Lee,
Wrap it in glass and the ailerone as well. Mine had to be done. When
tightening the pushrod to ailerone bolt the horn rocked a bit which gave me

KR> The Stall

2008-10-12 Thread Al Friesen
Denny,
Rudder control in my KR2S is not a wing leveler, it can make the result
worse. I have tried rudder at cruise and it will control SMALL deflections
in the wings but not fore long. I use ailerones to keep the wings level,

KR> Oil Pressure - What's Up?

housing, my oil pressure gauge was working perfect. To remove the old
starter mount / housing, I also had to remove the oil sending unit.
Therefor, I disconnected the wire at the sender. I noticed in the mean time
as I was working on my plane, if I turned the ignition to on, the oil
pressure gauge would max out. I think this is normal with the sender
disconnected. Anyway, I reinstalled the sender after I made the new mount /
housing. I then went to attach the wire and twisted the post right off.
Bummer I ordered a new $35 sender and it arrived today. I installed it,
attached the gauge wire, turned the ignition to on and the gauge immediately
maxed out. What's up with that. Is it possible the new sender is bad? Is
there a way to test the sender?

KR> lack of power and over sensitivity

2008-10-12 Thread Al Friesen
All,
After 200 hours with my 2100 Revmaster I need to do the valves. The local
rebuilder says to use Auto high test as the compression is low, the lead in
the avgas is putting deposites on the valve stems as well as the oil. He is
checking the springs and will put on some O rings to limit oil down the
stems. You guys running the Revmaster with a Revflow carb, how are you
mounting it? I have mine the way the engine manual shows.
Th
e fuel enters
on the left side I put a stainless (from firewall material) deflector aft
of the carb throat. This brings the right cyls down in temp.If anybody is
using this deflector change it every annual or 100 hours.

All,
I thought the USA was a low tax area but we in Canada pay one tax ( in the
province of registry) which in my case is 7.5% paid on materials
incorporated in the project as you purchase the parts. We pay a one time
registration fee to the fed of about $175.00. No yearly taxes are assessed.
Nav Canada charges a fee to A/C owners when over the 1200 lbs gross. Some or
all of this info may be full of bs so correct me you canucks. Al

KR>Gathering Roll Call

2008-10-12 Thread Al Friesen
Mark,
I got a call from Colin Cleland 2 days ago and if he can get 2 more guys to
come we will be heading to Red Oak on Monday to arrive by Thursday. I was
intending to go next year but with more people in the van it is
affordable. We will be camping in my motorhome at the airport. Colin will
call me on Saturday to let me know if it is a go. Hope we make it. I have a
construction video, some in flight and photos of my KR.Al

KR>Re: KR Aileron control at low speeds?

2008-10-12 Thread Al Friesen
All,
My KR came as a built unit by Mark Edal. I have inspections dated 1994. He
stretched a KR2 to 16.5' + but kept the KR2 stab and rudder. I can't lift a
wing with rudder as it will increase the drop of the wing. It follows a turn
nicely at 80mph without rudder input. On climbout I put a little rudder
input to keep the ball centered. A little tail wagging is evident on climb
at 80mph. Stall at altitude is very friendly with no buffeting just mushes
along with aileron input. Slips are easy to do but I don't use them on
landing, just do low approaches to reduce speed. I have a landing in
Brandon, Manitoba that showed the sock out straight off the right wing (90*)
and didn't bustup the plane. This is one friendly bird to fly. Al.

Jim,
The ailerons are fine ,just the rudder will not lift a wing. I am not sure
if I can spin this bird and will not try. In all other respects she flies
like my 150 did. Al
