On Android, touch the reply arrow like always. Then touch the small up
arrow, top right of the reply box. This will show you the quoted text. Now,
touch and hold your finger on the first part of the block of quoted text
until a selection bar pops up. Touch "select all". Start typing our hit
the back space key to get rid of everything selected. You're done.

FYI: This is important. Gmail automatically hides all the previous replies
for you. That's ok, click reply like you always do but then click the small
rectangle at the bottom of the reply box. This will show you all that has
gone before you. Press Ctrl-A to highlight everything in the box and type
your reply. All that highlighted data will be replaced by what you type.

I'm with Mark on this one. It is incredibly frustrating to see people
continually ignore his very simple request.

Trim your replies.

It is that simple.

That means do not put your reply text at the top of the message and
leave the entire message below it.

Every single person that replied to his message before me did exactly
opposite to what he is asking.

Why?

Google doesn't even show me the quoted replies. This could very well
be a "your client problem." Or maybe "the big client doesn't make
life easy for your client".

Yes, trimming replies is proper. But, at least for me, on gmail, that
requires me "going and finding" the quoted replies.

Also note, I didn't say he was wrong in what he was saying. He's just
~very~ wrong in how he said it.

said "put the letter in the subject area". That would make it easy on

And I KNOW this is asking way too much of people that are apparently
smart enough to be building airplanes, but the list rules also ask that
you delete the vast majority of the previous post before replying, which
would mean (in this case) ALL of it, because the SUBJECT tells the whole
story. But that would assume you'd actually READ the post before you
replied to 800 people!

I can't believe how incredibly dense some folks are. It's a very simple

KR> poll on revival of McCulloch 4318 engines .

2011-06-12 Thread jtw...@aol.com

Thank you for taking the time to reply. So far, we have had only one (1!)
builder who - - for no given reasons - - asked to be "counted out" as far as
the Mac 72 engine revival was concerned. Otherwise, the interest shown has
been almost overwhelming; we have even received notes-of-inquiry from folks who
have heard of our posting but are they themselves not yet even on the KRnet!

We agree with your comments: engine concerns seem to be the paramount glitch
in home building experimental flying machines.

We also agree with your concept of "stackable" components. We have done quite
a bit of research on the rotary [not 'radial'] Wankel-type engines. The
stacking protocol is already being used with the Wankels, and we have seen
several such engines that were built-up using three (3) rotors, quite
successfully. We have heard of more units being 'stacked' but there seem to be
problems. [A fairly good number of (very!) used rotary engines seem to be
available in automotive junk/salvage yards, the engines having come from Mazda
automobiles and Suzuki motorcycles.]

Again, thanks for your reply.

KRnetHeads,

Please visit http://www.kr2forum.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=565#565 on the
forum to vote on whether or not to move the KRnet list to the new forum or
leave the email list like it is. There are 185 users on the new forum, but
over 600 on the email list. That tells me that a whole bunch of people
haven't even signed up for the forum yet. You'd need to do that in order to
vote, and of course to even form an opinion! This vote is sort of
non-binding, as I reserve the right to make the final decision anyway, but I
want to know what the prevailing winds are, at least...

KR> Poll - KRnet email list or new forum?

2008-10-12 Thread michaela
Mark et al.

I am glad your decision will not be based completely on the voting results.
Given that voting requires forum membership, the results are likely to have a
bias built in. It would not be as easy to tabulate, but a more valid voting
procedure would allow krlist members to vote without forcing forum
membership... Of course, encouraging membership may be part of the
objective?...

My two-cents... The list and/or the forum can/willl be valuable resources for
KR enthusiasts for the reasons many of you have already pointed out. There are
pros and cons to both. If forced to choose one or the other, my guess is most
of us will go wherever the available information is. Personally, to me it
seems too early to shut down the list, given that membership is so much higher.
That said, it might also be useful to gain a sense of how many of the 600+
current list members are active, regular readers.

The only information you have to know is your username (you make that up),
your password (you make that up too), and your email address (I sure hope
you know that one), and the confirmation code that keeps spambots from
taking over the place. Everything else is optional. It says at the very
beginning "items marked with a * are required, unless stated otherwise".
The ICQ and AIM stuff is optional (as is everything else in that lower box),
and you don't have to put a thing in there to be able to register. The only
other question you have to answer is "are you over 13 years old", and I feel
sure most of us could handle that one as well. You might want to change the
time zone if it's not right, and for you it's probably GMT -5 hours. It's
not that tough, really...

You can use whatever username and password you want (as long as it's not
taken and meets some minimum critera), whereas with the mailing list it must
be your email address. The two are not connected, so you certainly must
"register" to use the forum in any capacity other than just reading posts.
I don't know that email addresses work for usernames on the forum, but they
might.

KR> Poll - KRnet email list or new forum?

2008-10-12 Thread Mark Langford
NetHeads,

Before we have a meltdown over this, I'll tell you that the email list isn't
going away. I approached the forum thing with an open mind, and it does
bring some new capability to the KRnet group, but I don't think it can
replace the email list for reasons I mentioned on the forum. The voting
agrees. Right now it looks like we keep the email list as the primary
vehicle for KR info, and keep the forum for posting pictures and for sale
stuff, and special topics like Dana's trip out West (that'll keep us from
having to go to Yahoo or somewhere to discuss slightly off-topic stuff).
The vast majority of the "pillar" builders and pilots that have emailed me
agree. I don't know that I want to or even can keep folks from carrying on
conversations on the forum, but it's clear to me that the "braintrust" is
going to be on the email list. At least now nobody can complain that they
can't post pictures, because the forum allows that capability.

This debate has sort of gotten out of hand. Several folks have unsubscribed
in the last few days, notably Ken Cottle (an early KR builder and pilot) who
joined a few weeks ago and apparently was unimpressed with the lack of real
KR discussion. So let's get back to KRs, please...

FW: KR> Poll - KRnet email list or new forum?

2008-10-12 Thread Karl
I think that is not a good way to look the issue. I have registered and had
a look around, so I can make an informed decision and voted

There are 4 answers being offered, if you do not go on line and vote don't
complain about the result later.

KR> Poll - KRnet email list or new forum?

2008-10-12 Thread countryhomeprint
As I told Mark J, I made it easy so as not to embarass anyone. There are
others out there (though not dumb as I am) who do not know the initials
either. They do not want to embarass themselves by not expressing
themselves. Give me a hint, what do the initials stand for.

KR> Poll - KRnet email list or new forum?

2008-10-12 Thread Phil Matheson
I had no problems getting into the forum, but once I started to find my way
around, it seemed like a complete waste of time, it seem to take forever to
switch from one section to another. I think the KRnet is by far better.

my 2 cents worth.

Yeah, but once you've read them all or looked at them, then the next time
you come back just click on "veiw post since last visit" and it takes you
only to the new one's.
