[Koha] Koha ILS Driver for Vufind

2015-03-05 Thread Olugbenga Adara
Hello all,

I am hoping someone who has gotten Vufind and Koha working together can
help me with this. I recently installed Vufind 2.3.1 and Koha 3.18.3 on
Debian 7. I have configured Vufind and successfully imported the records
from Koha into Vufind.

However, I can't get Vufind to use Koha to authenticate patrons. I can see
the status of Koha items update in Vufind searches, so I know Vufind can
connect to the Koha database.

The problem seems to be the password encryption used in the Koha ILS driver
and the encryption used for passwords in the current Koha version. The
Vufind Koha driver still uses MD5 while I have been informed that current
Koha uses BCRYPT.

Can anyone provide me with the Koha driver for Vufind or point me towards
how I can update the driver to successfully authenticate with current Koha
version?

Thanks for your help.

if I find a marching record for a particular book then I import it in my
collection. When I finish cataloguing I then delete the collection because
I may not need it any more Please how do I go about it.

I believe what you need to do is to get the MARC records staged for import
but not actually complete the import. Then when you make a search in the
cataloging module, you should get a hit from the reservoir which would have
the records you staged for import.

Go to Tools Stage MARC records for import then import the file,
don't follow through with the last step of importing into the catalog.

Once done with the cataloging, go to Tools Staged MARC management and
you should be able to clean the records from the reservoir.

Hope this helps.

Koha is free and open source software. Free to download, free to install, free
to modify, and use on as many systems as you want without any licence fees.
(http://koha-community.org/) If you have the technical and human resources
available to you in house, you do not need to pay to install Koha.

A number of companies do provide commercial support though, offering you
customization, support, training, installation etc. You can find a list at
http://koha-community.org/support/paid-support/. It will be hard for anyone to
give you a price off the bat without knowing your exact support requirements.

Hi,

The
Koha community is pleased to announce the release of version
3.16.0 of the Koha library automation system.

Koha 3.16 is an enhancement and bugfix release. Changes of particular
note include:

* There is now the ability to use different templates for notices
based on how the notice is to be sent. For example, is now possible to
use different wording for email and SMS hold notifications.
* Users can now unselect active facets when refining search results.
* Search history can be now displayed and managed in the staff interface.
* Loan checkins can now be backdated to an arbitrary date.
* Holds can now be individually suspended and resumed from the OPAC.
* Creating orders from staged files now offers much more flexibility.
* The public reports service can now accept report parameters.
* There is experimental support for Plack for development use.
* The index update script can now operate as a daemon,
 allowing the
indexes to be updated within seconds of a catalog record getting
updated.

There are many more enhancements, detailed in the release notes.

There are also a number of improvements under the hood, particularly
for internationalization. It is now possible to mark strings in the
Perl source code for translation, and translation of strings in the
JavaScript source code can now include placeholders. Also, a newer
version of jQueryUI is now used by the staff interface.

Koha can be downloaded from http://download.koha-community.org. Debian
packages of Koha 3.16.0 will be available shortly.

Additional details, including the release notes, can be found at

I should think that is possible since cd isis has same roots as Winisis.

Take a look at

Hi Ben,

it looks like, there's nobody with experiences with migrating from AccesIt
to Koha. So, in general, the main question is: Are you able, to export data
in MARC format? Which version of MARC do you use in your library?

 Regards,

In addition to exporting out in MARC as Josef suggested, you may also be able
to get by with a csv export. Though you will need to do more work to get it
into MARC for import into Koha.

But csv will serve you just ok for your patron's data.

But while I insert or import patrons from a .csv file;
**when I assign value for The patron attribute field in the .Csv (like

so, how to make koha prevent the entrance of null value for a unique patron

2013-09-24 Thread Olugbenga Adara
Hello Paul,

 From: Paul Poulain paul.poul...@biblibre.com

Last year (or was it in 2011 ?) there was some misunderstandings about
the poll: the location that was placed 1 got 5 points, 2nd=4 points,
3rd=3 points,...
BUT: if one just choose one location, it got 5 points, and all others 0
points.
The idea being:
* case 1 I prefer X, but don't mind going to Y
* case 2 I want to go to X, will never to to Y

To avoid a misunderstanding this year, could we explain now how will the
poll work ?

Good one Paul. The misunderstanding was last year. I have voted and first tried
only ranking one option and not picking the other. I got thrown an error that I
have not completed the survey. So I guess you have to rank both.

