Hi guys, I have an installation problem in * Debian GNU/Linux 10* vps. So, I have followed the instructions in https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_on_Debian. Re: [Koha] Installation problem
Hi Romesh, I ran into this error myself. I discovered that it was because koha-common (3.16 I believe) was not installed when it came time to create a database. In my situation, what I overlooked at the time was the fact that koha-common didn’t install when I thought it had; so, when I got to the step to create a database, the error that you're seeing presented itself. The reason koha-common didn’t install for me was because of a problem with the stable main repository. I had to switch to oldstable main in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/koha.list. When I did this, I restarted the installation process and when I got to creating the database, it worked. Once I reached the end of the installation cycle, I updated to the latest version of koha with apt-get update, apt-get upgrade, install koha-common. Not sure if this is any help to you, but I hope it is! Best, Craig Butosi, MA, MLIS, B Mus (Hons.) Re: [Koha] Installation problem
The link I posted was to my original Ubuntu Installation Manual. I created this wiki post when I installed Koha on Ubuntu. http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_on_Ubuntu The online version has undergone a few edits and updates by various people. I may take the time to figure out how to submit patches for the Ubuntu Install file at a later date. I don't know that anything I have done needs or should be submitted as a patch though. We started using Koha for Periodicals in August of 2011. It replaced an outdated Periodicals program we were paying $2,000 a year to use. We are also looking at moving our Acquisitions to Koha as that would save us $4,000 a year. The upside is that the Acquisitions looks like it won't be as much work. I am still working on cataloging the item records for our Non-Current Periodicals and that may get pushed back in favor of setting up Acquisitions. Setting up Acquisitions will be a lot more stress though, because I am going to be dealing with coworkers set processes. We may eventually fully switch over to Koha. One thing that we are waiting for is the patch for the Authorities Records to go through. Last I heard it was slated to go into the next update, but that was at least two months ago. -Joe- On Fri, Apr 6, 2012 at 1:03 PM, Owen Leonard oleon...@myacpl.org wrote: Here is the link to my Koha Setup document, if anyone is interested. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/21733088/Koha%20on%20Ubuntu%20Installation%20Manual.doc May I suggest you edit the Ubuntu installation instructions on the wiki and/or submit a patch for the Ubuntu INSTALL file if you know of possible improvements? -- Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org -- Joseph Alway Access Services Coordinator Chan Shun Centennial Library Southwestern Adventist University The World's Great Literary Masterpieces. [Koha] Installation problem
Hi, I am "training" the installation of Koha ;-) Normally I would install from the live-CD, but unfortunately right now I need to install Koha on an old server, which does not have a DVD, so this time, I had to do it manually, and now I am stuck. Hope somebody can give me a hint. At first I installed Ubuntu 11.04. Then I followed the instructions here: http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_on_Ubuntu very carefully step by step. (I took the latest version, which was 3.4.1). It looked good all way through, and I think I am almost there. But at the very end, when I try to go to http://127.0.1.1:8080 or http://127.0.1.1, I dont get a login-form. Instead I get the following error-message: Software error: Access denied for user 'kohaadmin'@'localhost' (using password: YES) at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Context.pm line 692. Compilation failed in require at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Auth.pm line 33. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Auth.pm line 33. Anybody knows, what that means? -- Venlig hilsen Lars J. Re: [Koha] Installation problem
In general you are much better off following the instructions that come with the tarball (or git clone) In this case INSTALL.ubuntu. What your error belows means is your kohaadmin user can not connect to the database. You set up that use in mysql eh? Chris On 3 Jun 2011 07:54, Lars J. Thank you - you are the greatest !! :-) .. cause that gave me the hint, where to look. Yes, I had set up MySQL, but the database was called kohadata instead of koha. After creating the database koha using phpmyadmin everything works. -- Venlig hilsen Lars J. If you look here: http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_on_Ubuntu under 7 - Create MySQL Database and grant all privileges to the koha database to the specified user you will see, why I made this mistake. I think this is a general problem in such manuals. For somebody like me, who is not a native English speaker, it is often quiet difficult to realise, which words should be taken literally and which ones should be seen as placeholders for something. -- Venlig hilsen Lars J.
