[Koha] Budget calculation in Koha Acqusition module home page?

Dear All

I wish to know from which tables budget calculation is displayed in the
Koha acqusition home page i.e. the result which is displaying under the
head " Ordered " and "Spent"

I have a doubt on "Total spent" column, it picks data from
ecost_tax/included/excluded/ecost and quantity column whereas my view is it
should pick from uniprice/unitprice_tax_excluded/unitprice_tax_included and
multiply with quantityreceived column. Please suggest which file to refer
to check the source of mysql query for this display/report?

[Koha] Koha JSON public Report to HTML table conversion with table sorter functionality

Dear All,

Koha provides facility to make your own reports through staff client and
publish it public so that it can be viewed by anyone through web browser
(URL). We have created new arrivals public report at NIT Rourkela at
http://opac.nitrkl.ac.in/ and displayed in html table format too but its
limitation is pop-up and embedded in the Koha main OPAC home page as given
in the below manual and same report can be also viewed here
 with JSON format
which is not very much friendly:

The display of such report in public is a great feature where libraries can
make some data dynamically available to all  like top issued books, best
users in terms of transaction, library new arrivals, budget statistics,
vendors list, etc.

There is chances of attack/spam through your Koha server, however gmail
always block such automated emails after some time as per my observation.

[Koha] Alert Regarding: Free KOHA OPAC Mobile App

Dear All,

The message below has been floated for those who are using Koha and very
enthusiastic professionals who are willing to showcase as much as possible
with minimum efforts. The Mobile App is not meant for your/any library by
default and to get the app your library must be on some public domain name
and lot of other information you need to provide through the app than the
concerns will send you the app. My view is please avoid such things in the
age where people are much concern about data security.

My questions from the developers and you all are:

1. What if the domain name of any Koha/OPAC will change?
2. What if the database schema of koha updated?
3. What is the update policy of the said App?
4. Where is the source code to modify/improve the app by the community like
Koha?
5. To whom should we contact if face any problem in the app?
6. How to use the app if many are managing the koha on Intranet only?
7. How much space etc. it consumes on the mobile and which version of
android is supported.
8. Which version of Koha does it support?

Sorry for my little understanding of the below Koha App but please clarify
the points above.

their responce was very rude " its free software but not force to use" and

We are sending a lot of alert messages through Koha like book renewal,
hold, overdue, etc. So how can we make this possible to send birthday
wishes from Koha?

The system should match the Koha server date with patron birthday record
and sent a wish as per library defined format like other email alerts?

[Koha] Deletion of books from purchase suggestion

Hello
Can we restrict patrons to delete the record of those books which is
recommended by him/her but now it is available/ordered?. It will help to
maintain the records of the requester permanently in the system. Presently
system allows patrons to delete the books online which they have request
although it is ordered/available in the library.

A system preference in OPAC with following option to choose/activate can be made

1. Users can edit/delete purchase suggestion at any stage
2. Users can edit/delete purchase suggestion before approval/ordered only


A message should populate on OPAC if option two is selected by
librarian " you can't edit/delete purchase suggestion"

[Koha] Schema upgrade issue 16.11 to 20.05

While restoring Koha 16.11 from Mysql database to 20.05 Mariadb 10.03
database found below warning during database schema upgrade. Please suggest
the possible problem or it can be ignored?

Hi

Yes, I reinstalled the plugin even though it behaves differently. I removed
all the all auto generated previous codes and trying to install the
coverflow again on the test machine.

Another thing is I uninstalled all the auto-generated scripts and coverflow
plugin and after reinstalling not able to see any auto-generated scripts in
opacuserjs etc.

[Koha] YouTube Link embeded problem

I know koha 16.11.11 is not a supported version but can anyone confirm if
YouTube video streaming feature works on that or not? Although it has been
started since 16.05 , I checked in the latest version 20.05 that works fine
but there may be any bug in the above 16.11.11 version?

Please help, how to generate sql reports if there is repeatable field
having 2 or more data and get the report under two different rows for the
repeatable field?

[Koha] Koha and OS upgrade procedure

Hello

I am running Koha 16.11.11 on Debian 8 and Mysql DB. Please suggest how to
upgrade OS, Koha, as well as from MySql to MariaDB.

Will it be ok/easy to Install the latest Version of Debian Koha and Restore
the MYSql backup over MariaDB?  OR

Should I upgrade step by step on the same current server?

Anyone noticed the following in Koha 20.05.03

1. Reserve/Place a hold on book
2. Chek-in the book
3. It does not pop up a screen with the option to send email/print, etc.

Why upgrade of schema stuck at "(Tē tōia, tē haumatia)" ? however, once I
escape and again upgrade it goes well. Is there any problem in escaping and

[Koha] koha backup issue mariadb 10.4

Hello

Installed fresh Koha 20.05 for some testing on ubuntu 18.05 everything
seems well but automatic default backup creating in /var/spool/koha/library
is missing even running the backup.sh file manually does not generate any
backup.

