It is easy to reproduce, either en USB3 or USB2 connectors. The SSD is mounted, only the Wifi fails. The problem does not occurs on a fresh Rasbian. The problem does not occurs if I connect the SSD case on my keyboard (a R.Pi keyboard including a USB hub). Only if I connect the SSD directly on the R.Pi. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1724639] Re: Bug in Kernel 4.13 : Intel Mobile Graphics 945 shows 80 % black screen
I have the same exact issue on Acer Aspire One A110 (ZG5). In my case this happened after upgrade from 17.04 to 17.10. The workarounds are either pass nomodeset option to kernel at boot, or just choose the previous kernel (4.10 in my case). The latter solution gives me correct 1024x600 resolution and is preferred until this problem is resolved. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1724639 Title: Bug in Kernel 4.13 : Intel Mobile Graphics 945 shows 80 % black screen Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in openSUSE: Unknown Bug description: Installed O.S. on Samsung NC10. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1724639 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1724639 Indeed it's a duplicate ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1724639 Bug in Kernel 4.13 : Intel Mobile Graphics 945 shows 80 % black screen -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1728022 Title: Framebuffer modeset causes display corruption Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: After update from Ubuntu 17.04 to 17.10 on my Acer Aspire One netbook (model ZG5) I have a problem with framebuffer corrupting the notebook internal display after modeset. During system boot, when correct console screen resoltion is to be set, roughly 80% of the screen on the left side gets corrupted (looks like framebuffer is trying to put 1024px line in 800px, so it overflows onto the next line, causing the screen to be unreadable). This effect persists after gdm boots up, so only right 20% of the screen is visible and the rest is still garbled. I have so far found to workarounds for the issue: - add nomodeset kernel option in grub at boot time (or add it as GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT) - use 4.10 kernel from Ubuntu 17.04 that I still have installed There are reports on stackexchange of the same problem happening for other netbooks like Samsung NC10. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1728022] [NEW] Framebuffer modeset causes display corruption
Public bug reported: After update from Ubuntu 17.04 to 17.10 on my Acer Aspire One netbook (model ZG5) I have a problem with framebuffer corrupting the notebook internal display after modeset. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1728022] Re: Framebuffer modeset causes display corruption
https://askubuntu.com/questions/968742/upgrade-from-17-04-to-17-10-on- samsung-nc-10-80-of-screen- corrupted/969390?noredirect=1#comment1552759_969390 and here's exact workaround steps I've posted as a response to this: When system is booting and grub shows up, press "e" Find line with "ro quiet splash" and add nomodeset so it says "ro nomodeset quiet splash". Press CTRL-X to continue booting Then there are two workarounds: 1) if you need the new kernel 4.13, you can add "nomodeset" to your kernel options permanently, but this will limit screen resolution to 800x600: $ sudo vi /etc/default/grub Then add "nomodeset" as below: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="nomodeset quiet splash" $ sudo update-grub 2) if you don't mind running older kernel 4.10 and want full 1024x600 resolution, try this solution Set "older" kernel as default grub entry to set up kernel 4.10 as default (framebuffer works fine in this version, in 1024x600 and without having to use nomodeset) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1728022 Title: Framebuffer modeset causes display corruption Status in linux package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: After update from Ubuntu 17.04 to 17.10 on my Acer Aspire One netbook (model ZG5) I have a problem with framebuffer corrupting the notebook internal display after modeset. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1016195] Re: [Dell Latitude E6220] Crashes or exits with signal 9 when under heavy load
** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Precise) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Precise) Status: Confirmed => Fix Released ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Expired => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1016195 Title: [Dell Latitude E6220] Crashes or exits with signal 9 when under heavy load Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in linux source package in Precise: Fix Released Bug description: CID 201102-7188. As part of certification testing, machines undergo a stress test to see how they perform under heavy load. This particular system started being unstable with Ubuntu 12.04. On prior releases (I just retested with Oneiric and kernel 3.0.0) it's rock-solid and is able to complete the 2-hour stress test. On 12.04, I've seen three possible failure scenarios (and so far, no success completing the test run): 1- The test runs for 2 hours but upon finishing it exits with signal 9. 2- The test runs for less than 2 hours, exiting because some of the workers got signal 9. 3- The system freezes before 2 hours have elapsed, requiring a reboot. How to reproduce: - Install Ubuntu 12.04 - apt-get install stress - On a terminal, run: stress --cpu 4 --vm 4 --timeout 7200 I'm not sure this bug belongs in the kernel, but I hope it's a good starting point.
