So darn close I'm already getting that KR grin [?] . I've started the painting 
process and will be taking a week off to try to get her finished by the end of 
the month. With that being said, I have a 1966 Cessna 150 in great condition 
that needs a new home, I need the hanger space. More updates to come.

Hey Guys, Just put in another day of cowl shaping. Have I ever mentioned how 
much I have grown to hate sanding, be it shaping foam or the final cosmetic 
sanding ? But on a good note, It's looking pretty darn good this time around.

Hello everyone, It seems to be a little slow on the net so I'll give a quick 
update on my project. All of the plane now has primer on it except for the 
cowl, which is not made yet. 99 percent of the sanding is behind me now and I 
could not be happier ( Sanding sux ). I am looking forward to hanging the o-200 
on this thing, making a cowling and going flying. I know there's more to it 
than that but that's the big stuff.

Dan, you're giving me too much credit regarding "putting a lot of time into 
it"...I was only there for two hours.  I had to leave early due to a line of 
thunderstorms that was about to force me to spend the night at your house. 
In those two hours, I properly set the timing (statically), and  quickly 
declared the electronic ignition dead.  I then ascertained that the spark 
was intermittent, and  suspected the condensor  because it was obviously 
arcing internally while testing (I could hear it from three feet away).  I 
bypassed the coil joiner just in case (your phone message said it was bad, 
but I'm not sure that it is...doesn't jive with testing, and is comprised of 
two big diodes that are "polarity sensitive").

Given that we didn't have time to get a new condensor, and I didn't bring 
one with me (I meant to), I had to leave before the condensor was swapped 
out.  But since you swapped out the condensor AND the reversed polarity on 
the coil (which you assured me was correct) at the same time, I didn't 
pursue it,  knowing that reversing polarity on the coil may slightly affect 
the high RPM performance and the overall life of the plugs, but will work 
fine under all but extreme use.

If the coils were wired in reverse, that explains the fried electronic Crane 
module.  One nanosecond of reversed connection will fry it.  For those who 
are wondering, the red stripe goes to the positive side of the coil, the 
yellow striped one goes to the negative.

What I'm trying to say is that your "divine intervention" may have flown in 
with "N56ML" on the tail!

Some of you know that I took my KR2 out of service over 18 months ago, to
put fuel in the wings and install the Corvair.  The fuel in the wings was
finished several months ago, but I could not get the installation of the
Corvair finished in time for this year's Gathering.  I have been having
trouble getting the engine to start now that the installation is done, and
it has nothing to do with the engine, but, it has everything to do with the
idiot who was doing the installation, me.



Both Matt Elder and Mark Langford spent a lot of their time trying to solve
the mystery and earlier this week, I got an email from WW offering to come
up and help me find the problem.  However, today, I must have gotten some
divine intervention.  I could not stop the thought in my head that I should
check the polarity on the coils, even though I knew which side was which.  I
installed the coils between the shelves, that made it so you could not see
the marking on the coil, but I knew which side was + and which was -, but I
just had to check even though I tried all known methods of distraction to
keep from going through the required contortions to loosen the bolts to
remove them.



So upon discovery that the idiot had struck again, I re-oriented the coils
so I can see the markings and made my own markings on the coils and the
shelf under which they are installed.  I re-connected everything and it
fired off on the first blade.  It continues to run great as long as I hold
in the primer button, but won't run on the carb.  Sending the carb back to
Ellison on Monday, overnight, to see what dumb thing I inadvertently did to
it.  I spent about 30 minutes on the phone with Ben Ellison today and he is
just as stumped as me.



This is not a show stopper and I still plan to be at Corvair college in
November.

on my next project a KR2SS, Now I can tackle the turtle deck and I will have

Hey Guys, A little update. After spending the last week trying to put a slick 
finish on the stub and main wings, I have a lot more respect for those who have 
completed a KR. I have also decided that my next plane will be something other 
than a composite, perhaps tube and fabric. Don't worry about me giving up this 
late in the game, I can almost see the finish line from here. More updates to

Anybody been making progress on a KR lately? With the economy the way it is,I 
have been putting in about 13 hours a day at work. During the day all I think 
about is getting home to work on the plane but after going full bore all day 
it's tuff to get started when I get home. I am still working on the canopy and 
expect to have it finished in 2 weeks. Great, Now I've put a deadline out there

HI everyone,
I just finished putting the third coat of smooth -prime on the bottom of my KR2 
. This marks the completion of the retrofit to the fixed gear (Fuselage mount, 
spring gear from great plains,).
This stuff is great to work with and sands very well, to bad it is so expensive.
I made my mounting brackets from 6x8x1/2" , 6061 extruded alum. angle (X3) and 
doublers on the forward part of the spar to clear the cross member on the front 
of the spar. I cut three 4x6" holes in the floor , and used the original holes 
on the spar for mounting the angle brackets.
With her on her back I did the alignment of the spring gear, and used the 
original holes for mounting to the brackets. I then cut a foam wedge and 
glassed it in to the bottom of the fuselage to flair in the leading edge of the 
gear.
Filling the holes from the original gear was a lot of sanding but straight 
forward, and now you could never tell it had retracts.
I plan on top coating the belly before I put her back on her gear,as to not 
have to do it on my back, but to also have it done, and allow me to concentrate 
on the top.
