its fixed

but

Debian has a

just rm it

From past bug reports it appears there is a libmarc-xml-perl package in both
the Debian repo and the Koha repo.

I tried putting an apt hold on libmarc-xml-perl and then completing the apt
upgrade, but this breaks my koha system. So, I'm unable to upgrade
koha-common at present.

Any suggestions to fix this would be helpful.

Hi!

Is there a way to populate this with the content from 264$c which, in my
case, is always a ? In the templates for batch operations I can only
find ways to copy into fields with subfields, not into fixed fields.

If you're using ElasticSearch, you could change the Elasticsearch
mappings to use 264$c for date-of-publication (instead of the default
008_/7-10). Though I haven't tested that yet, but we've just had a
meeting where we decided to try it this way... :-)

Not really an answer to your question, but if you're only asking the
question to get the data searchable, it should be still usable.

this sound like a UTF16 Problem.

Microsoft (=Excel) encodes the text in a „different“ format

so the easiest way is to
export to csv
use a text editor to get the encoding to UTF8

Re: [Koha] Seeking advise

2020-05-29 Thread Stowasser Rainer
Dear Tadesse

I had to do this once
and from my experience
I would go for 2

Clean install of new version and just handle the data

IF the data is „clean“ MARC
(no special use of fields for „special purposes“ as libraries do :-)
This is done in one day

IF certain „adaptions“ where made
the two libraries should talk to each other
and straighten this out before they merge ;-)

a upgrade of the systems doesnt help you …..

I noticed that the display and the information of the libraries are
not always accurate and useful, but I have trouble providing something
that would be ergonomic.

There are 2 things to display: the Koha's installations and the libraries
A Koha installation can have several libraries (branches).
We have 3 views:
- See all libraries https://hea.koha-community.org/libraries
- See by country https://hea.koha-community.org/libraries-by-country
- See on a map https://hea.koha-community.org/libraries-on-a-map

On the map there are only the installations that are displayed.
Before today all libraries from all installations were displayed on
the "all libraries" view, one row per library. It is still as it but
they are now grouped by installation: for instance search for
"Bibliothèque université Lyon 3" and you will see the different
libraries for this installation. I feel like it is better but not
perfect. We should at least remove the second if there is only 1
library and that it has the same value as the installation.

On the "by country" I have not changed anything, but libraries are
displayed. It seems that it would be better to display the
installations instead.

Basically my feeling is that we should only display the installations
on the map, "by country" and maybe on "all libraries" as well. And the
details of the installation on the installation view (for instance
https://hea.koha-community.org/libraries/602 for Lyon 3).

I guess somebody else could think the contrary and prefer to highlight
"per library" instead of "per installation".

I am open to any suggestions, feel free to open issue on the tracker
of the project or simply by answering to this email.

Regards,
Jonathan

PS: Yes some old/wrong data must be removed. I planned to remove all
data that have not been updated in the last 6 months (which represent
~300 installations out of 1145), but actually some seem valid, so it
is certainly a bug somewhere...

Cool

does anyone has experience wit RedHat ?

An institution in Austria wants to use koha
but they use just this distribution for everything.

They had some installation errors and asked me for help
but we only use OpenSuse ;-)

Re: [Koha] package install debian koha 17.11

2018-03-26 Thread Stowasser Rainer
I love playing around :-)

so for the records

5) libplack-middleware-reverseproxy-perl
depends on
4) libplack-perl
depends on
3) libtest-tcp-perl
depends on
2) libtest-sharedfork-perl
depends on
1) libtest-tcp-perl

so if you install 1 to 5

koha-common

will install

The following extra packages will be installed:
  libtest-exception-perl libtest-mockobject-perl starman

and everything runs

[Koha] package install debian koha 17.11

2018-03-26 Thread Stowasser Rainer
Hy 2 all

I wanted to test the "new" koha release
by package install on debian jessie

and stumbled on this:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
koha-common : Depends: libplack-middleware-reverseproxy-perl but it is not
going to be installed
Depends: libtest-exception-perl but it is not going to be
installed
Depends: libtest-mockobject-perl but it is not going to be
installed
Depends: starman but it is not going to be installed

any ideas ?

Re: [Koha] Importing WINISIS data into Koha

2017-12-04 Thread Stowasser Rainer
Hy Alex

I had the same "problem"

What I did was to generate the MARC records outside of Koha
using Catmandu, MarcEdit
and then import them into Koha

As I understand there is not much in Koha for conversion from other systems
but if you have it up
it works perfect ;-)

Hi Team,

I’ve been asked to migrate some library data currently in WINISIS into Koha and
just wondered if anyone has been down this path recently and can share any
advice or tools or recipe etc they used?

I’ve previously done one conversion from the XML file that WINISIS can export
to, into MARC records via perl + MARC library, for a non-Koha system a number
of years ago, but am hoping there might be some better alternatives now… ;)

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Hallo Katrin

danke für die Antwort.

Die Titeldaten funktionieren perfekt
(hier eine Anleitung wie der Zugang funktioniert
http://abunchofthings.net/blog/freie-metadaten-von-der-dnb-per-sru/ )

https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=19436

Das BSZ bietet einen Z39.50-Zugang zur OGND an, der frei genutzt werden
kann:

z3950n.bsz-bw.de:20210
Datenbank: swb104
kein Passwort
UTF-8

Einige weitere Informationen findest du hier:
https://wiki.bsz-bw.de/doku.php?id=v-team:daten:z39.50neu

http://lists.koha-community.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/koha-de

Viele Grüße,

Katrin Fischer

[Koha] Newbie Kotau

2017-08-31 Thread Stowasser Rainer
Dear fellow Koha /admins/user/frriends

I m a public servant in Vienna at the "Zentralanstalt für Meteorologie und
Geodynamik" (Austrian weather and seismological service) and I became a
librarian just recently after 20 years of empirical research and knowledge
working (and a lot of IT stuff).

For the past 6 Months (Its a one man job :-)
I ve converted our old library system (programmed 1992 ;-) to Koha
also doing the step (forward ?) from MAB2 to MARC21.

The system is now up and running but for the time being only accessible
internally.

I ve subscribed to the mailing list cause for me there are many questions open
before going "public".

Our Data are far below authoritative and have to be "polished" as our holdings
are unique (>65.000 books before 1945, from them >27.000 before 1918) so
catalog enrichment (copy and paste ;-) is possible in very few cases (as my
research at LOC, Austrian and German National Library has shown).

Right now I m (re) learning Perl (done my programming for the last 10 Years in
Python ) and playing around with the Koha System.

Koha is a great System and the longer I dig into it the more I like it..

Cheers
