Hi David,

I'm so surprise that our library is included already.

Maybe somebody from the Nation Library of the Philippines included us, due
to we usually consult them if we are having difficulties in KOHA.

Anyway we are 3.12.01 Ubuntu not 2.2.9 Fedora

[Koha] ***UNCHECKED*** Re: Zebra server fails to start

2014-05-21 Thread casemall1...@yahoo.com
Based on what your preferences are, this can have a bearing on which style
you choose to go with. As an example, if you'd like to protect your phone
you may determine to go for a cover that will give you maximum damage
protection, or on the other hand if you need to enhance the appear of the
telephone you could choose a novelty design and style that no one else has.
Whatever you make a decision to go for, take into account your solutions
before acquiring your telephone cover. Right here are some of the telephone
cover creations explored in a bit a lot more detail.

[Koha] How to repair a table - Koha biblioitems

2014-05-21 Thread Phillip Ponchot
Whenever I run a backup or try a dump, I get a message that contact with mysql
has dropped at a particular record.
I've tried deleting the record, but the issue just switches to another record.

Apparently the table is corrupted. When I try to repair the table with
mysqlcheck I get the message that the storage engine does not support repair.

Does anyone know of a way to repair this table? I'm rather desperate as I
can't get a full backup with this issue.

Thanks for any help.

[Koha] Focus lost when using barcode scanner

2014-05-21 Thread Marty
I have been really puzzled about this one, and I do not know if this is a koha
issue, but maybe people have had the same problem.

When I scan a barcode for checking out or checking in I loose focus after
scanning the first item, I have to click on the box to get my focus back. The
focus seems to move to the search box.
Obviously this is really annoying if you have to scan more than one item.

This behaviour started after I upgraded to Wheezy. When I type in barcodes
manually there are no issues.
When I scan barcodes in gedit, the behaviour seems to be exactly the same as
when I type the barcode.

So, if I scan barcode 12345, it shows that barcode and the cursor ends up on
the next line, same as when I type the barcode and hit enter.

Hello Koha community! We were trying out the Acquisitions module of Koha ILS,

basket group for it with the same name as the Basket name, there is no
basket group created. I'm also trying to create a new Basket Group but to no
avail. Can anybody confirm this too? Are we missing something? I was able to

in fact UKRMARC is UNIMARC.
See here:

Koha support NORMARC, MARC21 and UNIMARC.
MARC is a sinonimous of MARC21.

In Koha there is a Ukraine support for UNIMARC and MARC21
in .../installer/data/mysql/uk-UA/marcflavour/

The person behind it is Serhij Dubyk, serhijdu...@gmail.com

In my humble opinion it is easier to use Koha with MARC21,
but if your cataloguers know only UKRMARC use UNIMARC.

In fact the best person to ask for an opinon about your situation
is Serhij Dubyk.

2014-05-21 Thread Tom Hanstra
To follow up on this a bit more, some of my problems were from strict
checking in MySQL (see separate post) but a lot of others fall into
these categories:

- Tables which already exist
- Columns which already exist
- Unable to write duplicate keys

Some of these might be OK to let ride. Others I'm not so sure about.
How can I best tell if the database after upgrade is missing anything?
Are there integrity checks which can be run or do we just have to
stumble on problems if/when we are missing functionality?

Thanks,

[Koha] MySQL - Strict checking

2014-05-21 Thread Tom Hanstra

Are there any recommendations regarding the use of strict checking and Koha?

I'm upgrading from 3.06 to 3.14 and as part of that I'm moving to MySQL
5.6, which turns strict checking on by default. A lot of database
upgrade errors are coming up related to data values which are in the
database but don't pass some of the rule checks implemented. Should I
be trying to clean that up? Or might future versions of the upgrade
process do some of that for me later?

