Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem? Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.19 kernel[0]. We have this problem for a long, long time now. I supposed a hardware fault but changed motherboard, graphics card, memtest my ram, etc. I send this bug report because I think that is a kernel/software problem. This must take in caution but I believe that I had this problem since 14.04. By the way, I installed a clean 16.04 release some months ago. Maybe an important point is that some days before system crash, I start to see problems with window manager, maybe compiz related. Windows isn't refreshing accordingly. ok. We will test v4.19 and I will try to record the windows problem and attach here. With 4.19 the computer hangs completely in a short time. It's not related because in first place the bug only freezes video. I can enter via ssh and get logs.
