[Kmymoney-devel] [Bug 310260] New: Display sort sequences not maintained between executions of KMyMoney

2012-11-17 Thread David Houlden
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=310260

Bug ID: 310260
  Severity: normal
   Version: git master
  Priority: NOR
  Assignee: kmymoney-devel@kde.org
Summary: Display sort sequences not maintained between
executions of KMyMoney
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux
  Reporter: djhoul...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Compiled Sources
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Component: general
   Product: kmymoney4

There are a few places where the display sort sequence is not as I would like
it and although I can change the sequence it is not saved when I restart
KMyMoney.
1. Investments - Equities tab. Sorts by name descending. I would prefer
ascending.
2. Investments - Securities tab. Displays unsorted. I would prefer name
ascending.
3. Tools menu - Prices. Sorts by Commodity descending. I would prefer name or
commodity ascending.
4. Tools menu - Update Stock and Currency Prices. Sorts by symbol descending. I
would prefer symbol or name ascending.

Reproducible: Always

Expected Results:
Sort sequences should be changeable and saved between executions of KMyMoney

Re: [Kmymoney-devel] [kmymoney] kmymoney: Added the long awaited 'tags' feature

2012-11-17 Thread Alessandro Russo

Il 17/11/2012 13:33, Allan ha scritto:
I haven't yet seen a need for tags in my current use pattern, but,
having just updated from HEAD, I thought I'd have a look at their
workings.

If I select a downloaded transaction, I'm able to select a new tag,
but when I next click in the memo or another field, the tag disappears
and its drop-down no longer shows that tag to be able to re-assign it.
Click the red X icon more than once and the drop-down now shows the
tag as available again.

If I enter the tag, and accept the edit without accessing another
field, then the new tag shows in the transaction, but on opening the
transaction again, the tag does not show.

It may well be that I'm not understanding how to use tags, and if this
is the expected behaviour, then I apologize for the disturbance.

Allan

Hi Allan,
when you click i the memo field or in another field (or if you press Tab
key) the name of the tag disappears in the lineedit and appear a new
label on the right of the lineedit with the name of the tag and a button
with an 'X' on the right of the label. At this time if you save the
transaction it will have the tag.
If you click on the 'X' button the tag is deleted and you can re-select
it in the line-edit if you want.

This is the expected behavuour, I haven't any downloaded transactions so
I can't test this case.

Did you tried with a new transaction?

Ciao,
 Alessandro

Without any knowledge of the mac, loading doesn't appear to have reached
your KMM file, but there are a few mentions of

/opt/local/share/apps/kmymoney2/html/home_pt_BR.html

Can you check that that file actually exists, and can be opened in a browser?
Also, are you able to change your system config to use say English, to see if
that makes a difference.

I take it that you have been using KMM without trouble before?

You seem to have sent several messages, attached to existing threads, which
tends to cause confusion to all. Perhaps you can reply to this email, so you
have your own thread for your particular problem.

Can you give some more information? What messages, if any, were output when
the problem first occurred?

When you retry, does KMyMoney start, but not load your file? Give as much
information as you can. Are you able to run KMyMoney from a terminal - type
kmymoney -n. This should load KMyMoney without opening your file. Then, click
Settings, then Configure KMyMoney, then Home. When there, uncheck all the
check-boxes and then try to load your file, or any earlier version you have.

What happens? The more detail, the better.

Re: [Kmymoney-devel] Help- Can't Open KMyMoney

2012-11-17 Thread Jack

Monica,

How did you install KMyMoney, and do you know what version it is? How
are you trying to start KMM? Do you have any other KDE applications
installed? Do any of them work?

This looks like a configuration issue, and I guess it is related to the
Mac version of the KDE environment. I see a mention of the OFX
importer, but it's not clear if this is part of the problem, or just
loading the plugin. I suspect troubleshooting this will require help
from someone more familiar with the KDE environment on the Mac.

So neither method worked.

Well, I've now installed Mint13 KDE at 4.8.5 and all still works for me, so I
think it must be a distro thing.

Are you saying the program crashed while opening, or when reading your file?
Could you try opening KMM from a terminal/console. Type 'kmymoney -n', which
should open without your data file, then load that from the File menu.

This might give more information.

I'm pretty flexible. However, given the complexity of the underlying
task (or at least the complexity of explaining it clearly) I'd prefer to
do what we have done in the past, which is to start with a few passes of
plain text between us by email, to settle on an overall flow of the
section. After that, I suppose reviewboard would be a good way to let
others see it before one of us actually commits it to git. I'm also
happy for you to send me either a patch or a replacement file for me to
commit.

Jack

The point that I'm pondering at the moment is that the two different
versions are significantly different in appearance and operation.

Might it be an idea to leave the present one in place, and to have a
second version describing the newer plugin, marked with their KMM
version, particularly bearing in mind the time it takes for new
releases to emerge from the various distros?

Allan

Hi,

KMyMoney has two versions of docs on docs.kde.org (stable and
development). So I guess that users (apart from they have the docs
installed with their version of KMymMoney) can use the stable and
development versions of online docs should they need them. It is also
possible to make PDF version for the old version and host it somewhere.

Just my two cents.

Best regards,
Yuri

Yes, of course. If it doesn't get back-ported to 4.6, then those users
still on that will have the appropriate version. Similarly, once it's
added to HEAD and into stable, then those users also will get their
correct version.

I introduced a workaround in git master. Using a proper model/view concept
should solve the problem

Hi Thomas,

I haven't had time too look at this patch while it was in reviewboard.
Before checking out my mails I ran an update on my daily used kmymoney
(built from master + some patches I have for personal use) and saw that the
ledger was not working properly. After reading the mails I've made the
connection with this commit.

You can see in the attached screenshots that, with the tags feature, the
scheduled transactions are no longer rendered dimmed in the ledger, this is
very confusing since at first I though: "Hey, why can't I edit my regular
transactions?". Secondly the selected transaction's text is no longer
rendered with the selection color from the color theme (white in my case).

I can confirm this (mis-)behavior. Can you open a bug against git master? I am
sure, Alessandro comes up with the necessary fix on reviewboard.

The bug was introduced when I wrote the code for showing the tags in
different colors.

As a temporary fix you can comment out the following rows in
widgets/transaction.cpp:

331 QTextDocument document;
332 document.setHtml(txt);
333 painter->translate(option.rect.adjusted(2, 0, -2, 0).topLeft());
334 document.drawContents(painter);
335 painter->translate(-option.rect.adjusted(2, 0, -2, 0).topLeft());

and uncomment this row:

337 //style->drawItemText(painter, option.rect.adjusted(2, 0, -2, 0),
align, option.palette, true, txt, m_selected ? QPalette::HighlightedText
: QPalette::Text);

I'll fix it properly as soon as possible.

Re: [Kmymoney-devel] [kmymoney] kmymoney: Added the long awaited 'tags' feature

2012-11-17 Thread Allan
I haven't yet seen a need for tags in my current use pattern, but,
having just updated from HEAD, I thought I'd have a look at their workings.

If I select a downloaded transaction, I'm able to select a new tag, but
when I next click in the memo or another field, the tag disappears and
its drop-down no longer shows that tag to be able to re-assign it.
Click the red X icon more than once and the drop-down now shows the tag
as available again.

If I enter the tag, and accept the edit without accessing another field,
then the new tag shows in the transaction, but on opening the
transaction again, the tag does not show.

It may well be that I'm not understanding how to use tags, and if this
is the expected behaviour, then I apologize for the disturbance.