Thanks,

Re: [Koha] notes or statistics of transactions in Circulation

2014-05-21 Thread Viktor.Sarge
I guess you could just issue the loan to the staffs account and use the
function ”Add a message” from the check out screen. But a note tied to a
specific checkout (instead of attaching a note to the MARC-record or item)
could be useful sometimes given that the message is displayed when the item is
returned. We created a way to display a message when certain itemtypes is
returned. Some of that code might give a hint on where to start if someone
would like to create the suggested function?
http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=10513 It’s not a huge
overlap though since most of the new code for this should go into the checkouts
table in circulation.pl I guess.

I don't know if any of the offline circulation methods have been

the date of the import.

I would think it would be more straightforward to add the data

[Koha] Report help needed

2014-05-21 Thread Elaine Bradtke
I'll admit, I'm the queen of cut and paste. What I don't know about SQL
would fill a book.

Using a report I already have on hand:
SELECT ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=245]/subfield[@code=a]'), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=260]/subfield[@code=a]'),ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=260]/subfield[@code=c]'), monthname(datecreated) AS
month, year(datecreated) AS year, biblionumber AS biblionumber
FROM biblio
LEFT JOIN biblioitems b USING (biblionumber)
WHERE datecreated BETWEEN Between (-mm-dd) AND and (-mm-dd)

I tried to add some fields as per a request from one of our staff who would
like a rather thorough list of items added to the catalogue within a time
frame.

SELECT ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=“100”]/subfield[@code=a]'), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=245]/subfield[@code=a]'), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=245]/subfield[@code=“b”]’), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=245]/subfield[@code=“c”]’), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=260]/subfield[@code=a]'), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=“773”]/subfield[@code=“t”]’), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=“773”]/subfield[@code=“g”]’), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=260]/subfield[@code=“b”]’), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=260]/subfield[@code=c]'), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=“300”]/subfield[@code=“a”]’), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=“020”]/subfield[@code=“a”]’), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=“022”]/subfield[@code=“a”]’), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
monthname(datecreated) AS month, year(datecreated) AS year, biblionumber AS
biblionumber
FROM biblio
LEFT JOIN biblioitems b USING (biblionumber)
WHERE datecreated BETWEEN Between (-mm-dd) AND and (-mm-dd)

The first report works. The second doesn't. I'm sure it's a syntax error,
or something like that, but I'm blundering around in the dark.

Her request was for the following info: 100 field = Author | 245 = Title
proper (including subtitles and statement of responsibility) | 773(?) =
Periodical title |260 = place, publisher, and date | 300 = Extent | 020 =
ISBN / 022 = ISSN

Re: [Koha] Importing Marc records from Koha 2.2.9 into 3.14.05

2014-05-21 Thread Elaine Bradtke
It might prove useful to look at the records in MarcEdit first -
http://marcedit.reeset.net/ to look at your download to check that it is
what you expect. It will also validate the MARC which could help you spot
a problem. I export and import files all the time into 3.14 and as long as
the MARC is valid it works. I don't know if saving it in notepad is
causing a problem, but MARC is not plain text. To use your .mrc file in
MarcEdit, you have to 'break' it into human readable text.
The tutorials are helpful - http://marcedit.reeset.net/tutorials

there is also data there. However, when I try to import it into version
 3.14.05 it isn't being recognised.

The steps I am following in version 3.14.05 are as follows:

 * Stage MARC records for Import

 * Select the file (koha.mrc)

 * Upload file
The screen then briefly flashes 0% loading and then disappears. In Staged
MARC management there is then no data.

 Any thoughts??

Greetings,

How can I let 'Don't have an account? Register here.' appear at OPAC main
page?

Did you set the OPAC system preferences related to self registration? Check
out Home - Koha administration - Global system preferences - OPAC and
then scroll down to the Self Registration. You are probably missing
PatronSelfRegistrationDefaultCategory set to a value found in Home - Koha
adminsitration - Patron categories.

