[Koha] Help 404 File Not Found / Files Missing

2015-03-18 Thread Greg Ashe
Hi there

All of a sudden we are getting 404 Not Found error when we try to access
Koha catalog or log in as librarian?

I have rebooted the server. The Apache webserver is running. However the
only file in the /var/www directory is index.html with the content It
Works - the web server software is runnning but no content has been added
yet.

The virtual webservers point to /usr/share/koha/opac/htdocs and
/usr/share/koha/intranet/htdocs

BUT when I examine via File Manager there is no koha directory in
/usr/share??

No changes have been made apart from applying Ubuntu updates via Webmin as
these are released.

Has anyone experienced this behaviour before? And how do I get up and
running again?

[Koha] Koha implementation at libraries affiliated to Kerala State Library Council

2015-03-18 Thread Vimal Kumar V.
Koha implementation at libraries affiliated to Kerala State Library Council

The Kerala State Library Council (KSLC)
https://www.facebook.com/keralastatelibrarycouncil is an autonomous body
under the Higher Education Department of Govt. of Kerala. It is the
statutory apex body of public libraries in the state. KSLC is the successor
of ‘Kerala Grandhasala Sanghom’ formed by the amalgamation of libraries
which were functioning in the erstwhile Travancore, Cochin and Malabar
regions in Kerala. KSLC is constituted through a democratic process giving
representation to all public libraries in the state and functions as the
core of the cultural life of Kerala. The total number of libraries
affiliated to the KSLC so far is around 7500.
Now, the KSLC is embarking on a programme of computerizing the affiliated
public libraries. An expert committee was constituted by KSLC for this
purpose. This automation programme is planned to be rolled out in two
phases. In the first phase the Koha Open Source Software will be customized
in Malayalam and deployed in selected affiliated libraries on the basis of
e-readiness. In the second phase there will be a statewide rollout,
covering all the affiliated libraries.
The vendor for software customization, implementation and training was
selected though a two-part national bid process. M/s. Orisys India
Consultancy Services (http://orisys.in/
http://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Forisys.in%2Fh=9AQEA1GI4enc=AZN-KUAzEO_KEoA9QX_FrBv7YTo9lDWEyrGueS60LfuNdm06DpbohBFcZ1jwbdB8bu1hJvCp54WwvxwmoNmRns6JpU8Zwvt_qajJptsOprynKG6YFldIidB4Shwz50cor8V-HIGxPfNLQe18hAm0ybz_s=1)
based in Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram came out as the successful bidder.
Koha will be customized, installed and maintained in the State Data Centre,
and libraries will be able access it through Internet and carry out their
day to day activities. This will also ensure that the librarians are free
from the burden of server / software maintenance, updation, backup and so
on. In the event of Intenet failure, the offline transaction tool will be
used to capture the transaction data and will be subsequently transferred
to the database once the connection gets restored. Several new features are
being provided including interface in Malayalam, option to collect annual
(periodical) membership fee subscription etc. After implementation, they
will be provided to the Koha Community for the benefit of all Koha users.
The training programme for the librarians of the selected libraries was
held during 28-Feb to 01-Mar at Thiruvananthapuram. The participants were
given intensive hand-on training in using Koha. Shri. Thomson A. J.,
Librarian, Devagiri College, Kozhikode, and Shri Prasanth MP, Librarian,
Chinmaya Institute of Technology, Kannur were the Resource Persons.
The inauguration of the automation programme will be held on 20th March
2015. Renowned poet and activist Smt. Sugathakumari will officially launch
the programme at a function to be held at Conference Hall, Govt. Guest
House, Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram at 10.00a.m.
The customized web-page of KSLC with catalogue is accessible here
http://kslc.in/

To visit the web-page of various libraries please go to the menu
‘Libraries’ and filter using District and then by Taluk.
Feedback and comments are always welcome to improve the service. Kindly
email to kerala...@gmail.com

2015-03-18 Thread Craig Butosi
Hi all,

Koha 3.18.04 on Ubuntu 3.13.0.