I, however, also wait for Mirko to clarify this.

Cheers.

Hello Olugbenga,

You have to switch on the EnhancedMessagingPreferences for theses
messages to be sent.

If you want to enable options for all patrons, you must do that in the
cli of your dbms.

For example, for Item checkout and Item check-in:

insert into borrower_message_preferences(borrowernumber,message_attribute_id)
select borrowernumber, 5 from borrowers;
insert ignore into
borrower_message_transport_preferences(borrower_message_preference_id,
message_transport_type) select borrower_message_preference_id, 'email'
from borrower_message_preferences where message_attribute_id = 5;

insert into borrower_message_preferences(borrowernumber,message_attribute_id)
select borrowernumber, 6 from borrowers;
insert ignore into
borrower_message_transport_preferences(borrower_message_preference_id,
message_transport_type) select borrower_message_preference_id, 'email'
from borrower_message_preferences where message_attribute_id = 6;

The 5 and 6 values correspond to the message_attribute_id in the
message_attributes table (select * from message_attributes;)

Jonathan

 Hello all,

Is it possible to have all Koha patrons get messages like checkin, checkout

necessary but Koha was not sending messages until I turned this on and
 enabled it for the patron.

If the EnhancedMessagingPreferences must be set, is there any way to auto

 I am running 3.12.3 on Debian 7

Re: [Koha] How frequently to run zebra rebuild and what switches

2013-08-20 Thread Olugbenga Adara
Hello Steven,

Looking for some advice and recommendations.   For a fairly small library

running Koha 3.12.00.000 from the Debian squeeze packages, how often should
the zebra_rebuild.pl script be executed and with exactly which switches?
Right now I run it at 7:30 AM each morning with -run-as-root -b -r
 -v

I am quite surprised you need to do that since you say you installed from
Debian packages. All the installations I have done through the Debian packages
always have the zebra incremental indexing properly set in cron and it is
usually set to run every 5 minutes. You can check your cron settings to make
sure that this is properly set and enabled to run regularly.

I don't think you need to run it manually. That is as per my own experience.

Cheers

Well, to be honest I really benefited from Live DVD. I am a librarian who
had no prior experience about linux. The live DVD assisted me a lot to
learn about Koha itself and the internal plumbing of linux. I am a self
taught koha and linux user. I remember at KohaCon12 in Edinburgh, Scotland
asking MJ and Chris Cormack about the possibility of a Koha Lived at the
conference. No, was the asnswer. Thanks to Mr Olugbenga Adara of Nigeria
and to my own persistence I taught my self. So it was the Live DVD, the
Koha mailing list and my own willingness to learn.

+1

If it is used as a demonstration and/or learning tool that is fine,
but any system in production should have a clear upgrade path and be
being run by someone who knows how to keep it up to date and secure.

Like Mirko, I see no problem with the live dvd being used as a
learning tool, its when it sneaks into production in a way that makes
it very difficult to upgrade. That just is a short cut to long term
problems.

This was also what I voted for too.

Chris

Just like Chrispin, I have also benefited using live CDs / DVDs to get up to
speed with Koha. It is a very useful tool for training and learning and demoing
Koha, especially in locations were Internet access is non existent.

However just like Chris and Mirko, I strongly advice against the use of live
CDs / DVDs in production environment, especially when such sites would be live
on the Internet. I have actually seen live Koha sites online that were
installed using live CDs or DVD and which were still accessible with default
usernames and passwords. If this is encouraged, it may give people impression
that Koha is highly insecure when such installs are broken into. I believe the
live Media should be encouraged but clearly stated at the default screens that
it is only for TRAINING PURPOSES AND NOT TO USE AS A PRODUCTION SYSTEM

Re: [Koha] How to handle multiple copies/items or authors while converting excel data to MARC

2013-04-26 Thread Olugbenga Adara
Hi Nanaji,

To start with the authors, you should have each author in its own cell in
excel. Then export out in excel in tab delimited, rather than comma. Then map
the additional author fields to 700$a in MarcEdit. Only the first (main author)
should be mapped to 100$a.

As per the accession number, what I do is to export out the first copy, use
MarcEdit to convert the file to Marc and then import into Koha. Then I repeat
the step for subsequent copies. I have not yet been able to understand how to
get Marcedit to generate multiple 952 lines for accession numbers in a single
file.

