KR> cruising
Guys, What a great way to fatten the old log book. Promoting the gospel of the KR and the corvair engine. Took a little trip down the Delmarva coast into Virginia and meet a future KR builder. I tried to be honest about build times and power plants, and yet not contain the thrill of it all. It was a great little trip and back into work by 11:30 am with 3 more hours and a 400 mile round trip. Best part made a new friend in Randy Powell of Va. Keep building those engines and planes- There is more thrills out there than I can use up ;-) Joe Horton, Coopersburg, PA. joe.kr2s.buil...@juno.com
KR> cruising
Today I had the honor to meet Joe Horton. I cannot believe he took the time to too fly 200 miles to show a complete stranger a beautiful aircraft. This just blew me away, as did his aircraft. Joe's plane shows excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail. Joe answered the usual 100 questions and allowed me to try it on for size. ( YEP IT FITS ) . Everyone wanted to know why I was smiling so much at work today. If Joe is, as I suspect, truly representative of KR builders and pilots, then they are a special breed. His aircraft even sounds as great as it looks. When departing he made a low pass, at somewhat higher than usual pattern speeds , down the runway. It sounded like a P51, SWEET !. Now I have to go write a check for plans. Many thanks Joe. I Hope you fly many happy hours in your bird. Randy Powell Wachapreague Va. randywpow...@verizon.net - Original Message - From: "Joseph H. KR> Cruising Altitudes - near miss
Mark, when cruising west from 180 deg to 359 deg magnetic, you should be at even thousand feet plus 500ft. When cruising east from 0 to 179 deg magnetic, you should be at odd thousand feet plus 500ft. VFR rules applies above 3000 AGL and below 18,000ft MSL. KR> Cruising Altitudes - near miss
I am glad you qualified that at the end, because IFR ops do NOT add 500, and they fly at pressure altitude above FL180 (set 29.92 in the Hobbs). Always check local Sectionals and Terminal Area Charts for variations in different regions. Florida does not observe the East & West altitude adjustments although to file any Flight Plan you still use it. They will normally re-assign you to an altitude for separation based on North and South, odd South and even North since most traffic is flying North and South. Check local areas for these kinds of possible variations. Some are charted, and some only appear in Notams. -Original Message- From: krnet-boun...@mylist.net [mailto:krnet-boun...@mylist.net]On Behalf Of M & C Sent: Monday, August 07, 2006 10:59 AM To: krnet Subject: KR> Cruising Altitudes - near miss Mark, when cruising west from 180 deg to 359 deg magnetic, you should be at even thousand feet plus 500ft.