I had a feeling I'd be seeing this on listserv soon enough! It happened to me
last week too.

In my situation, there was an Apache update amidst all the other updates that
Ubuntu compiled the other day. Turns out when the Apache update was applied, it
either reverted or changed the library.conf file in
/etc/apache2/sites-available/ directory to just library. I changed this file
back to read library.conf, and everything worked fine again.

Now, I am nearly certain that this was the problem; I was scrambling to get my
instance back up and running, and in the fray, it may very well have been
something else I did. All I know is that I made this change and voila.

Can anyone confirm a similar experience?

[Koha] Intermittent issue: printing holds queue does not print all pages

2015-03-18 Thread Barton Chittenden
One of our partners has reported that when their holds queue spans more
than one page of results, printing the queue may only print the first page.

I.e. when the partner has a branch set, then navigates to

home circulation holds queue

and the holds queue spans several printed pages, only the first page will
print.

The partner has verified that there are no records with diacritics which
might cause partial printing.

I'm trying to collect more data for trouble-shooting purposes. Has anyone
else run into this issue?

Thanks,

I remember having similar problems specifically with printing from Firefox.
Have you checked with them about whether the problem is consistent across

 Hi Paul,

the status 'ordered' is set by the acquisition module and can not be
chosen manually from the status pull down.

The steps are: accept the suggestions you want to order, create a basket
and use the option to create orders from suggestions for creating your
 order lines.

 Hope this helps,

[Koha] Calling for volunteers to join the sub-committee for the Koha Fund!

2015-03-18 Thread Brendan Gallagher
Please excuse the cross-posting... (Please share this with others beyond
these two lists - Thank you kindly)

Calling for volunteers to join the sub-committee for the Koha Fund!

What I propose is that those that volunteer for the sub-committee would
volunteer for a 1 year term.

*Immediate responsibilities* would include creating the by-laws that the
sub-committee would act by. This would include taking the lead on creating
a document (in an open forum) that would be presented to the Koha community
for a vote of acceptance, at least one week before the next general meeting
(7 days). Allowing for time for comments on the document and others to
read the document, so that the document could be adjusted and corrected in
time for a vote at the general meeting.
**One note here is that if there is a bylaw that would potentially exclude
one of the original volunteering sub-committee members (who knows right),
that they would willingly step-down once the by-laws are completed (OR is
that really a worry and we just really need to make sure we have enough
volunteers to get a committee?)**

Once the by-laws have been accepted by a majority vote in a general
meeting, then the original volunteer members, would serve the rest of the
year as part of the sub-committee for the Koha-fund. The main purpose of
the sub-committee is to creatively raise money for Koha to be spent on Koha
(most likely to begin money would be spent on sign-offs, QA-time, bugzilla
maintenance cleaning, for example right now we have 26 critical bugs with
no patch (so do those really need a patch or does bugzilla really need to
be cleaned up?) ). So those that are interested in joining this to help
make the bylaws so this is a successful venture and then being an active
advocate for the Fund - please join up. You do not need to be a developer
or anything close to that.

I propose that we leave the volunteering open until 1 week before the next
general meeting which is 8 April 2015 at 19:00 UTC. That should give
people enough time to add their names here --
http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Fundraising ... Look at the Fundraising
Committee section for a place. Then at the general meeting April 8th we
can vote on the names present and then move forward.

So Dates...

Starting now, until April 1st --- people place their names on the wiki list
for being a potential volunteer for the sub-committee (I would also be
willing to keep this open until April 7th if others agree to that)

April 1st to April 8th -- Community has a chance to review the names on
their own time and be prepared for voting at the general meeting.

April 8th - Sub-committee volunteers are confirmed...

Please don't hesitate to ask any question at all, the more we have before
we vote on April 8th the better and more prepared everyone will be! (no
surprises)

Cheers and Thank much,
Brendan Gallagher (bag)