Some others may be able to shed more light on that!

Re: [Koha] New added items not searchable on OPAC and on Staff catalog but can be checked out by barcode

2013-04-15 Thread Olugbenga Adara
Admire,

When you run the indexing manually, does the number of records index tally with
the number you expect?

If it does, it may be that the framework you use to catalogue may not be
properly configured. I recently discover that if I do not have data in 942$c,
then those records will not show up in search results, though as you said, they
are found by barcode.

My two cents.

Re: [Koha] Issues with biblio import into Koha

2013-04-10 Thread Olugbenga Adara
This is now really getting weird.

The second copies Marc file has 2902 records. When this file is staged, it says
500 records were not matched. I split the file into 6 files of which 5 have 500
records each and the last with 402 record.

Staging each of these files always says 60 records not matched, totaling 360
compared with the earlier 500.

I now split one of the 500 records Marc file into 100s each and tried importing
again. For each file it says 20 records not matched, making 100 that will not
be matched compared to 60 if i import the 500 record file once.

Am I experiencing a bug?

As usual, any pointers / help would be appreciated

Thanks

 Hello all,

 This has got me stumped!

I am trying to import some set of bib records into Koha totaling about 5300.
About 2900 of these records have two items while the remaining has just one
 item.

Using MarcEdit, I have created two MARC files, the first with the first or
 only
copies of the records, while the 2nd has the records having only the 2nd copy.

I created a unique 001 field for each record and then created a record
 matching
rule based on 001 (Local-number). After importing the MARC file of the 1st
 copy,
I rebuild the zebra index before importing the Marc file for the second copy.

Now the problem is that is that during the second copies import, it says
 about
500 of the records were not matched, matching the remainder. I had first
 tried
this with a title match but got a similar result. I checked that the records
 not
matched actually exist in the Koha database with the correct 001 value.
I don't understand why some records do not match and some do.

The database is fresh with just only one previous bib in it before the
 imports.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction to sort this out? Or a
 better
 way to do the import?

I am running Koha 3.10.4 on debian squeeze (package install)

Hi Hagar,

Hi,

We use TESS system for our students data and I want to know if it is
possible to transfer our patron data to KOHA ?

We plan also to move from TESS to PowerSchool data information system for
students. Do you know if it is possible to transfer data from PowerSchool to
KOHA ?

We have also some data in excel sheets, how about its transfer to excel to
KOHA ?

I don't know about TESS or PowerSchool but you can definitely transfer patron
data in Excel to Koha. IF TESS or PowerSchool can export out as csv you'll be
good to go too.

There are several Koha demo online and you could take one for a spin to try
(check koha-community.org). You can also transfer biblio records in Excel also
to Koha but that is not as straight forward as the patron import.

Hello,

Thanks for the information. In my Excel file I do have a column for 952$o
and 050$a, but I do not know why the item records where not populated with
the call numbers? Also my  itemcallnumber in the Cataloguing global
preferences is set to 050ab. I am now wondering is there is a script or
mysql query that I can run to update the item call numbers.

I am not aware of a script that will do that for you. But what I did when I had
a similar issue was to export out the records, and using MarcEdit, fixed the
copied the 050ab to 952o for every record/item and reimported back into Koha.
Of course you need to make sure you have the proper match point so you don't
get duplicate records.

If such a script exists however, it would be nice to know.

Re: [Koha] Call number appearing in Bib record but not in Item

2013-02-27 Thread Olugbenga Adara
Hello Admire,

I have imported a records from an Excel file to Koha. My  major challenge
now is that call numbers are appearing on bib records but not on item
records. I am aware there is a settings that you have to setup for the item
records to pick the call number form bib.  I will appreciate any hint.

If you imported from Excel, then you should have made sure that your call
number is mapped to 952$o. Then your call number will appear on item records.
if you used Marcedit for translating your Excel file to MARC, this should be
easy.

However if you were doing copy cataloging and you wanted the call number to
show up in items, then you should set the itemcallnumber under the cataloging
system preference.

For example if you were using LC then you would enter 050ab into the
itemcallnumber field. You can check
http://manual.koha-community.org/3.10/en/administration.html#catprefs for more
info.

I am not sure setting the itemcallnumber will work for imported data. Others
may be able to confirm. I usually populate the field while converting data
using MarcEdit.

Hope this helps.

