[Bug 1741767]

2020-11-19 Thread Mitch Golden
Are people still seeing this? I do not observe this behavior on Kubuntu
20.10 with muon 5.8.0. Could it have been a packaging issue just on
Neon?

[Bug 1399855] Re: kwin_x11doesn't stop after logout

2014-12-06 Thread Mitch Golden
More info. I logged in as myself, then created a brand-new user foo. I
logged out and logged in as foo. My kwin_x11 was not running, but for
some reason my process was. (See image)

I did nothing else (other than open the terminal, but I know from other
trialls that this is not necessary to see the kwin_x11 hang) and logged
out.

Then I logged in as mgolden again. In this case both the
/usr/bin/kuiserver5 and the kwin_x11 were both running - the latter
pagging as always.

This demonstrates that it has nothing to do with something in my son's
home directory.

[Bug 1399855] [NEW] kwin_x11doesn't stop after logout

2014-12-05 Thread Mitch Golden
Public bug reported:

I have a vintate 2001 System 76 Laptop. It is possibly of relevance that I
have an nvidia 560M graphics card and am running the
nvidia proprietary driver, legacy version 304. I have installed the 14.10
plasma 5 test DVD on it.

Both my son and I have accounts. Both of us are able to log in and use
the machine. However, if he uses it - and doesn't even have to do
anything - when he logs out the process kwin_x11 does not end. In fact,
after I log in, it continues to run and pegs one of the cores. It does
not die unless killed -9.

[Bug 1399855] Re: kwin_x11doesn't stop after logout

2014-12-05 Thread Mitch Golden
I note that the reverse situation does not result in the same problem.
If I log in and then log out, kwin_x11 does not hang. The main
difference between him and me is that I am a sudoer and he is not (he is
6 years old!) and I have configured my plasma (for example to use the
classic K menu) while his is more or less what is out of the box.

** Attachment added: logged in as mgolden, there is a kwin_x11 still running
as user dario. (There is also one running as mgolden)

[Bug 131893] konqueror metabar is invisible

2007-08-11 Thread Mitch Golden
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdebase

When I open the metabar in Konqueror, I see the KDE theme with the
gears, but no information is displayed. When I right click and select
reload theme, I can see what appears to be the information in the

[Bug 124976] System Settings - Monitor Display won't set hardware type

2007-07-09 Thread Mitch Golden
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kde-guidance

I installed Kubuntu i386 Gutsy Tribe 2 on a Sony Vaio PCG-XG19. I did
the install in safe graphics mode, and so when I was done the system had
vesa as the driver in xorg.conf (is that supposed to happen?)

At any rate, once the system was installed, I I tried to change the
hardware type using System Settings - Monitor and Display - Hardware
tab. While it correctly detected my chipset and claimed it would apply
the changes, I saw no change in /etc/X11/xorg.conf. I tried several
times to change the hardware using this, but it never did anything that
I could detect.

[Bug 123914] KNetworkManager doesn't initially connect to wired network

2007-07-03 Thread Mitch Golden
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: knetworkmanager

I just found this in Gutsy Alpha 2. Networkmanager / KNetworkmanger
worked fine in Feisty and even Gutsy alpha 1. Gutsy alpha 2 has
KNetworkManager 0.2 so it may have something to do with that.

When I log in to the system, I have no connection, and the icon shows
disconnected. I need to manually select the wired network for it to
connect, and then it works.

It may be the same as this bug, but that one is closed so I am
resubmitting this:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/105234

I have an old Sony Vaio PCG-XG19, and I have a Xircom cardbus PCMCIA
