 But this shows to me, that the Debian squeeze version will not solve
the problem.have you tried the aktual ubuntu 9.10 already?

My notebook has ubuntu 9.10, I installed this new version of kicad on
it, and it runs well.

 I got also a suggestion about instaaling it from special backport
 repositorys.
 But there i did not find the expected material. Debian sqeeze uses
 only the 6.4.3 version of the *-dev package.
 So i got the suggestion, to build my own backports, but i am not so a

I'm really hoping this version will make it into squeeze ... Anyone know who is
doing the Debian
package? ( I can send Pizza if it would help )

(it is a really cool version date - pi day - which also happens to be my
anniversary.)

Right now I'm running 20090216-1

Re: [kicad-users] kicad kicad-2010-03-14-svn-R2456-final-UBUNTU_9.10.tgz

2010-03-24 Thread Bernd Wiebus
Hello Andy.

 The install txt makes no mention of GLIBCXX_3.4.11

Oh, yes

In an another forum ( http://www.debianforum.de (only german) i got the answer,
that libstdc++6 4.3.2-1.1 (of debian lenny) contains only up to GLIBCXX_3.4.10.
So i should test the libstdc++6 from the lenny-backports repository of squeeze
(at http://packages.debian.org/libstdc++6 , put it into the sources list)
But i doesn't work. But by reading this artikle again, i noticed, that i was
urged to install libgcc1_4.4 and gcc-4.4-base also, when i use this package
from testing/squeeze. And i forgot this.

So i will test this at the weekend again.

 Judging from the various net postings, GLIBCXX_3.4.11 is causing all
 kinds of trouble. Probablly because it is not generally available and
 users don't know exactly what package they need.

 a bit of guidance as to what is needed would be welcome.

Exactly this is the Problem.

I hope, i can solve the problem about the weekend. And i think, the way to get
this package would be similar in your suse, too.

Re: [kicad-users] kicad kicad-2010-03-14-svn-R2456-final-UBUNTU_9.10.tgz

2010-03-23 Thread Andy Eskelson
I reported this here a few days ago.

I tried to install the Ubuntu version on SUSE, and I got the same error.

The install.txt file mentions that you need libc.so6 as did the 2009
final. I have so.6 and 2009 worked fine.

The install txt makes no mention of GLIBCXX_3.4.11

If you check /usr/lib/libstd*

you will get something like this (ls -al)

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 2009-06-24 17:34  libstdc++.so.6 -
libstdc++.so.6.0.10

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 971048  2008-12-03 04:29 libstdc++.so.6.0.10

Where you can see that the link libstdc++ points to libstdc++.so.6.0.10
on my system.

In the suse repository it looks like libstd++43 is the main file for
so.6.0.10

There is a libstdc++44 available that contains so6.0.13
I have no idea if that is the required version.

Judging from the various net postings, GLIBCXX_3.4.11 is causing all
kinds of trouble. Probablly because it is not generally available and