Re: [Koha] Importing Marc records from Koha 2.2.9 into 3.14.05

2014-05-21 Thread Phillip Ponchot
There is documentation on how to export and import records from versions prior
to 3.2. Usually the data is dumped via mysqldump to a file, then a 3.2
conversion is run on it, and then it is imported into 3.14.

I am running Koha 3.0 and I have tried unsucessfully to export data from 3.0,
convert it to 3.2 and then import it into Koha 3.14 but it might be because of
some issue only with my database. I'm seeking a 12 step program to help with
this issue (smile).

I will search for the documentation and forward it to you (the whole process).

Subject: [Koha] Importing Marc records from Koha 2.2.9 into 3.14.05

 Hello!

I have been unsuccessfully trying to export records from Koha 2.2.9 by going
to Marc Biblio Export; selecting a call number range, clicking export and
saving the file in notepad (not sure what program to use). The resulting file
has a .mrc extension so I am presuming it is a Marc file, there is also data
there. However, when I try to import it into version 3.14.05 it isn't being
 recognised.

The steps I am following in version 3.14.05 are as follows:

 * Stage MARC records for Import

 * Select the file (koha.mrc)

 * Upload file
The screen then briefly flashes 0% loading and then disappears. In Staged
MARC management there is then no data.

 Any thoughts??
 Thanks
 Liz

This should solve #1 (and thus maybe #2?). I'm reading both as percentage
of the items in this collection that actually moved during a date range.
The major potential flaw in this report is that it counts the number of
items CURRENTLY in the collection, so if I recently purchased or weeded a
bunch of DVDs, the percentages from an older date range wouldn't really be
meaningful.

SELECT

Re: [Koha] On the choice of MARC-format

2014-05-21 Thread Anthony Mao
Good question!

Check your UKRMARC. Where is your title proper? 245(MARC21) or 200(UNIMARC).
Your MARC choice must keep harmony with Z39.50 copy cataloguing.

Taiwan libraries choose MARC21, because Taiwan's Z39.50 servers
provide MARC21 records only. However China libraries have to choose
UNIMARC, because their Z39.50 servers provide CNMARC(based on UNIMARC)
records.

[Koha] Koha Development Opportunity : Display of images in OPAC from multiple sources

2014-05-21 Thread Melissa Clarkson
Hello everyone,

My name is Melissa Clarkson and I am the Team Leader of the Library at the New
Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants. We have been on Koha for 2 ½ years.

We have started scanning book cover images that are not available from Amazon
to have them available in our OPAC and also our current awareness bulletin.
They display great in the bulletin, but in the OPAC it creates formatting
issues and looks plain ugly.

I have approached Catalyst IT in Wellington New Zealand about this issue, and
they have advised that it will take 28 hours. They will work through the bug
that is creating this issue. The outcome will be that we can use multiple
sources to get the book covers from, including local images uploaded in to
Koha. I can't justify paying for all of this given it is 28 hours, so I'm
coming to the community to see if you would be interested in contributing to a
joint development of this.

If you are interested, please respond by email by 4 June 2014, with how many
hours you'd be able to contribute to this development.

Thank you in advance

Anything would do: Videos recorded using a mobile phone, or even just audio.

I'm giving a few talks in the next couple of months about the

 be able to put
together some composite images that show libraries (big and small, around

I forgot that the library pulldown for libraries can be hidden through global
system preference OpacAddMastheadLibraryPulldown. However, the project I'm
working with would like to add a dropdown for item types, will that be
possible? Thanks in advance and cheers!

[Koha] Strange email

2014-05-21 Thread Chrispin Simasiku Sitali
I have just received some strange or rather inappropriate message from
Carrie (meetcar...@hotmail.com) soliciting for my friendship . Should
this be appearing on the mailing list? What should I do on my part to stop
this rot or shouldn't people overseeing the mailing list do something?

How did this Carrie get on the mailing list in the first place?

Thank you

Re: [Koha] On basic differences of MARC, MARC21 and UNIMARC

2014-05-21 Thread Viktor.Sarge
Hi!

