I opened a new report in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1829404

Please join that bug report if you still suffer from this (like I do).

[Bug 1612753] [NEW] drkonqui does not suggest debug packages

2016-08-12 Thread Manuel López-Ibáñez
Public bug reported:

Okular crashes, drkonqui launches, after a few clicks, the backtrace is
not useful. The dialog says: "install the needed packages and click
Reload". However, the list of files:

/usr/bin/okular
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQtCore.so.4
/usr/lib/libokularcore.so.7
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQtGui.so.4
/usr/lib/libkdeui.so.5
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQtDBus.so.4
/usr/lib/kde4/okularpart.so

These are no packages. The user is at a loss about what packages they
need to install. What is the point of launching drkonqui at all?

[Bug 1586837] Re: unlabeled tick-marks in Networks tray window

2016-05-29 Thread Manuel López-Ibáñez
Why ubuntu-bug allows me to report bugs for packages I don't even have
installed?

Since bugs are reported to launchpad now and not bugs.kde.org, is it worth it
at all?
Do any KDE/Kubuntu devs look at bugs in launchpad.net ?

[Bug 1582294] [NEW] Icons-only task manager in plasma 5 too small icons, ugly rectangles, no minimized indicator, no multiple windows indicator

2016-05-16 Thread Manuel López-Ibáñez
Public bug reported:

The icons-only task manager widget in plasma 5 (Kubuntu 16.04) has
regressed in several aspects with respect to the version in 14.04.

Icons are now tiny compared with the "quick launcher" widget. Rectangles
around the icons take space and are not useful because they do not give
any information about the minimized state of the application. There is
now no indicator that a single icon represents multiple windows. Windows
asking for attention do not flash/highlight anymore.

[Bug 1582281] [NEW] plasma compositor only works with XRender (flickering; artifacts; repaint; scren update issues)

2016-05-16 Thread Manuel López-Ibáñez
Public bug reported:

After a fresh install of Kubuntu 16.04. The default settings of the
compositor lead to flickering, screen artifacts, screen repaint/update
issues. All compositor settings except XRender show similar issues.
XRender however is much slower and have fewer effects than those
available in Kubuntu 14.04.

Workaround: If you have an ATI/AMD Radeon/fglrx video card that is
working with Kubuntu 14.04, test with the live version before updating
to 16.04!

[Bug 60448] Re: .xsession-errors file grows out of control & saturates disk space

2015-02-01 Thread Manuel López-Ibáñez
Someone already did, and it is called journald:
http://0pointer.net/blog/projects/journalctl.html
Recent versions of gdm, kdm and dbus already use the journald by default to
replace .xsession-errors, and thus avoid all these problems. I guess we only
have to wait for Ubuntu to catch up to Fedora and OpenSuse. (I don't know about
CentOS, but it unavoidable that journald will be the default there eventually)

The only work-around I found is to kill it completely and restart. Then,
it works fine.

[Bug 1073071] [NEW] vlc cannot disable power management features

2012-10-30 Thread Manuel López-Ibáñez
Public bug reported:

When playing a video in VLC in Kubuntu, the power management dims and
eventually turns off the screen, even when connected on AC power. This
is with default settings.

VLC has an option to "Inhibit power management daemon during playback",
which is one by default.

According to VLC developers, KDE4 broke xdg-utils compatibility:
https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/5957

This is a known issue affecting multiple users:

[Bug 791998] Re: when switching to second monitor, panel is too short and dark

2011-10-03 Thread Manuel López-Ibáñez
It would be nice if apport didn't allow to fill bugs that are going to
be automatically closed as invalid. This will save everybody some
precious time to dedicate to other things.
