to this:

When system is booting and grub shows up, press "e"

Find line with "ro quiet splash" and add nomodeset so it says "ro
nomodeset quiet splash".

Press CTRL-X to continue booting

Then there are two workarounds:

1) if you need the new kernel 4.13, you can add "nomodeset" to your
kernel options permanently, but this will limit screen resolution to
800x600:

$ sudo vi /etc/default/grub

Then add "nomodeset" as below:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="nomodeset quiet splash"

$ sudo update-grub

2) if you don't mind running older kernel 4.10 and want full 1024x600
resolution, try this solution Set "older" kernel as default grub entry
to set up kernel 4.10 as default (framebuffer works fine in this
version, in 1024x600 and without having to use nomodeset)

Title:
[Dell Latitude E6220] Crashes or exits with signal 9 when under heavy
  load

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  CID 201102-7188.

As part of certification testing, machines undergo a stress test to
see how they perform under heavy load.

This particular system started being unstable with Ubuntu 12.04. On
prior releases (I just retested with Oneiric and kernel 3.0.0) it's
rock-solid and is able to complete the 2-hour stress test.

On 12.04, I've seen three possible failure scenarios (and so far, no
  success completing the test run):

1- The test runs for 2 hours but upon finishing it exits with signal 9.
2- The test runs for less than 2 hours, exiting because some of the workers
got signal 9.
3- The system freezes before 2 hours have elapsed, requiring a reboot.

  How to reproduce:
  - Install Ubuntu 12.04
  - apt-get install stress
  - On a terminal, run:
stress --cpu 4 --vm 4 --timeout 7200

I'm not sure this bug belongs in the kernel, but I hope it's a good
  starting point.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1307744] Re: bcmwl-kernel-source 6.30.223.141+bdcom-0ubuntu2: bcmwl kernel module failed to build [error: too few arguments to function ‘cfg80211_ibss_joined’]

2015-03-07 Thread lukasz
Same issue reoccured here, on my dell-vostro 3560.

It's 07.03.2015!!! No network after fresh install!! Horrible!!

Solution from #11 worked well, but had to buy a network cable first!
