KR> Turn back altitude - in a KR
For KR Pilots about flying the KR, ONLY, please. I am participating in the Flight Advisor" program. One of the things that it asks you to think about is the altitude at which it will be safe to turn back to the runway. How many feet do you loose during a 270 degree turn, and at what altitude do you recommend as a go-nogo turn back altitude, AGL? Thanks, See N64KR at http://KRBuilder.org - Then click on the pics See you in Mt. Vernon - 2006 - KR Gathering There is a time for building and a time for FLYING and the time for building is OVER. In my KR2, turn back 1 up is possible at 500' with no obstacles, 2 up I wouldn't try it below 700', again with no obstacles. Though this is all limited information because when you need to make that discission there will be other facts that will influence your discission. Having recently crashed in a paddock I may be "more" tempted to try and return to the airfield. BUT knowing that most return to the airfield discissions result in a crash I would only turn back if there were other options, paddocks, in case I had miss judged it, otherwise I will take my chances ahead, in a paddock at my airfield (I walked away from the last one, so I am happy) Regards Barry Kruyssen Cairns, Australia k...@bigpond.com http://www.users.bigpond.com/kr2/kr2.htm -Original Message- From: krnet-boun...@mylist.net [mailto:krnet-boun...@mylist.net] On Behalf Of Dan Heath Sent: Thursday, 6 July 2006 10:59 AM To: kr...@mylist.net Subject: KR> Turn back altitude - in a KR For KR Pilots about flying the KR, ONLY, please. Dan, Like a couple others have said it will be on an individual plane and take off situation. I have looked at my climb and location on virtually every take off. I don't believe that my altimeter is caught up with my actual climb altitude, but for me at my home field 400' is my absolute min altitude. At that altitude I am still over the approach end of the runway overrun area. I would no doubt over run the far end of the run way on it's 3000'. If I am below 400' on either direction of my home airport I am most likely to be in the trees anyway going straight ahead.. Joe Horton, Coopersburg, PA. joe.kr2s.buil...@juno.com
