KR> New engine

2016-05-03 Thread JMelvin106 at aol.com
This little engine has been racing since 2012 when it ran it's first race
at Le Mans. It was started in 56th position, the place granted to new
technology vehicles not allowed to race for points. It has raced most all IMSA
and Le Mans races since. It has been through several iterations since it
first set wheels on a race track, starting as an open cockpit to the current
coupe version finally doing well last season and is doing quite well so far
this season. Last weekend it placed 5th overall at Laguna Seca. It is racing
with the prototype class cars in a special design they call the delta wing
car. Unfortunately It is currently an unclassified prototype so even if it
wins a race it can't collect points for driver or manufacturer.

KR> New engine

2016-05-03 Thread bhollensbe at mchsi.com

Nissan announced this lightweight engine with great fan fare in early 2014. It
develops its power in a narrow band around 7000 rpm. It was designed for
racing. Shortly afterwards, Nissan ran into 'developmental issues' and the
engine did not run in the 2015 La Mans as promised. Nothing has been heard or
seen of it since.

Robin,

I'll but if you could get hold of one of those and bring it to the
Gathering this year, we could come up with the cost of your flight.
:-) I might even trade my KR for one of those.

2008-10-12 Thread Lee Van Dyke
Netters,

I would like to start this post by thanking Steve Glover, and Richard Shirley.
My wife and I took off on Friday, the day after Turkey day. It was also her
birthday. We drove 400 miles across the desert to go to Steve Glovers house.
We spent Friday night at Steve and his fiances house. Saturday we went out to
see some of the sights of Luguna Beach. We had a great time. Saturday night
we headed over to Richards house to pick up my engine. Richard was able to
complete the rebuild for me. He did alot of extra work and replaced the cam.
Wow what service. We took Steve, Elizabeth, Richard and his wife out for
dinner and had a great time. My wife thanked me several times for giving her a
great weekend. Wow what a wife. The engine looks great. I can't wait to put
it in the plane. I will be going from an 1835 60hp to 2387 90 hp clime???
Speed?? I was out with my repaired 1835 Wednesday @ 2160 RPM @ 135-137 mph.
gps with no wind in a big flat circle. Not bad. With the new engine 160+

Lee,

What did he do to get a 2387? Is this a type 1 or a type 4? What a deal,
it will be great to hear what kind of speed you get with that one. What
Carb are you going to run with it?

Interesting, but in the fine print it says constant speed operation.
One would need a variable pitch prop with a LARGE range.
