[Bug 1460545] Re: Packages for KDE4.14.3 are not ready
FYI: Qt-backport request was done nearly 1(!) year ago - bug #1355694. @Kornel: be warned – the mentioned PPA (contains Qt 4.8 already) did _not_ work for me. Had to purge it from command-line with ppa-purge in the virtual-terminal. For my understanding this has, as many things in life, two sides. Simultaniously to the issuing 4.13.3 a new branch of KDE-SC was split in KDE Framework/KDEApplications (KF5.x/4.14.x) released. See the stady flow here: https://community.kde.org/KDE_SC/Binary_Packages This actually meant a lot of additional work (triple load?) for our (if I may say so) Kubuntu-Team. They had to split up their energy which is harsh job taking into account a low number of developers. I personally am _very_ grateful for all the work that's done by the volunteers. On the other side the update was already announced: http://www.kubuntu.org/news/kde-sc-4.13.3 (dated 12.2.2014) won't find it here: https://community.kde.org/KDE_SC/Binary_Packages#KDE_SC_4.13.3 @Scarlett: Thanks for assigning on this task. Even though I'm getting a glimpse of understanding of all the work that's done quietly I do understand that most of us users would love to see the bugfixes arrive in an LTS. But it's also marvellous to see how fast KF5 evolves. [Bug 1480363] Re: GCC is not installed by default in Kubuntu 15.10 Alpha 2
I know that GCC is a compiler but usually when I install a linux distro (Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Manjaro) on VirtualBox I have no problem to install virtualbox guest additions. But on Kubuntu 15.10 x64 Alpha 2 VirtualBox Guest Additions says that it can't be installed because GCC is not installed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kubuntu-meta in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1480363 Title: GCC is not installed by default in Kubuntu 15.10 Alpha 2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kubuntu-meta/+bug/1480363/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1480363] Re: GCC is not installed by default in Kubuntu 15.10 Alpha 2
I just tried Kubuntu 15.04 and you are right gcc is not installed. Maybe it was on Netrunner that I didn't need to install gcc. I tried Ubuntu and gcc, and everything VirtualBox Guest Additions need if it need something else, is installed by default. Maybe it's a good idea to provide gcc (and everything VirtualBox Guest Additions need if it need something else) by default to ease the installation in a VM ?
