Re: [Koha] koha notices PREDUE and PREDUEDGST

2012-01-23 Thread Fischer, Katrin
Hi Chris,

I am not sure if the item syntax is available in PREDUE and PREDUEDGST
notices, but I also spot a error in your pasted template. In order for it to
work you need a closing /item at the end.

itembiblio.title by biblio.author, items.itemcallnumber,
Barcode: items.barcode/item

Also make sure all item fields are on one line, with no line breaks.

Safest bet is using items.content. It's the older syntax and should work. I
know for sure it does in 3.2.x.

Hope that helps,

Katrin

Betreff: [Koha] koha notices PREDUE and PREDUEDGST

Hi,
Our circulation notices PREDUE Advance Notice of Item Due and PREDUEDGST
Advance Notice of Item Due (Digest) are not working properly. They email out to
the correct address and with the correct patron name but they do not complete
other variable fields.

Other notices work fine. In fact the PREDUE and PREDUEDGST have some of the
same code as our ODUE notice that works.

Does anyone have any suggestions why this might be the case?

Below is an example of the partially complete email received by a patron.

Dear Christopher MEECH

[Koha] backdating, merge patrons and telecirc

2012-01-23 Thread Lori Bowen Ayre
Hi All,

Is it true that there is no backdating feature in Koha? By this I mean,
the ability to check-in items (e.g. book drop stuff) with check-in dates of
the previous day (or even several days ago to handle long weekends).

Is it true there is no handy way to identify duplicate patrons and to merge
select patron records into one record?

What about telecirc...is anyone currently using a telephone-based
notification system (such as Asterisk) with Koha?

There is the dropbox feature to mark an item returned the day before,
(or days before if the library was closed).

Identifying is easy, but nope, no one has ever asked for a feature to
merge borrowers before.

No idea

[Koha] Patrons cannot place holds from OPAC

2012-01-23 Thread Jim Maroon
When a patron tries to place a hold from the OPAC, they receive a message
Sorry, none of these items can be placed on hold. When staff tries to
place a hold for the same, a message pops up CANNOT PLACE HOLD Too many
holds... We can then click through, but not in the OPAC. When you check
the holds for the patron, the record shows no holds. These are all items on
which folks should be able to place holds.

Is this one of those deals where we need to change our settings? If so,
where and how?

Thanks.

Re: [Koha] backdating, merge patrons and telecirc

2012-01-23 Thread Jim Maroon
We have the same issue with backdating. If you want to go back farther than
the last day open, then the bookdrop function doesn't do you much good. We
have a bookdrop that we only check once a week, for example. And our circ
manager tells me she would like the freedom to do other things with
backdating.

It would be nice to have a feature where you could actually select the date
for checkin.

ByWater Solutions is currently working on a telephony solution.

[Koha] integration of electronic content

2012-01-23 Thread Lori Bowen Ayre
Could anyone point me to a library catalog that does a great job
integration e-content into their catalog? I am assuming this will mostly
be e-books unless someone knows a library that has done a great job
integrating databases as well (and could direct me to those libraries-this
wouldn't be evident without an account but I'd still like to know if
someone has done a good job of it so I can talk to them).

Thanks, Liz. That was it exactly. We don't have the all/all default setup.

 http://manual.koha-community.org/3.6/en/patscirc.html#circfinerulesThe
basic gist: every library must have a default-default rule set up, go ahead
and add a new one if you're not sure.

There is also a system preference for maxreserves which should be
defaulted to 50, but you may want to make sure that it's not set to 0. It's
under Patrons in the system preferences.

Re: [Koha] Problem with new functionnality Hard Due Dates

2012-01-23 Thread Nicole Engard
I believe there is a development in the works to make it so that you
can edit rules in the Circulation and Fines matrix, but I can't seem
to find the bug link for you. Maybe someone else can provide the link
to the bug/enhancement that talks about making it so that you can edit
the circulation rules instead of recreating them.

 Hi all,

I would like to share our experience with 3.6 regarding this new
 functionality of Hard Due Date:
 http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=5548
Please let me know if I need to put this comment elsewhere..

I would like to see with you what kind of workaround I can use :-)

Basically, globalduedate and ceilingduedate has been removed and
automatically fill the circ. rule instead.
Look's great at first but, our libraries are all school type and we were
modifying  the ceilingdue at least 3 times each year.
We we putting the End of session as the max return date.
You also need to know that most of the libraries have a lot for circ. rule.
 ( From 50 to up to 200 ).

In the current state, we need to ask our librarians to manually update all
the rules each time they want to specify a new ceiling due date.
We can't only modify circ. rule so we need to redo them from scratch...
So you can now see that this new feature is a big regression for us.
Maybe not a regression, but error prone / time consuming problem.

Is there any way to batch update an entire set of circ. rule to a new Hard
 due date ?
Any other idea you can share to help us ?

 Thanks,
 Anthony
