Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Fixing new spell out numbering styles in LibreOffice 6.1
Hi, I'll add to (or repeat something) what Rimas wrote about Lithuanian. 2018-05-03, kt, 19:58 Németh László rašė: > 1. Are these numbers correct in your language? > Seems to be correct for Lithuanian, however, gender issue arises for ordinal numbers. Moreover, dot is never used as an ordinal indicator in Lithuanian. Instead, either "-as" (masculine) or "-a" (feminine) is appended to a number as an ordinal indicator (again, dependent on the gender). If a year should be spelled out in Lithuanian, it would require yet another form - pronominal plural numeral. 2. Do we need to change the default format etc. according to the normal > usage of your country/language variant? > > For example, in the recent implementation, British English and American > English differ with the “and” > > 101 -> “One hundred and one”: en-AU, en-GB, en-IE, en-NZ > 101 -> “One hundred one”: en-US etc. > If I understand the question correctly, then no. There's only one version of Lithuanian language that suits everyone. And we don't add "and" in the middle of spelled out numerals. 3. Is it enough to support only a single gender in Spanish etc. languages > to cover common outline and page number usage in publishing? > > Book/Part/Chapter/Section/Page/Paragraph One, or simply One (normal usage > in English outline numbering) > First Book/Part/Chapter/Section/Page/Paragraph (less common in English, but > default numbering styles cover this, too) > Numerals have to be adapted to the gender of the noun in Lithuanian. Luckily, there's only two genders and only the last word of the numeral has to be changed according to the gender. Out of the few words that were listed, book, part, section, paragraph are feminine: pirma knyga, pirma dalis, pirma sekcija, pirma pastraipa. Chapter and page are masculine: pirmas skyrius, pirmas puslapis. Numerals usualy go together with noun, I can't think of a common case where there could be number alone. Also, ordinal number always comes before noun, so it's always "first chapter", and never "chapter first" or "chapter one". [libreoffice-l10n] Copying translations from Master to 6.0
Hi, could someone copy Lithuanian (lt) translations from Master branches to 6.0, so that the stable version contains all the translation work that's being done in Master? [libreoffice-l10n] Adding extra tags to the translation of Help
Hi, lacking technical knowledge, I'd like to double check if adding extra tags in the translation of Help would not break anything. When I do so, Pootle complains about critical XML tags errors. Is it safe to mute them? My goal is to unify the appearance of shortcut keys, menu commands, etc. in the translated text. In the original text, only some of them are emphasized using the tags, while in the translation according to my language recommendations I have to either use quotes or emphasize names of commands and keys in a different way (e.g. bold). So is this ok if translated string contains more pairs of tags than the original? [libreoffice-l10n] Slide/Page - Separating strings for Draw and Impress
In Draw and Impress there are respectively Pages and Slides. However, in many places the same UI string is used in both applications. In this way a page is called "page" in Draw, but then "page" is used to call what actually is a slide in Impress, or vice versa. While this might be ok in English, there are completely different terms for "page" and "slide" in Lithuanian (I believe a few other languages, too). Translating the same string to fit both applications is complicated, and the result looks weird... Here's a few examples of such strings in master: Slide/Page Pane context menu: oGDd5||New Page; avSPK||Duplicate Page; 6geGw||Rename page Status bar: 7DqZj||Slide %1 of %2 Tooltip in Slide/Page Pane: hpxsK||Slide Is it possible to separate strings for Draw and Impress so that they can be translated differently? Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Lithuanian translation
Hi Jesús! 2010.10.16 15:18, Jesús Corrius rašė: Labai malonu! Aš laimingas matydamas jus čia. Nice Lithuanian! I'm happy to be here as well. A Lithuanian translation is very welcome in the LibO project. I hope more Lithuanians as brave as you get interested to help you. So far there's to of us - Rimas Kudelis and me. We'll see, if there will be anyone else joining. Viso gero! Iki! [libreoffice-l10n] Lithuanian translation
Hi, good to see this independent community of TDF/LibO starting so well. I'll handle the Lithuanian translation of LibO. I've been translating OOo for several years and now am very eager to continue with LibreOffice. I know, Lithuanian translation of OOo was abandoned for some time, but now I'm trying to catch up. Now, where's that po file I have to get my hands on... :) Best regards, Modestas -- E-mail to l10n+h...@libreoffice.org for instructions on how to unsubscribe List archives are available at http://www.libreoffice.org/lists/l10n/ All messages you send to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
