[kopete-devel] [Bug 133057] New: kopete takes over 1 min to load

http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133057
Summary: kopete takes over 1 min to load
   Product: kopete
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kopete-devel kde org
ReportedBy: mail ernestoruge de

Version: 0.12.2 (using KDE KDE 3.5.4)
Installed from:Ubuntu Packages
OS:Linux

I think its almost all in title: when I load kopete in beginning, it takes much
over 1 min to load although I have a Pentium M 1500. I don't know if its
because of much contacts (over 200) or because of a history getting larger and
larger - if I can test this somehow I would do. Sometimes kopete even crashes
while loading - without any signal, so no KDE crash manager.

Re: [kopete-devel] [RFC] New Plugin: Privacy Plugin

Hi,

Hmm, i don't know either. I'll put it in svn as a plugin, we can still change
it later.

First comments (Didn't test the code)
 - Use radio buttons instead of checkbox. As I read them, the opinions look
independant to me and only one can be applied.

I can't see why I would want to receive all message and block the message
from the black list. This doesn't make sense at all.

Yep, you're right. They should be radio buttons.

 - Use more explicit variable name than l, w, p. This help for the
maintainability in long term and the code is easier to read. This is my
 personal opinion ;)

They are only used for setting up the widget and are not used any further. But
yes, why not.

 - You should reuse the metacontact selection dialog (the one from Change
Metacontact) to select a contact. Using a text input dialog will be prone
to errors. But I guess you used that only for testing :)

 - Use Protocol:AccountID:ContactID string to store the contact information
for the list. Or wait untill we make metacontactId() really unique.

Yes. It's supposed to use contactIDs, because it should be possible to block
users that are not on the contactlist, and thus don't have a metacontact,
too.

The best example I've got when I developed Identity module was this:

I have Duncan on my list on my MSN and Jabber account.
His contactID for both MSN and Jabber is [EMAIL PROTECTED] How can I tell to
which account they belong.

[kopete-devel] SVN compilation error

2006-08-27 Thread Lukáš Jandík
Hello,

I had the problem with --enable-jingle, so I tried compile without
--enable-final, but I have updated to last revision before it and this
happened:

collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
Error creating ../kopete/libkopete/libkopete.la. Exit status 1.
make: *** [all] Error 1

configured with:
./configure --enable-debug=full --enable-jingle --with-xmms
CFLAGS='-march=athlon -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer'
CXXFLAGS='-march=athlon -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer'

doesn't matter if --enable-jingle is present or not
I have compiled kopete dozens of times ago with no errors before, I think
that few days ago it was good

thank you for help

[kopete-devel] [Bug 133097] New: SRV records should be used to find the Jabber server

2006-08-27 Thread Bernhard Schmidt
--- You are receiving this mail because: ---
You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee.

http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133097
Summary: SRV records should be used to find the Jabber server
   Product: kopete
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kopete-devel kde org
ReportedBy: berni birkenwald de

Version: 0.12.2 (using KDE KDE 3.5.4)
Installed from:Ubuntu Packages
OS:Linux

Jabber clients should use SRV lookups to locate their servers. In my case my
Jabber-ID is equal to my mailaddress (berni-at-birkenwald.de). birkenwald.de
has no A/ record (and even if it had, it would point to my webserver to
support http://birkenwald.de, not to the jabber server). The standard way of a
Jabber client would be to use the SRV record _xmpp-client._tcp.domain to locate
the server

$ dig -t srv _xmpp-client._tcp.birkenwald.de +short
5 0 5222 vs02.svr02.mucip.net.

$ host vs02.svr02.mucip.net
vs02.svr02.mucip.net has address 83.170.6.69
vs02.svr02.mucip.net has IPv6 address 2001:1b10:1000:0:2aa:ff:fe00:202

At the current state of Kopete I have to override the default server
information in Kopete. Similar issues arise when using Kopete with GoogleTalk,
as they use the same method to find the chatserver. At the moment you have to
enter talk.google.com manually.