Please not 10.4 MariaDB does not allow to set a root password by default as
its new feature.

problems only can it be made like feedback? or is there any option so that
users can send messages to the library via Koha as the library desk can
send messages which populates on the user account on login.

[Koha] 502 apache error

Hello

I have upgraded Koha 16.11 to 20.05, on Ubuntu 18.04 with Mariadb 10.4.

Everything is fine but Koha stops working sometime with the below error,
however some network related work is going on in our computer center where
Koha server is managed by them. All the applications are working like
institute website, library website, etc. but only Koha is having the
problem below.

May I know if this is a Koha related issue or any network issue?

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request

Reason: Error reading from remote server

Apache/2.4.29 (Ubuntu) Server at 192.168.1.134 Port 80

[Koha] Internal server error

[vinod mishra]

Hello

My koha opac and staff client gives Internal server error while opening it.
I found server consumes all hardisk space very frequently .

My server maintenance team looking this issue but I am worried if there is
any Koha related issue, however size of our database is only 1.5GB

Koha version 20.05.04, Ubuntu 18.04 and mariadb 10.4

Please suggest

Can you tell me exact location and exact log files as I know there are many
log files there .

Hi

As discussed while opening opac and staff of koha "Internal server error "
message I got and it happened due to space only. Koha logs did not checked
and but my server team is checking if any issue with Ubuntu.
I am just worried if there is any Koha issue ? However it happening since
two days earlier it was fine.

Hello

I guess it's not like that, once space we increase system works fine and
again gives error if space is not available.

Hope my Koha database is fine and it can be restored in new system without
any issue ? If problem does not resolved ? What you say?

Thanks for your helps,Now we traced that folder
var/lib/koha/library/biblios has taken much space

 biblios is main culprit

Hello

I found the size of file "tmp" is very high at
/var/lib/koha/library/biblios/tmp   which is approx 83GB, saw there are a
lot of files generated there. I think by default there is no such files
after installation but I am not able to trace the reason for such files
which is much in number.

Please suggest can I delete all the files and further suggestions to avoid
such an issue.

I have deleted all the files and now it started working again, but don't
know the cause of generating such huge files.

[Koha] written off amount reflect in credit after return of book

Hello

Due to covid 19 we have written off several fines and extended the due date
with bulk due date extend option. When the user is returning the books the
same written off amount reflect in his/her account under CREDIT.

Once void all credit then it does not reflect anything. Please suggest

Thanks a lot, so only way for me is to void the credit amount which shows
after checked in of books ?

Because we have already extended the due date and almost 1000s of users
fine has been written off in the system. Please suggest if there is any
alternative to avoid credit now else all users credit needs to be voided I
guess after return of books.

[Koha] Acquisition module takes more time

I notice in almost every version of the Koha Acquisition module takes
usually more time than others especially when entering New purchase
suggestion and saving it takes more time. How can I boost this performance?

Thanks for your email, Actually myself took initiative and few library
professionals of India contributed long back for this development. L2C2
Technologies took responsibility to develop but unfortunately it is not yet
done. So I am looking for some alternatives.
I don't know the difficulty behind this development but during Covid
situation it is badly needed.

[Koha] Inter library loan electronic article request.

Hello

Seen ILL features but how can we make possible the article request? The
requirement is:

1. A user may request an online article of the journal via OPAC along with
its detail like URL/DOI etc. which is not available to institute.
2. The librarians see the request on the staff client
3. Librarians send the same request to other institutes libraries
colleagues through email (Not from Koha)
4. On getting the soft copy librarian to upload the article and then
members receive the email and download the same from their OPAC portal
5. Which librarians fulfilled their request should be shown along with
status.

Please not hear no library (branch or participating library need to be
created) it is just a free request through Koha to manage inside the koha.

[Koha] payment/fines with offline circulation

Hello

May I know how to pay fines in offline mode and upload later like
issue/return? I have tried but it seems it's not working, the file created
contains all the fields except barcodes during payment of fines. Barcode is
also mandatory if yes then how to add barcode against the fines.

[Koha] Koha upgrade and restore issue

Hello
I wish to restore the database from one server to other in same version
(22.05.07.000) but while running the " *sudo koha-upgrade-schema library*"
command it through following error. Almost same error getting while running
" *sudo koha-rebuild-zebra -v -f library* " command. Please suggest the
possible issue.

I am also facing the same issue in the same version and seems everything is
configured correctly, even though there is no holiday configured except
Sunday. There are a lot of overdue books but neither shows total
accumulated fines nor after the return of books.

[Koha] how to avoid high cpu uses due to web crawlers

Hello

I found that an IP 47.76.35.19 is hitting my opac continuously, due to
which CPU use is very high, and it makes the entire Koha opac and staff
client very slow.