We want to export our patron database, but there is
obviously no standard tool for that function.

  Any suggestions?

I think your best bet to do this from within Koha, (as
opposed to accessing your db directly) is to write a report
which includes all the fields you want and download as csv
after running the report from the Koha reports module.

 Hope this helps.

2. Export out comma or tab delimited, then use MARCEdit to covert this into a
valid marc file.

3. Export the sheet containing multiple copies also as comma or tab delimited,
use Marcedit to generate a second marc file, this one now contains the muliple
copies

4. Import the first file into Koha.

5. After the import of the first file and INDEXING, import the 2nd file,
creating an appropriate match criteria to make sure that only the items
information would now be imported sisce it should find matching BIBS.

I hope a made a little sense to you. Let me know if you need more explanation.

 Hello all,

The voting closed at 3am EST this morning and the tallies
 are in.  I
have shared the files (without names) on the Wiki:
 http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Kohacon2013

The final point totals from the voting are:

Reno, NV, USA [Sept or Oct] :: 2256
Ibadan, Nigeria [Jul, Aug, or Sept]  :: 1411
Córdoba, Argentina [Jul, Aug, or Sept]  :: 1381
The National Capital Region, USA [Oct or Mar]  :: 1366
Erie, Pennsylvania, USA [Summer] :: 1344

The voting rules were shared with you all, but here they are
 again:

If you vote for someplace as #1 it gets 5 points, #2 it gets
 4 points,
and so on. In the end we tally the points to see where the
 conference
takes place. That way if everyone picks one place as #1 but
 more
people pick it as second and third it still might win. So
 basically if
you won't go somewhere no matter what then don't vote for
 that
location and it will get no points from you.

And so the numbers above are not the total votes for first
 place, they
are the tallies using the math described above.

I did do some checking for duplicates voters. If you voted
 more than
once your final vote was saved and the others deleted. If
 you left out
your email address (which was required and which we used to
 find
duplicates) your vote was deleted.  Other than that no
 modifications
 were made to the votes.

 Thanks
 Nicole C. Engard

[Koha] Acquisitions issue

2012-07-12 Thread Olugbenga Adara
Hello all,

I have recently deployed Koha 3.8.2 and discovered that i am unable to specify
quantity received when receiving an order in the acquisition module with the
AcqCreateItem system preference set to receiving an order.

If i change the syspref to placing an order I am unable to specify the
quantity for the item.

In both cases the text box i am suppose to enter the quantity of items is
uneditable.

I have tried the Bywater 3.8 demo and it works as expected.

Please can anyone give me a pointer to what may be wrong?

Thanks

[Koha] Kohacon 12 - Invitation letter

2012-03-16 Thread Olugbenga Adara
Hello,

I think this should be directed to MJ Ray and KohaCon12 organizers.

I have some users of Koha in Nigeria, showing interest in attending KohaCon12
in Edinburgh. However, they do require a letter of invitation, to present to
their institution and the embassy.

I guess the letter should just state the conference date(s), venue and the fact
that it is a free conference but participants will have to sort out
feeding/accommodation/visa by themselves.

Is it possible for the conference organizers to do something about this?

Regards.

Yes, the cataloguing screens can use plugins, you will see
 they are
turned on for lots. In the case of 260 you would need to
 write a new
 one.
 The plugins live at
 cataloguing/value_builder/

I have seen the plugins. Though I am not sure I can wrap my head around them.

What I am actually wondering is that some fields in the framework remembers
previous entries and prompts you when you start typing. Others dont.

So I guess my question should be - How can one turn on the ability of a field
in the framework to remember what has been typed in that system / browser
before?

Thanks so much for the reply.

[Koha] Autocomplete values in catalogue data entry

2011-12-02 Thread Olugbenga Adara
Hello,

Is it possible to turn on autocomplete in certain fields in the framework used
in cataloging?

For example tag 260 place of publication and publisher can really benefit from
picking from a value entered before.

Re: [Koha] error 404 not found - koha 3.04.05

2011-10-03 Thread Olugbenga Adara
Hello,

Try checking your koha configuration file for apache, usually found in
/etc/koha. During an upgrade the file is usually replaced, though koha install
scripts back up the previous version.

This would explain why you were able to log in in the first situation but got
404 after reboot when apache read the new config files.

Hope this helps.

hi,

I installed koha 3.0.6 with the livecd and ubuntu 10.04 and tried to do a
update on the newest version of 3.04.05 of koha. Now I get the error 404 on
starting localhost:8080 or also on :80.