If this rather old source (points to the old Koha website) is to be trusted
then UKRMARC seems to be based on UNIMARC.
http://library.lviv.ua/e-library/library_standarts/UkrMarc/index_eng.shtml I’d
not be surprised though if there are some fields or ways of using a field that
only exist in UKRMARC. You might have to remap some of the info to new fields
in order to successfully import your records in Koha. Other people here knows
the most efficient way to do that if that proves to be the case.

Which of the indicated formats must be chosen for preferences ?

What criteria need to be followed for the choice of marc-format ?

Re: [Koha] koha item types dropdown instead of library dropdown

2014-05-21 Thread Viktor.Sarge
It would be quite possible. The following code that Fridolin Somers posted on
march 19 could serve as an inspiration.

$(document).ready(function() {
 $(select#masthead_search).append(option value=\yr\Publication
year/option);
})

What it does is that you paste it into the system preference ”opacuserjs” and
it adds a field ”Publication year” to the drop down menu. Koha doesn’t care
that this field was custom made as long as it adheres to standard querys that
could just as well have come from advanced search. What you need to do is to
compile a list of all the codes for the item types you have (look in admin or
get it from the html of advanced search that has the item types). Then create a
little jquery snippet that inserts a drop down with these options at the
appropriate place. You could probably have someone help you with that last part
as long as you have a list of the values that should go into the drop down.

Kind regards/Viktor

I have uploaded a number of patron records via a pup script. However, the
password are not working. I have used md5 function. I would like to know
which encryption method is used for passwords in Koha.

Hi, it's using the Perl module Crypt::Eksblowfish::Bcrypt and it's being salted.

I used the following recently when resetting a password in the database:

perl -e 'use lib /usr/share/koha/lib/; use Koha::AuthUtils; print
Koha::AuthUtils::hash_password(password_here) . \n;'

Hope that helps.

Re: [Koha] Focus lost when using barcode scanner

For check-in, are you using page : /circ/returns.pl ?

You may clear your browser cache.

Best regards,

Re: [Koha] Report help needed

2014-05-21 Thread Steven Nickerson
Hi Elaine,
I'm really not positive this is the issue, but I would double-check to make
sure that all of your single and double quotes are standard ASCII quote marks.
It looks like several of them are special characters, perhaps automatically
converted somewhere along the way in your copy/paste (thank you smart
programs like MS Word). Again, just a guess, and maybe those characters were
correct when you executed the MySQL in the report and only got converted when
entered into your email application. They just look suspect to me.

Subject: [Koha] Report help needed

I'll admit, I'm the queen of cut and paste. What I don't know about SQL would
fill a book.

Using a report I already have on hand:
SELECT ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=245]/subfield[@code=a]'), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=260]/subfield[@code=a]'),ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=260]/subfield[@code=c]'), monthname(datecreated) AS
month, year(datecreated) AS year, biblionumber AS biblionumber FROM biblio LEFT
JOIN biblioitems b USING (biblionumber) WHERE datecreated BETWEEN Between
(-mm-dd) AND and (-mm-dd)

I tried to add some fields as per a request from one of our staff who would
like a rather thorough list of items added to the catalogue within a time frame.

SELECT ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=“100”]/subfield[@code=a]'), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=245]/subfield[@code=a]'), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=245]/subfield[@code=“b”]’), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=245]/subfield[@code=“c”]’), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=260]/subfield[@code=a]'), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=“773”]/subfield[@code=“t”]’), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=“773”]/subfield[@code=“g”]’), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=260]/subfield[@code=“b”]’), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=260]/subfield[@code=c]'), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=“300”]/subfield[@code=“a”]’), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=“020”]/subfield[@code=“a”]’), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=“022”]/subfield[@code=“a”]’), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
monthname(datecreated) AS month, year(datecreated) AS year, biblionumber AS
biblionumber FROM biblio LEFT JOIN biblioitems b USING (biblionumber) WHERE
datecreated BETWEEN Between (-mm-dd) AND and (-mm-dd)

The first report works. The second doesn't. I'm sure it's a syntax error, or
something like that, but I'm blundering around in the dark.

