KR> KT76A and VHF worth?
I just bought a KT76 for 150 and sent it off to transponderrepair.com which cost me another $135. It was fine and now I have a good transponder. You can call them and ask about the mods. I do know that the ACK encoders need to be mod4 or above. Craig > On December 19, 2015 at 7:42 PM Chris Prata via KRnet list.krnet.org> > wrote: > > > Thanks for the input guys. KR> KT76A and VHF worth?
Thanks for the input guys. OK I listed the Icom with tray for $500, but the 76A transponder is confusing. Looking at other ads (with prices all over the map) they often mention "mods" and "high serial number". See the pic, does anyone know what my mods status is and if that serial is high? I would like to ask a fair price. CC: chrisprata at live.com Hi all, I have a working KT76A transponder, and a Icom A-200 VHF, prob not going into my KR1 project (whenever that gets off the ground). Wonder what they are worth? Xpnder last flown 2009, btw. -- next part -- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... KR> KT76A and VHF worth?
Used transponders cost more than they are worth and transceivers can be a problem if not operational.Repair is available but getting harder to find. The transmitter cavity in the transponder can go bad and replacement is more than the unit is worth. For that reason the 40 year old KT-76 I sold was cheap because it is very likely on the edge of oblivion with each turn on.Transponders are tested every 2 years regardless of IFR or VFR operation. The pitot/static system and encoder are tested for accurracy for IFR cert. only. The VFR test doesn't care if the altimeter is correct or not.Your VFR.Tommy W.