My install and update steps in order:

1. Install on a blank PC the liveCD with 3.0.6 and ubuntu 10.04
2. Runing webinstaller of Koha, marc21 and zebra are selected, as also the
Z39.50 samples
3. Install compled
4. Copy of koha-install-log (/usr/share/koha/misc) to desktop
5. update and upgrade the ubuntusystem with apt-get update / upgrade
6. install openssh-server
7. install nxclient, nxnode, nxserver
8. unpack koha.tar.gz to desktop
9. sudo perl koha_perl_deps.pl -u -m
10. sudo cpan - install all parts until sudo perl koha_perl_deps.pl -u -m
birngs no results [all questions with yes or y ]
11. sudo apt-get install libtemplate-perl
12. open koha-install-log from step 4
13. sudo perl Makefile.pl --prev-install-log /usr/share/koha/misc
14. answer all questions as in koha-install-log is written (e.g. root/root
insted if koha/koha, ...); when I not do that I got an error by sudo make
upgrade or by starting webinstaller
15. sudo make
16. sudo make test - PASS
17. sudo make upgrade
18. start localhost:8080
19. Update is done
20. Some error by Update
21. localhost:8080 and :80 is possible to login
22. restart PC
23. localhost:8080 and :80 brings the error 404 - page not found

-
other  situation:
I did everything like before until step 21.
than I did:
22. log in as kohaadmin on :8080
23. change language form en to de (both); no selction allowed
24. back to start page - error as in the old translation package - gui not
usable, links not usable etc. not possible to go to settingspage

So I hope someone have a idea what I can do to get my first situation
solved.

I tried to do my install also with step by step installing but I always got
problems, so I use the livecds.

I choosed that live cd version because I want to use ubuntu 10.04.

So thanks and bye

2011-10-03 Thread Olugbenga Adara
Hi,

I dont think you need to replace the xml file. Just replace the koha-httpd.conf
file with the koha-httpd.conf_upgrade_backup file. But make a backup of your
present koha-httpd.conf file before replacing just in case.

Then restart apache with the command /etc/init.d/apache2 restart or reboot
your system.

Good luck

Hello,
thanks for the answer. In that folder I just found following files:

koha-conf.xml
koha-conf.xml_upgrade_backup
koha-httpd.conf
koha-httpd.conf_upgrade_backup
README.txt

Do you mean I should replace the koha-conf.xml with the
koha-conf.xml_upgrade_backup?

Should I do it with the other conf file also?

Thanks for help

Re: [Koha] Cataloguing Electronic resources

2011-09-01 Thread Olugbenga Adara
Hello Ann,

For the libraries I set up, I use itemtypes rather than ccode. I make sure
942$c is turned on in the frameworks to catalogue ebooks, websites etc and
choose the proper itemtype.

There is also a system preference, i think, that i turn on that uses the
biblios itemtype rather than the items itemtype to search.

 Hi Ann,

We've not catalogued any websites but for documents we are
 using a
collection code ED (electronic documents). Our approach is
 currently a bit
inconsistent when it comes to items as sometimes we've
 attached them and
sometimes we haven't, although we do also an item-type ED
 (E-version). When
we have attached an item we've made up the barcode which
 can be any
 combination of letters and/or numbers, e.g. QLDmain0709.

I'll be interested in seeing any other responses to this
 question, and would
also  like to know what people do about link checking.
 I must admit I hadn't
thought stocktaking as it's not something we've ever been
 required to do.

We are also currently on 3.2.

I'm wondering how people are cataloguing websites and other
 electronic
resources so that they are able to be searched by
 collection codes. I have
trolled the net looking for discussions but have not found
 anything
pertinent yet. The nub of the problem is that if they don't
 have attached
items you cannot enter item types and ccodes, however I
 don't want to assign
barcodes. Are there hidden snags if you have items without
 barcodes? What
happens at stocktake when you have no actual item to
 stocktake? Is there a
better way to do this? I have used item types to assign
 borrower privileges
and ccodes as search points and I am just about to move
 from 3.2 to 3.4.

