[Koha] installing koha on hosted server?

2012-01-26 Thread lionalx
hey,

sorry if im out of line asking this here, but didnt find answers in
documentation pages.
im experienced home linux user, but dont have much knowledge about servers,
expect installing wordpress and drupals..
i got an impression that ur installation guidelines assume im running my own
server, but will i be able to install it on average paid linux hosting? do i
need to look for specific feature(s)?

thx,
alex

[Koha] processing of UNIMARC 100$a when importing bibliographic data

2012-01-26 Thread Fabio T.
Hi all! I'm new to the list, my name is Fabio and I'm a project worker at an
italian IT company for Cultural Heritage and at a library.

I'm going to accomplish a data migration from CDS/ISIS to UNIMARC. I have a
CDS/ISIS made .iso file with the bibliographic records converted to UNIMARC;
this is the input data sent to Koha. Within this file I have 100$a such as

20030730d1968km-y0itay0103ba

but, after the import from Koha backend interface, it becomes

20030730d1968km-y0frey50 ba

(as you can see, cataloguing language is changed from ita to fre,
character sets from 01 and 03 to 50, and the whole string is 35
characters long instead of 36).

Here are the specs for UNIMARC general processing data field, 100$a:
http://archive.ifla.org/VI/3/p1996-1/uni1.htm#100

How does Koha process this field? I assume ita is switched to fre
because of the french developing of UNIMARC framework, but I'd like to keep
ita as cataloguing language. And what about character sets and total
length?

Is there a way to inhibit this behaviour? Do I have to edit my bibliographic
records?

Thanks for all the past and upcoming help!
Fabio Tiana

Probably not average. You will need the ability (or the sysadmin to)
install and run perl modules and the zebra indexing server software,
and to configure cron (timed) jobs. That probably means some sort of
Virtual Private Server or at least very helpful server manager.

I did some work on this back in 2.0 and it was possible (but a bit
fiddly) then, but things have moved on a lot since.

Of course, there are lots of us in the support directory offering Koha
hosting...

Good luck!

[Koha] Deleted authorities

2012-01-26 Thread Stefano Bargioni
Hi,
I'm looking for a way to trace deleted authorities.
A table for biblio is deletedbiblioitems, but I found no deletedauth_header or
something similar for auth records.
I only need the auth_id.
Any idea?
Thanks. Stefano

Goodmorning

Can anyone direct me to instructions on how to batch delete biblio records.
I managed to batch delete the items attached to the records and now I need
to delete the records themselves, but I really don't want to do this one at
a time for over 1100 records. …Or have I misunderstood the process
entirely.

Best wishes

Re: [Koha] Biblio deletion

2012-01-26 Thread library
When I try to import the file into the Batch Item Delete tool I get the
following message.
I'm not sure I have understood the function of the tool as it seems to be
asking for a barcode not the biblio numbers that I am trying to load.
Software error:

Can't call method as_usmarc on an undefined value at
/koha/lib/C4/Items.pm line 589.

HI All

Work is under way for batch modification of Biblios,

deletion would then follow once that is all sorted.