Her request was for the following info: 100 field = Author | 245 = Title proper
(including subtitles and statement of responsibility) | 773(?) = Periodical
title |260 = place, publisher, and date | 300 = Extent | 020 = ISBN / 022 = ISSN

It would be quite possible. The following code that Fridolin Somers posted on
march 19 could serve as an inspiration.

$(document).ready(function() {
 $(select#masthead_search).append(option value=\yr\Publication
year/option);
})

Re: [Koha] Report help needed

2014-05-21 Thread Daniel Sanford
It looks like the issue is
'//datafield[@tag=“022”]/
subfield[@code=“a”]’), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
monthname(datecreated) AS month, year(datecreated) AS year, biblionumber AS

The last
ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
doesn't have a closing ) and you've stopped extracting XML so that is
causing one error use

//datafield[@tag=“022”]/
subfield[@code=“a”]’),
monthname(datecreated) AS month, year(datecreated) AS year, biblionumber AS

You've also got a mix of ’ and ' which are slightly different and causing
MySQL to misread the sections.

Likewise on the line
'//datafield[@tag=245]/subfield[@code=a]'), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
'//datafield[@tag=245]/subfield[@code=“b”]’), ExtractValue(b.marcxml,
you'll note the a and b subfield codes have different quotation marks, the
one around a are right and the ones around b are not, a lot of the tags and
codes are using those and MySQL often errors out due to the that. The first
query you sent has all of those properly formatted.

Here's a cleaned up copy

 SELECT
ExtractValue(b.marcxml, '//datafield[@tag=100]/subfield[@code=a]'),
ExtractValue(b.marcxml, '//datafield[@tag=245]/subfield[@code=a]'),
ExtractValue(b.marcxml, '//datafield[@tag=245]/subfield[@code=b]'),
ExtractValue(b.marcxml, '//datafield[@tag=245]/subfield[@code=c]'),

I'm giving a few talks in the next couple of months about the
schema.orgRDFa integration that Koha offers, and I was hoping I might
 be able to put

Hi, Dan--

There's a photo of our library here,
http://www.nps.gov/safr/historyculture/library-collections.htm

And any photo you see on our site with the credit NPS photo, or any
images of our collection without any other attribution, are in the public
domain. Likewise, photos on our blog,
http://fullfathomcollections.blogspot.com/ that don't have any specific
attribution, or say NPS photo, are in the public domain.

My brief talk at code4lib 2014 from earlier this year was recorded; the

I don't think the talks at ESWC 2014 will be officially recorded, but I'll
see if I can at least grab the audio this time. I always mean to do that,
then usually completely forget when it comes time to actually give the talk

Will it be possible for you to record your talks about linked data /

Anything would do: Videos recorded using a mobile phone, or even just
  audio.

I'm giving a few talks in the next couple of months about the
schema.orgRDFa integration that Koha offers, and I was hoping I might
  be able to put
together some composite images that show libraries (big and small,
 around
the world) that are now more connected to the web of linked data as a
  result of that effort.

The mail was not sent to the list Chrispin but just to you personally I am
guessing. There is nothing we can do to stop people replying to emails I'm
afraid.

How did this Carrie get on the mailing list in the first place?

She isn't, not as far as I can tell, she probably replied via nabble or gmane.

Dear All

I am using Ubuntu based koha version 3.14.05 and have configured it on

Redirect loop. Can any one please tell us its solution? After deleting
cookies at client system its start working but its not a suitable solution
because it is not possible to everyone to dell cookies from his system's
browser for using the site. Is it possible to configure its cookies at
server machine. So no any user has to face this redirect loop error.
