KR> wingspan
You can do whatever you want to the verticals in the wing spars, you can extend the stub spars or the outer spars, you can beef up the wing attach fittings, change the wings and wingtips- but I believe prior analysis has shown that the weak point in the whole thing is the connection right at the spar and the fuselage and that is where the maximum moment will occur on a cantilevered wing. Increase the load that the spar has to carry and you need to increase its ability to transfer that moment to or from the fuselage. If you don't, the wings fold up without you asking them to. With the stock wing spar depth and flanges, you simply must respect the designer's stated max gross weight for the aircraft or look for something else to build and fly. Oh, I guess there is also the option of designing a different spar. Somebody shoot me down here... aero engineers, please... I don't own a KR, have never built one, and don't even own a set of plans so I'm not sure what I'm even doing here. Craig, My KR2S has a 25 1/2 foot span because of my added wingtip shape. At 250lbs. you will probably find the cockpit awfully small for you on the KR2. I see that Garry Morgan's KR2SS had a span of 27 feet. Was wondering if anyone stateside had gone this big. The reason I ask is I think to get the useful load for my 250lb frame I need to up the wing span to 27 feet. I would do this by adding 36 inches to the stub wings. KR> AeroPoxy and Micro Mixture
The ratio of Resin to Hardener for AeroPoxy is 1 part Resin to .27 part hardener and this is by weight, which I forgot to mention before. The ratio is the same no matter what you are using it for, Micro, Flox, Fiberglass, Carbon Fiber. It has to be the same. Put your cup on the scale and set it to grams and zero it. Pour in as much resin as you think you will need. Multiply that weight by 1.27. Pour in the hardener until you reach that weight. Stir about 100 strokes and you are ready to use the mixture for whatever you wish. ___ is the racial the same for over the fiberglass?

Yea Craig I had the same concerns. I am 6'-5" and liquid cooled so a stock KR was out of the question from day one. I went with Diehl outer skins and outer spars built to plans. My stub wing was increased a foot on both sides. I used the same spar cap dimensions with more verticals and the addition of a 1/4" plywood laminated to the aft side of the main spar. That won't get me to 27 feet but it will help offset the additional weight that I signed up for. The wingspan on the KR motor glider built by Ken Rand was 27 feet. Mike Turner Edgewood N.M. - Original Message - The wingspan on my KR-2 is 23 feet 3 inches using the Diehl plans and wing skin kit. My weight and balance has a max useful load of 528 pounds and still remains within stable loading. KR> AeroPoxy and Micro Mixture
First, you need to remember to change the subject when you are changing the subject. Your question had nothing to do with "Wingspan". I almost deleted it because I have read enough about wingspan. The ratio for mixing AeroPoxy is 1 resin to .27 hardener. For sealing the foam with the Micro mixture, put in enough Micro to have it pour about like honey. If you get it too thick, it will start rolling up the foam if you get that, just put in a little more epoxy and keep on going. = Hi,i have a gal. Of aeropoxy& a quart of hardner&two pounds of micro ballons, I have to finish my wings, what is the ratial for mixing them?
