KR> KR Gathering
Thanks Mark. Pre-registering for shirts, hats, banquet, attendance allows me to order the correct number of each item and allows me to have the caterer prepare the right amount of food for the banquet. I realize some will attend at the last minute, but if you are going to attend, please do us in the KR community the courtesy of RSVPing, it helps in being able to allocate the right amount of funds, which came entirely from the close knit KR community. The plans are coming together nicely for another fantastic, you don't want to miss, National KR Gathering. Put it on your calender, make your pre registration and let's get together for another one of those, you don't want to miss gatherings. See all my old friends here shortly. Sir, You would do well to contact Ed Sterba and tell him what you need. http://www.greatplainsas.com/ed.html ed_ste...@excite.com 1-941-778-3103 That should get you there. KR> Selecting the right Prop
Hi, my name is Peter and I am an ex South African now living in Raleigh, NC. Some three years ago I started building my own aircraft, not a KR but a Waiex and recently got it certified and am now flying off the 40 hours. During my build I met many great people including Steve Bennett, who I know needs now introduction. I had read about Steve's Scat crank with the force one taper hub and large bearing and decided to go with the Scat crank and the force one hub. I am very happy that I did but in doing so I have run into a problem and cannot use any propellers that would have fitted the original Aerovee hub. Tha Aerovee hub has a flat face while the Force one hub has the 2" centering boss in the middle of the hub face. Speaking with Steve, Steve mentioned that the KR group of builders have a prop bank and may be willing to help me out with a loaner prop so that I can try to match a propeller to my setup. I would be glad to make my current Culver propeller available to the group should anyone wish to use it. The original requirement calls for 54 x 44 wood prop and I would like to try propeller in and around this range. Currently, my Culver is 58 x 38. I would be very grateful if you would consider my request. Thank you Peter Waiex N38YX
KR> KR-2 Front Wing Spar Lamination - Corvair Mount - and a question about using fillers
Having built both of my KRs from existing projects where the spars were already built, I cannot tell you what I used to build them, but from what I have read, and what I have used to bond other wood structures in the plane, I suggest T-88. I am offering this as I see you have had no other responses. I have a question about bonding where filler is needed. I have taken the header tank out of the Black Bird, and where it was bonded to the shelf, with way too much flox, some of the plywood laminate pulled up with the flox. I was going to use T-88 here, but want to know if when using filler, it is better to bond using the epoxy. I use AeroPoxy for my glass parts. I am now in the process of changing out my VW engine for my new Corvair engine that Roy built for me. I also had concerns about how to mount it, but if you buy the KR motor mount from William Wynne, then it will almost place itself on the firewall. I know this because I built a mock firewall from the KR plans, and it went right in place, even the William Wynne cowling fit properly, front to back. It will take a little trimming because it is made for a KR2S which is a little wider, but is very flexible and should be very easy to make fit. See N64KR at http://KRBuilder.org - Then click on the pics See you at the 2010 - KR Gathering in Richmond, Ky - I39 There is a time for building and a time for FLYING and the time for Flying has begun. Daniel R. Heath - Lexington, SC -Original Message- I am looking for recommendations as to what type of epoxy are suitable for laminating the forward spars...
