Hi

Last week there was a similar problem but with debian 9.

Short solution found: Increase apache timeout.

You can take a look at that thead.

[Koha] Installation problem in Debian vps

2020-03-13 Thread seatry1999
Hi guys, I have an installation problem in * Debian GNU/Linux 10* vps.
So, I have followed the instructions in
https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_on_Debian.
After entering *$ sudo apt-get install koha-common*, there are a lot of
errors about BDB::mysql,
mostly about X table doesnt found.

Here is a clip of the error:

Upgrading database schema for testlibrary
DBD::mysql::db do failed: Table 'koha_testlibrary.systempreferences' doesn't
exist [for Statement "
SELECT * FROM systempreferences WHERE 1 = 0 "] at
/usr/share/koha/lib/Koha/Database.pm
 line 114.

What can I do to eliminate the error and install and configure Koha in my
vps? Thanks for your attention

From my notes when we tested about a year ago (Ubuntu 16.04LTS),
mpm-itk was problematic with apache 2.4 (fine on 2.2). It also did not
load with mpm_event or mpm_worker enabled, you have to use mpm-prefork.
We finally got it working with:

sudo apt-get install apache2-dev

but I hope there is now a "production" version of apache 2.4 (rather
than "dev") that might be suitable.

If you find a good solution, please post it back here. We're just
beginning to test 18.04, but haven't got to Koha yet ;={

There are two reasonable possibilities I can think of:

1) you don't have koha-common installed. If you haven't installed it,
details for that are here: http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Debian

2) your path isn't set up right and so koha-create can't be found. If
this is the case, then try:

sudo /usr/sbin/koha-create ...

instead.

It only works if you are installing from packages, which is recommended.

Re: [Koha] Installation problem

2015-05-07 Thread Craig Butosi
Hi Romesh,

I ran into this error myself. I discovered that it was because koha-common
(3.16 I believe) was not installed when it came time to create a database. In
my situation, what I overlooked at the time was the fact that koha-common
didn’t install when I thought it had; so, when I got to the step to create a
database, the error that you're seeing presented itself.

The reason koha-common didn’t install for me was because of a problem with the
stable main repository. I had to switch to oldstable main in
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/koha.list. When I did this, I restarted the
installation process and when I got to creating the database, it worked. Once I
reached the end of the installation cycle, I updated to the latest version of
koha with apt-get update, apt-get upgrade, install koha-common.

Not sure if this is any help to you, but I hope it is!

Greetings,

[snipped and edited a bit]

But when I enter the command apt-get install koha

Actually it is sudo apt-get install koha-common.

[snipped and edited a bit]

I added the line deb http://debian.koha-community.org/koha squeeze main
in the /etc/apt/sources.list [file].

First, it is a bad idea to touch the default repository file! You likely
messed up your repositories.
The instructions you should follow are found at
http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_3.8_on_Debian_Squeeze

Those instructions say it is supposed to be
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/koha.list that is affected.
The command you should use to set up for 3.8.x in a fresh Debian (or
Ubuntu -- for those lurking in the background) install is:
$ echo deb http://debian.koha-community.org/koha squeeze main | sudo tee
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/koha.list

Okay, but did you do the following as well?
$ wget -O- http://debian.koha-community.org/koha/gpg.asc | sudo apt-key
add -

--- BEGIN EXAMPLE GIVEN ---
ERROR
root@koha:/home/koha# apt-get install koha

Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
koha : Depends: koha-common but it is not going to be installed
Depends: dbconfig-common but it is not installable
Depends: mysql-server but it is not installable
E: Broken packages
--- END EXAMPLE GIVEN ---

Those dependencies are in the default repositories. You likely messed yours
up or the server from which you would normally pull the updates is not
reachable.

To check which is true attempt the following command:
$ sudo apt-get update
If it has a whole bunch of error messages, then it is unreachable. If the
list is very short (only the debian.koha-community.org repository), then you
messed up your repositories. If it is some other case, you will need to post
the output for someone else to be able to help you.

My gut feeling is you messed yours up. Given that I don't have Debian, I can
not provide you with a clean copy. Though, you may wish to re-install Debian
OR visit http://debgen.simplylinux.ch/ *IF* you did mess it up.
Reinstallation is my preference and recommendation, if there are no other
systems affected.

