[Koha] Importing Marc files
Hi I am looking at some tutorials on how to export current data from a library database we have and then use markedit to convert into a format for Koha. I am following this guide: http://manual.koha-community.org/3.2/en/marceditexcel.html I initially export the data as a csv and then open with excel and same as a tab separated .txt file. I do marcedit delimited text transfer. Then marcmaker. then I try to upload and get the output. MARC staging results : 0 records in file 0 records not staged because of MARC error 0 records staged Did not check for matches with existing records in catalog 0 item records found and staged I ran marc validator and got results like this: Record #: 1 001 (if defined): 245 (if defined): Errors: One 245 field must be present in a MARC21 record. Record #: 2 001 (if defined): 245 (if defined): Errors: One 245 field must be present in a MARC21 record. I was wondering if there is a template I can use to match my fields? Re: [Koha] Put Barcodes in Books Without Barcodes Automatically
Control number: http://www.loc.gov/marc/bibliographic/bd001.html It's an internally created (by the cataloguing agency) number for the catalogue record. It is not really related to your barcode problem. I just knew that MarcEdit has a generate control number feature. This means it's capable of assigning sequential numbers - and some sort of automatically generated sequential number is probably what you want for your barcodes. [Koha] Unexpected behaviour in 942 $h (3.14)
We're running 3.14.06.000 When editing a catalogue record, we manually type in the contents of the 942$h (call number). This is usually the last thing that is added before saving the record, otherwise we might not have seen what happens next. Just after you hit save and before you are presented with the item record screen a space and numeral 1 appear after the call number. Here it is in a record - the call number should be only AP as it is in the 099 field. =LDR 00885nam a22002417a 4500 =001 201409241538.nw =003 UkLoVW =005 20140924154908.0 =008 140924s1760enkag\001\0\eng\d =040 \\$aUkLoVW$beng$cUkLoVW =099 \\$aAP =245 \\$aThe universal magazine of knowledge and pleasure, vol. We have $6 set to ignore in the framework. To add to the strangeness, the 1 sometimes appears only as you are saving, but does not remain in the MARC after you have saved the record. But sometimes it does. Just as an experiment, I duplicated the above record. The 1 appeared during the save process, but did not appear in the saved duplicated record. What's more, when I try to replicate the problem by creating a new record (either with a Z39.50 download or original cataloguing) it doesn't happen. The cataloguer tells me that it doesn't always happen when he creates records either and that if he's persistent enough he can eventually delete the extra space and 1. I asked him to keep track of the records that have this problem, perhaps with more than one example, we can see a pattern. Has anyone else experienced this? Does it have anything to do with ignoring subfield 6? Because I can't replicate this problem I haven't been able to test it in 3.16 which we're running on our test site. [Koha] Export Athena / import Koha
FYI: I am a total novice at Koha. I had an acquaintance set up a Ubuntu server with Koha on it. The server is running just fine and can only be accessed in-house. We are using it for a small library at a private school. It is replacing the outdated Athena. I created a superuser and have logged in and am starting to set things up... I followed the directions on this wiki in order to export the MARC records from Athena in order to import it into Koha. http://library.bridgton.lib.me.us/BPL_mediawiki/index.php/Exporting_Athena_Holdings_Data_and_Importing_it_into_Koha I was able to accomplish all of the steps without any errors or issues... I then went into Manage staged MARC records from the Tools menu and imported the MARC records into the catalog. I am able to search for each item by title or author, etc. The problem that I am having is that it didn't seem to transfer the Barcode information. All of our books are already labeled so it is advantageous for us to keep the old Barcode system since there are roughly 9000 items. Any help would be much appreciated. Re: [Koha] Export Athena / import Koha
Hi, Your MARC file has the barcode field as Chris said, see: https://www.dropbox.com/s/17hfzvv5obvjmvl/test.mrk?dl=0 I was able to import the above record in my Koha, see this: *https://www.dropbox.com/s/t76q81nt4ct555p/black_beauty.png?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/t76q81nt4ct555p/black_beauty.png?dl=0* I just changed the barcode (to make it unique for my installation), permanent location, current location and koha item type to my intallation's requirements and it works. That means that perhaps you need to double check your 952a, 952b, 952y match with what you have set in your Basic Parameters settings of your installation. [Koha] Koha community adopts code of conduct
In order to help provide a safe and welcoming environment for all attendees at Koha events, the Koha community has approved [1] a code of conduct and anti-harassment policy [2]. All delegates, attendees, and organizers at Koha events, including the upcoming KohaCon14 in Argentina, are expected to abide by this policy. The organizers of KohaCon14 have taken steps to effectively implement this policy, and specific details of how to seek assistance and report incidents while on site will be forthcoming. The full text of the policy is available on the Koha community website. Please read the policy and disseminate it widely. Although the policy is currently focused on behavior at conference, all participants in communications forums used by the Koha project, including the mailing lists and IRC channel, should abide by it. The code of conduct is expected to be revised as circumstances and our experiences suggest ways of improving it. Suggestions for changes can be made via the general mailing list or by contacting any member of the release team.
