If anyone wants a copy shoot me an email. If you take the KR out of the subject and it will end up in my inbox instead of in the krnet folder. I scanned to 150dpi and the file size is 2.5 and 4MB for the 2 articles which should be easy to email. chris ___ Search the KRnet Archives at http://tugantek.com/archmailv2-kr/search. KR> KR2 and RA-AUS certification
Hi Neville, Alan Middleton in Townsville QLD, Australia ( www.BluewaterAirport.com ). I have a KR2 registered in RA AUS (photo attached). I love flying it and can recommend the aircraft type to anyone, although I stress it is a performance aircraft requiring experience to avoid embarrassment, particularly on landing!! The use of the belly flap allows for the slow landing speed required for RA AUS. I have a ballast container up front under the top cowl cover for use when taking a passenger / baggage to ensure COG remains within limits. Ballast can be up to 20kg for my aircraft depending on passenger weight. Powered by 85hp Jabiru motor. Ph: +61407 356 948. Regards, Alan. KR> KRnet Digest, Vol 1, Issue 152
Hello all, I have recently joined this august group due to my purchase of a KR2 (frame # 2001). I have fitted a new motor (Jabiru 2200 85hp), repaired and tweaked the overall airframe to ensure it is airworthy. I have now flown it for 7.5hrs and have decided the aircraft has many characteristics of a WW2 fighter (ex RAAF FLTLT). Therefore, and to the delight of all the kids that see it, I have painted it in the colours of a P51 Mustang!! The colours will be familiar to Mustang enthusiasts as the colour scheme of the 47th Fighter Squadron, 15th Fighter Group, VIIth Fighter Command, 20th U.S. Army Air Force South Field, Iwo Jima, Kazan Islands, Japan, dated 1945. I wonder if anyone could help me with a few questions I have: 1. What is the preferred CG range for KR2's? 2. What are the frame 'G' limits? 3. What have people found is a successful tail wheel fit out as an alternative to the standard system. The aircraft is fun to fly in every respect EXCEPT the landing roll, especially in a crosswind. I have fitted a Matso 6" as seen in the photo, but have not yet had a chance to test fly it. As soon as I do, I will report back to the group. P.S. The aircraft in the back ground is a beautifully restored Tiger Moth owned by Graeme Atchinson, a local flying identity here in Townsville. I fly the Tiger regularly and can say it is a stable kitten in the ground compared to the KR2!! Thank you all for a marvellous network. You don't know what the CG is until the airplane is completed. If the wheels are too far aft, then will not have enough low speed elevator authority to rotate for take off and for landing; not a problem for KR aircraft. I should have put my main wheels about 2 inches further aft to preclude dumping the tail with a passenger on board and me trying to climb in or out. (Been there, done that.) Sid Wood Tri-gear KR-2 N6242 Mechanicsville, MD, USA Can someone tell me the angle of the main gear legs for a tricycle landing gear , the swept back angle from the spar? I mounted my gear legs and they seem to be angled further aft than what I've seen on other KR's.I haven't measured the distance from the aft side of main spar but I would say 8 to 9 " to the center of the leg where the wheel axle will mount. What is the envelope for either landing gear configuration forward or aft of the C of G plus 5" minus 10"?
