[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1215977] Re: [Bochs Bochs] suspend/resume failure

2013-08-23 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.11 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot,
please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
Confirmed.

Thanks in advance.

Re: [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1215977] Re: [Bochs Bochs] suspend/resume failure

2013-08-23 Thread carlos palma
Hi Joseph.
On the host machine (raring, which is, I believe, the origin of the
problem) or on the VM (Saucy) ?
I will try first on the host and try to replicate the error. Then I'll
do the same for saucy.
Cheers,
Carlos

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1215977] Re: [Bochs Bochs] suspend/resume failure

2013-08-23 Thread carlos palma
That's right... the problem is in Raring (the host).
There is no problem in the Saucy VM. It enters suspend mode and wakes up with
both kernels (3.11.0-3 and upstreams 3.11.0-031100rc6 and daily-build) with no
problems.

However, when I try to suspend the host (raring, kernel 3.8.0-30) having the
VM-saucy up,
and try afterwards to wake up the host, is where everything freezes.
The crash report in Saucy is given on the next restart.

Unfortunatelly Raring, with the upstream kernel 3.11-rc6, crashes in my
laptop (DELL E6530). I'm looking for the reasons why.

Anyway. I know already that 3.10.4 works great. I'll check it and inform...
Thanks,
carlos
