KR> 2015 KR Gathering

2015-06-10 Thread Oscar Zuniga
First my disclaimer: I am not building a KR, don't own a KR, don't fly a KR,
and sold my plans some years ago. I'm also not whining here. My point is, I
still love and admire the KR and have as many friends here as I do anywhere
else (maybe more).

I realize that setting up and maintaining a website for a "moving target" event
like the Gathering is a lot of work, especially when somebody hands you the
keys to the site and suddenly it's yours and it has hundreds of lookers and
squawkers like me checking it out. This year it particularly interests me
because the keyboard that I'm typing this email on is only sitting about 170 NM
away so it may be the best shot I'll ever have at getting to a Gathering.

But stay with me here. Go to the 2015 KR Gathering website and navigate around
it and see if you can find the actual dates for the event. Am I missing
something? the www.krnet.org site clearly lists the dates (Sept. 4-5), but
I'll be darned if I can find them on the www.krgathering.com site. Can we add
them to that home page? I'm sure I could figure it out by working the math on
"Only 86 days until the 2015 Gathering!", but why make things hard?

Off soapbox now.

KR> Rudder Stops

2015-06-10 Thread Gary Shubert
The 150/152 rudder stops on the rudder horn was in response to loss of control
issues during training specifically spin training

The original stops were much smaller and could jump over the adjustment stop
resulting in jammed rudder and several deaths

Regarding stress on cables as a former 152 owner I put enough stress on the
rudder stop once In a cross wind landing I should not have attempted that I
bent a pulley bracket

The A&P stated the cable was fine and just repaired the bracket

Looking back on it now maybe he did not want to rerun the rudder

That was my experience
