It's one of a group of 4 modes. RID_SVXITEMS_ROTATE_MODE_STANDARD,
RID_SVXITEMS_ROTATE_MODE_TOP, RID_SVXITEMS_ROTATE_MODE_CENTER and
RID_SVXITEMS_ROTATE_MODE_BOTTOM.

To see where that group is used, in calc use the style pane and right
click a cell style and modify. Choose the "Alignment" tab and there are
three options for "Reference Edge" if you select the non-default, e.g.
"Text Extension Inside Cell" and go to the organizer tab then the
"Contains" section will use the text of
RID_SVXITEMS_ROTATE_MODE_STANDARD "Rotation only within cell"

I don't see a specific UI element to choose the 4th
RID_SVXITEMS_ROTATE_MODE_CENTER variant that you specifically mention
but it looks like it's possible to import documents that use it, in
which case I'd expect that text to be shown in the organizer tab of a
style that uses it like the rest of the family.

I have to start the search again for the next instance to change.
If there are a lot items to changes this way is very time consuming.
Is there another way to make this easier?

Did you try to middle-click the link to open it in a new tab ?

Note the /generic/, that mapping nowadays is only used with the
SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen backend.

Indeed, my change works as expected if I use the gen backend.

All modern frameworks like gtk3 and even gtk2 already come with their
own key name mapping. The LibreOffice internal key code is converted to
the current backend's framework key code and for that the key name is
obtained.

Ok, so I can close bug 126999 as NotOurBug.

Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Why translate OpenType feature long names?

Hi all translators,

I think it is a bad idea to make long names of OpenType typographic
features translatable because these long names are like keywords and
need a long sentence to explain what they mean. Without these
explanations long names are not understandable and may induce errors.
For example "Half Widths" is only applicable to East-Asian tetragrams.

So you need operating instructions such as

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_typographic_features#OpenType_typographic_features
to be able to use these typographic features and this page is available
only in English. So I think it is easier for the user to search the
right long name in this webpage and use automatic translation tool to
understand associated explanation if she does not read English.
If we translate long names it will be very difficult for the end-user to
return to the original English long name to be able to find its
explanation.

So I suggest to make these long names untranslatable.

Hi,

Strong -1 from me. By the same logic, all software localization is
pointless because everyone can "use automatic translation tool to
understand" what the various menu commands, buttons, icons, etc. do.

Well, did you find a description of these OpenType typographic features
in another language than English? How do you do to find the meaning of a
feature long name if you do not have the real long name in English ?

My point is not, automatic translation is available so translation in LO
is not necessary. My point is that, in this particular case, translation
make things more obscure instead of more clear. Here feature long names
are keywords making a link between the command name and the description
of the feature. Translating these long names breaks this link.

[libreoffice-l10n] Errors in help found in Pootle

 Contexte : protection.xhp par_id3151189 help.text
 Emplacements : protection.xhp
 KeyID : AAopu

String: For whole table, right-click on the table in the Navigator, and
choose Table - Unprotect in the context menu or select the
whole table and choose Tools - Unprotect
Cells in menu bar.

Unprotect Cells is not in the Tools menu but in Table menu.

2)
Comment LCgmo. It says "Lists the LibreOfficeDev program and any open
LibreOfficeDev document. Within this list, select the location where you
want to save the macros." But it is about selecting a macro to be
assigned to an event. I guess "save the macros" should be changed in
"pick the macro".

3)
Comment M3zv5. It says "The title of this page is Insert address
block for letters and Select address list for e-mail
messages."

In fact the title is the same in both cases : "Insert Address Block"

Is it because "[Runtime]" is seen as a placeholder? If affirmative, you
may silence it by clicking on the red (-) sign in the top right of the
string area. False positives are very frequent in pootle+LibreOffice.

Thank you Olivier. In fact when I validate my translation by ctrl+Enter,
Pootle change the background color of the text area to orange (instead
of blue when Pootle is happy with my translation or red when it find an
syntax error) and stay there instead of jumping to the next string. It
does not show the error icon (red (-)). I discovered that Pootle has
however accepted my translation and that I can force it to jump to the
next string.

If I go back to the problematic string, now I see the error icon and I
can desactivate the placeholder check.

[libreoffice-l10n] Pootle: how too manage the many false positives?

2016-07-31 Thread Jean-Baptiste Faure
Hi,

For example in the Help sbasic/shared.po, I have 432 critical errors but
all involve placeholders and are probably false positive because Pootle
see an error each time it see a % sign in a translated string.

As an example: string wwiFk in
https://translations.documentfoundation.org/fr/libo_help/translate/sbasic/shared.po#unit=29681468
"file:///C|/My%20File.sxw" is translated in French as
"file:///C|/Mon%20Fichier.sxw".

Other examples are the strings [Runtime] very common in the Basic help.
Here [Runtime] is not a placeholder and is translatable but Pootle see a
critical error if I translate it.

As it is not possible to tell Pootle that a given string is really
correct, trying to correct the errors detected by Pootle is an endless
and discouraging work.

Best regards.

[libreoffice-l10n] is a valid xml tag?

2016-07-31 Thread Jean-Baptiste Faure
Hi,

in the string jKbn9 in
https://translations.documentfoundation.org/fr/libo_help/translate/scalc/guide.po#unit=108741441
there is a tag , if I keep this tag Pootle detects
a "valid xml" error and if I remove it it detects an "xml tag" error
which means, if I am not wrong, that my translation does not have the
same xml tags as the reference string.

I guess this tag is erroneous, am I right? At least this tag could be a
closing tag but there isn't any corresponding opening tag.

