SCAT is the standard on most aircraft installations http://aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/scat.php It's really flexible, and used almost everywhere... SCEET... Well I haven't actually seen it used much (someone else can jump in here) but it's basically SCAT with another layer of silicone that traps the wire... I suppose in really high temp applications, it would be useful... http://aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/sceet.php They are both really flexible (SCAT more so than SCEET). As for the y's, a quick search at AS&S found this... http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/eppages/2diaytube.php I'm sure there are other sizes available. If you can't find some size that you are looking for, I'd be willing to make you something if you like... Contact me off-net. Matt
KR> Flexible Ducting
I just found scat tubing at Wicks and even the Y fitting I'm looking for. I don't really need aviation grade ducting however - this aluminum stuff I've got that looks like dryer duct works fine and I'm thinking if I just knew where I can get it locally (in diameters of 2" and 1½") it will not only be cheaper but also avoids delay and shipping expense. Still looking for help on this . . . Thanks, Mike KSEE Globe Life Insurance $1* Buys $50,000 Life Insurance. Adults or Children. KR> Flexible Ducting
I've got some 2" and even some 1" flexible aluminum tubing used as blast tubes on my engine. Also for carb heat ducting. It's like the dryer ducting that comes from Home Depot except HD and Lowes only have it in large diameters. I'm installing cabin heat and need some of this stuff with a diameter of 2" and 1½". I can't find it on line either. I tried to see what diameters Aircraft Spruce has in scat tubing but their website won't come up with anything whether I call it flexible tubing, scat tubing, duct, etc. Just not my day to be finding this stuff. This is probably expecting too much but I'd also like to find a Y fitting in these diameters. Suggestions anyone? Thanks, Mike KSEE Globe Life Insurance $1* Buys $50,000 Life Insurance. I'm guessing you could have a first class Corvair for about one half the $13,000 they want for the Honda conversion. Better yet, for half the $13,000, you could be running one heck of a good reliable 0-200. Or, for $13,000, I'd consider the 125 hp Franklin, or how about a mid time Continental IO-240 (125 hp, fuel injected) if you could find one. To each his own. Larry Flesner

You will have a seal issue probably. The seals used in automotive applications don't like the 5606 fluid and vice versa. Actually some of the older aircraft used automotive brake fluid instead of 5606.