I tried following the links but could not resolve the issue.

Thanks that is the ultimate solution, looking for any other effective
solution too if faced in future. Creating robots.txt file seems easy but
finding which crawler is hitting is difficult with IP

[Koha] Staff permission flag

Hello
I just need a confirmation that whenever we assigned staff permission to
someone in koha it generate some number depending on options permitted, for
example full access flag id 1, only catalogue, 4, etc and for others number
in 3/4 digits.
My question is above numbers are fixed according to the options permitted
and will it continue in next versions. Actually I am trying to develop some
tool and authenticate on the basis of flag ID.

Actually I developed application for visitors counter and staff user name
and password is authenticated / linked with koha borrowers table and
allowed to enter only if flag is 1.

So this type of authentication is possible with API

I wish you all a Very Happy Librarian's Day; it's my pleasure to launch
today:

VisitorInOut: An Open-Source Visitor Management System is launched on
August 12th, Librarian’s Day, by Prof. H.N. Prasad Retired Professor and
President of the Mahamana Library Science Alumni Association (the Alumni
Association of the Department of Library & Information Science, BHU), in
the esteemed presence of Prof. Aditya Tripathi, Head of the Department of
Library & Information Science, BHU, and many other alumni from various
reputed institutes of India.

Release Information:

In honor of the 132nd birth anniversary of Padma Shri Dr. S.R. Ranganathan,
the first version of VisitorInOut is launched as open-source software under
the MIT license. The first version is now available on GitHub,
 and it
is named v1.24.08 (Dr. Ranganathan Release) in tribute to his contributions
to library science.

When i am trying to restore the database of Koha 3.8.9 to on 3.20.2 it
gives following error after running* koha-upgrade-schema library* command.

[Koha] Koha error while returning the book

Dear All,

I am facing below problem while returning the books, but it happens only in
few users because when i return the same book after issue in other member
it does not show the error. Koha 20.03 on Ubuntu. The member data has been
imported into the Koha rather than manual entry.

Software error:

Can't call method "truncate" on an undefined value at
/usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Circulation.pm line 1967.

[Koha] Bug: duplicate barcode check while adding multiple item in Koha

Koha bug : Suppose a barcode number "1234" has been already entered in
the koha system and if by mistake someone assigns again the same
number system says barcode must be unique, but in case of entering
multiple copy instead of warning system assigns next series of
barcodes. For example there are 04 copy of the same title and
user/staff enters barcode of first book say "1234" in barcode field
and in number of copy 4 than system assigns 1234, 1235,1236 and 1237
but if 1234 is already available in the system than instead of warning
it assigns automatically next available numbers i.e. it drops the
first number (1234) and assigns 1235, 1236, 1237 ans 1238. My view is
even we are entering multiple copy and if barcode is duplicate than
koha should warn the system instead of assigning next available

Dear All,

I am maintaining my blog/website at http://mishravk.com/ for free flow of
knowledge and sharing of information which i have without any restriction
and charge. Today i came across a commercial service provider of Koha at
http://bestbookbuddies.com/faq who copied my original tutorial on " Data
Conversion (Book and Journals) from Libsys to Excel/Marc
"
from http://mishravk.com/2014/11/data-conversion-book-and-
journals-from-libsys-to-excelmarc/ . In the current instance they have
copied the content and screen shots and converted into PDF with
watermarking, most surprising is they have not yet mentioned the original
source.

Therefore all library fraternity is requested to check whether the service
provider is selling there own product/brain or its others which is already
available free of cost some where and provided by voluntary basis by
library professionals itself.

I on behalf of entire LIS fraternity thanks to Mr. Indranil Das Gupta
 , a Koha developer from India (
http://www.l2c2.co.in/ ) for his contributions/help for entire Library
professionals. He has contributed many patch as well as gifted some
features to entire library professionals free of cost although he is having
his own firm L2C2 technologies. Recently he has made long awaited SMS
driver for Koha users so that one can use it free of cost after availing
sms services. As per my personal observation he always helps the entire

I got the solution which is available inside the
*bulkmarcimport.pl <http://bulkmarcimport.pl> file of Koha. So the command
would be:*
*perl bulkmarcimport.pl <http://bulkmarcimport.pl> –framework BKS -file
kohaMARC_x.mrc*(BKS is framework code)

You may get lot of solutions inside that file if you are importing the file
in Koha though command line.

[Koha] Staff client missing purchase suggestion link

Dear All,

Koha allows the staff to put the purchase suggestions on users behalf
through staff interface though in system preferences it has been
marked as "not allowed". But acquisition home page is missing
"suggestion management" link therefore staff is not able to view the
same if he/she has made suggestions on users behalf.

The requirement is it should always show the suggestions whether
system preference allows or not allows the users to make suggestions
via OPAC.

I have tested it on 16.11.07 installed on debian via package.