[libreoffice-l10n] How to find where a given string is used in the UI

2016-06-12 Thread Jean-Baptiste Faure
Hi,

Given a string to be translated, given its tag (comment), how to find
where it is used in the UI (in which menu or dialog box)?
The path UI -> the string in Pootle is easy with the keyID, but, to my
knowledge, there is no easy way to find a keyID in the UI.

What is your strategy to find a given string in the UI?

[libreoffice-l10n] Classification : "export control"

2016-06-12 Thread Jean-Baptiste Faure
Hi Miklos, all,

In the classification new feature we have the string "export control"
(comment dqv34) that comes after "Intellectual property". What does mean
"export" here? Export to another file format or export to another country?

Best regards.

[libreoffice-l10n] Draw/Impress : shape text

2016-05-28 Thread Jean-Baptiste Faure
Hi,

In Draw and Impress UI we have several strings "Shape Text" in the file
libo_ui/officecfg/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/UI.po. As the
meaning is not obvious for me, I try to get the context of this string
each time I have to translate it. At the moment I did not success to
find a single occurrence of this string in the UI.

For example we have an occurrence in DrawWindowState.xcu with the
comment fQedT

Does somebody know where this string is used ?

Best regards.

[libreoffice-l10n] MAXIFS and MINIFS

2016-05-19 Thread Jean-Baptiste Faure
Hi,

In the UI, file libo_ui/sc/source/ui/src.po. It's me or there is an
copy&paste mistake from MINIFS to MAXIFS in the descriptions on
arguments of the MAXIFS function. Indeed each description says "minimum
value" when "maximum value" seems to be expected. In the function
wizard, read the description for range1, range2, etc.
The corresponding string has the comment cEi2r.

Best regards.

[libreoffice-l10n] About Calc function FORECAST_ETS_ADD

2016-05-08 Thread Jean-Baptiste Faure
Hi,

Trying to translate UI for FORECAST_ETS_ADD function, I read its online
help to understand what this function does.

In the help we have
"The time line values must have a consistent step between them."
and
"If a constant step can't be identified in the sorted time line, the
functions will return the #NUM! error."

So I wonder if the correct word in the first sentence is not "constant"
instead of "consistent".
In the UI (string YD83z) the word "consistent" is used too.

Can somebody confirm or infirm the correct use on "consistent". If it si
confirmed, what does mean "a consistent step" in this case?

Best regards.

I am afraid that "it works as a function above" would be incorrect. Why
"a" function?

[libreoffice-l10n] What does mean "Search Formatted Display String"

2015-11-12 Thread Jean-Baptiste Faure
Hi,

The string "Search Formatted Display String" is not clear for me.

This string must be translated two times:

in tbunosearchcontrollers.src RID_SVXSTR_FINDBAR_SEARCHFORMATTED string.text
Comment: AqBA9
libo_ui/svx/source/tbxctrls.po Unit #100861092

and as "Search formatted display string" in
findreplacedialog.ui searchformatted label string.text
Comment: ihU4u
libo_ui/svx/uiconfig/ui.po Unit #100861184

This second string is in the Find & Replace dialog for Calc and does not
have an extended tooltip nor explanation in the help page.

I do not see any difference if checked or or not.

Could it be be possible to improve error detection by Pootle ?
For example if the number of pairs " " are not identical in
the reference text and the translated text it is seen as XML errors of
the same level as not closed xml tags or misspelled tags. And if you
want to keep the same number of pairs of " " in help texts,
the French translation you get is often not clear.
That makes translation's reviewing very painful.

Ah ok, thank you. The underlining red waves look different from the ones
use by the spellchecker in Firefox.

Sincerely, I think that fdo#67093 + fdo#67031 + fdo#67041 will make LO
4.1.0.3 very difficult to defend. I am afraid that for many users, even
power users and testers, the message will be: don't use LO 4.1.0 and
wait for LO 4.1.1. Not sure it is that we want.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

No the problem is not there AFAIK. I only said that I do not have such
localization problems with the generic Linux version. So the problem
have to be solved on the Ubuntu side, not on the LibreOffice side.

The problem is not a LibreOffice issue but an Ubuntu issue in the way
Ubuntu packages its own LO version and, perhaps, manages the
localization of others softwares provided by the distribution.

Indeed the vanilla version of LibreOffice is not affected by this
defect. I just tried to install the en_us help package for my
LibreOffice 3.6.4 FR version on my Ubuntu 12.04 (x86-64 FR). Now I can
switch between UI+Help in French and UI+Help in English. If I choose the
French UI then the Help is in French, and if I choose the English UI
then the Help is in English.

In my own build of LibreOffice 4.0.0.1+ too, I do not reproduce this
problem, I have UI+Help in French and in English (en_us) as expected.

So, if the problem is on the Ubuntu side, the solution is on Ubuntu side
too.

Best regards.

Indeed. But they use the dot as decimal separator and date separator. So
there is a conflict if you type 1.2 in a cell.

Hi Eike,

I think for fr_FR we need "D/M".

It depends on several conditions: your hardware, the use of ccache,
parallelization, the modules you need, etc.
For me, on a processor i7 2,8 GHz a compilation from scratch with the
following options: --without-junit --enable-ext-nlpsolver
--enable-ext-pdfimport --enable-ext-presenter-console
--enable-ext-presenter-minimizer --with-lang="en-US fr"
--enable-binfilter --enable-graphite --with-system-cairo
--with-max-jobs=2 --with-num-cpus=2 --disable-mozilla

complete build of master take around 1.5 hour

Hmmm, with a fresh profile directory, this beta0 does not open a second

No problem with daily build from 27 nov.