Re: [Koha] Installation problem

2012-04-09 Thread Joe
The link I posted was to my original Ubuntu Installation Manual. I created
this wiki post when I installed Koha on Ubuntu.
http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_on_Ubuntu The online version has
undergone a few edits and updates by various people. I may take the time to
figure out how to submit patches for the Ubuntu Install file at a later
date. I don't know that anything I have done needs or should be submitted
as a patch though.

We started using Koha for Periodicals in August of 2011. It replaced an
outdated Periodicals program we were paying $2,000 a year to use. We are
also looking at moving our Acquisitions to Koha as that would save us
$4,000 a year. The upside is that the Acquisitions looks like it won't be
as much work. I am still working on cataloging the item records for our
Non-Current Periodicals and that may get pushed back in favor of setting up
Acquisitions. Setting up Acquisitions will be a lot more stress though,
because I am going to be dealing with coworkers set processes.

We may eventually fully switch over to Koha. One thing that we are waiting
for is the patch for the Authorities Records to go through. Last I heard it
was slated to go into the next update, but that was at least two months ago.

It either means the MySQL password you specified during the Koha

setup. An example of when not to do this step would be installing a second
instance of Koha and pointing it to a database that was setup when
installing Koha the first time. The only part of Koha I have on the server
currently is the MySQL database. I have Koha installed on two separate
machines pointing to the hosted MySQL database.)

[cmd] mysqladmin -uroot -ppassword create kohadata

or, if you prefer not to have your mysql root password in your bash history
file, where someone may find it, leave the password out and it will be
asked for in a prompt.

[cmd] mysqladmin -uroot -p create kohadata

It is a good idea not to have koha use the root user for MySQL, but it may
be useful to give the root user access to the kohadata database. The koha
user and password for MySQL that is identified below will be asked for when
you run the Koha install.

[cmd] mysql -uroot -p

 GRANT ALL ON kohadata.* TO 'root'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'password';

 GRANT ALL ON kohadata.* TO 'koha'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'password';

 FLUSH PRIVILEGES;

Do you know the mysql root password?

Try this:
#mysql mysql
You may be asked for a password. It is the root mysql password. If you
can get in, then
$quit;

and retry the failing command, but replace password with the
password you just used.

If you were not asked for a password, but went straight to a mysql prompt, then
$quit;

and retry the failing command omitting -p password

If you don't know the mysql root password, then I'm afraid I don't
know how to overcome that problem

cheers

The root in -uroot means the root user on mysql; not the system root
user. password in -ppassword is the password for the mysql root user
on mysql.

root is obviously unchanged; what changes is the password. The
password would be set up at install time. On debian, the installer asks
to set up the root user's password while installing the mysql-server
package. This may be different for other distros / OSes. You are
expected to use that password here.

[Koha] Installation problem

2011-06-02 Thread Lars J. Helbo

Hi,

I am "training" the installation of Koha ;-)

Normally I would install from the live-CD, but unfortunately right
now I need to install Koha on an old server, which does not have a
DVD, so this time, I had to do it manually, and now I am stuck. Hope
somebody can give me a hint.

At first I installed Ubuntu 11.04. Then I followed the instructions
here:

http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_on_Ubuntu

very carefully step by step. (I took the latest version, which was
3.4.1). It looked good all way through, and I think I am almost
there. But at the very end, when I try to go to
http://127.0.1.1:8080 or http://127.0.1.1, I dont get a login-form.
Instead I get the following error-message:

Software error:
Access denied for user 'kohaadmin'@'localhost' (using password: YES) at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Context.pm line 692.
Compilation failed in require at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Auth.pm line 33.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Auth.pm line 33.
Compilation failed in require at /usr/share/koha/opac/cgi-bin/opac/opac-main.pl line 22.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/share/koha/opac/cgi-bin/opac/opac-main.pl line 22.

Anybody knows, what that means?

2011-06-02 Thread Chris Cormack
In general you are much better off following the instructions that come with
the tarball (or git clone)

In this case INSTALL.ubuntu.

What your error belows means is your kohaadmin user can not connect to the
database. You set up that use in mysql eh?

Thank you - you are the greatest !!
:-)

.. cause that gave me the hint, where to look. Yes, I had set up
MySQL, but the database was called kohadata instead of koha. After
creating the database koha using phpmyadmin everything works.

If you look here:

http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_on_Ubuntu

under 7 - Create MySQL Database and grant all privileges to the
koha database to the specified user

you will see, why I made this mistake. I think this is a general
problem in such manuals. For somebody like me, who is not a native
English speaker, it is often quiet difficult to realise, which words
should be taken literally and which ones should be seen as
placeholders for something.