Hi Deepak,There are two different web interfaces or sites in Koha. The staff client and the OPAC. The URL you have there is for the staff client and not the OPAC. Sometimes the OPAC may be at :8000 but you can check what port it is on by looking through your apache config files or the koha conf file usually somewhere in etc/kohaOlugbenga Adara

This should be the ipaddress or FQDN

of your server including the port number but
excluding the

 trailing slash. e.g. opac.library.com:8000

Without it, some features does not work.

There is no need for anybody to login at the OPAC to search (unless you have
turned on a system preference to make OPAC private) But they need to login to
do stuffs like hold, renew, view fines etc.

Your librarians also should not use kohaadmin. Each should have their seperate
login with required permission given at the staff client.

Hi Ashok,

If I understand your post well, you mean in some instances you see items while
in other instances in the same batch, you see no items.

I would advice you check your marc records very well. You may also try the
command line bulkmarcimport tool or try upgrading to 3.2.10 and try again.

[Koha] Upgrading Issues

2011-07-27 Thread Olugbenga Adara
Hello all,

I am in the process of upgrading an installation from 3.0.to 3.4. Because this
particular install was first installed as 2.2.9 nozebra and later upgraded to
3.0 nozebra, certain koha to Marc relationships are not the same as those in a
default 3.2 or 3.4 install.

Specifically rather than 999$c as biblionumber, it is 090$c, bibliitemnumber is
090$d rather than 999$d while itemnumber is 952$v rather than 952$9. Also the
Permanent location is 952$d rather than 952$a. This has not allowed zebra
searches to work.

Now I thought of exporting out the Marc records, using marcedit to correct the
Marc data and reimporting the records into koha using the title as a match
point. I believe Koha should then retain the item number as we do not want to
lose the issues record.

The other way I am thinking of is to change the melm entries in record.abs, but
I think this has to be repeated for every future upgrade.

Does anyone have any advice for the best way to handle this issue?

Thanks a lot.

Re: [Koha] Using Barcode with koha

2011-07-21 Thread Olugbenga Adara

Hello Prajeesh,

Anyone is using KOHA with barcode.
Is it possible. Any additional software needed.
Tell me the experience. Any problems occured during the implementation.

If you mean the barcode reader hardware, i guess its just plug and play on the
client computer in my experience. If you mean printing barcodes, yes Koha
supports printing of barcodes. If you are more comfortable with some other
software, you could just connect to the Koha database and print out the
barcodes you want.

And its Koha and not KOHA  ;-)

Hi all, We seem to have a rather annoying problem at the moment; our patron
card numbers are set up to be automatically assigned, so if the last new patron
was, say 8002, the next one would automatically be 8003 and so on.Now, after we
upgraded to 3.04 it seems not to do that anymore. The switch in administration
is set to do automatically assign cardnumbers. Is there something else I
should look into or we have missed?  Thanks, Marty

Re: [Koha] I can access de staff client but not the OPAC

2011-06-22 Thread Olugbenga Adara
Hello Martin,

If you are using webmin, then when you go to servers - Apache webserver, it
should show you your virtual servers and what ports they are running on.

Since you are running on Linode, if things are too screwed up you may just
start all over again. But if you say the staff client is working, fixing this
should be easy.

Can you let me know what virtual hosts you have - server name, document root
and port?

Hello Olugbenga, thanks for anwsering so quickly :)

I am using ubuntu 10.04 LTS, but I don't know what port I installed the OPAC
on. I just supposed it would be in 8081 like the times I installed koha in my
local network... I added Listen 8081 and Listen 8080 (for the staff client)
in ports.conf, but for some reason the staff client works, but the opac doesn't.

Besides, I have been tinkering with the Apache webserver options in webmin
trying to fix this... but I may have made it worse

I know there must be an easy solution for this, but I am fairly new to these
technologies and self-taught, so I lack some basic knowledge about them.

I hope you can help me

Re: [Koha] Secure 856u

2011-05-18 Thread Olugbenga Adara
Hello Jonson,

I am not sure that what you want is possible with Koha. In a similar
circumstance, what I did was to upload the pdf files into a document manager
component in Joomla CMS and then put the url for the document in Koha's 856u.
So when you click on it in OPAC, it opens a new window in Joomla telling you
that you must login to access the document. This of course means you duplicate
your users in Joomla.

A solution which I thought of but has not tried is to upload the files into a
directory protected by apache's htaccess file which authenticate to an LDAP
Server. Then also have Koha authenticate to the same LDAP server. That way you
wont have to bother about synchronizing users between Koha and Joomla.

My 2 cents!
