[libreoffice-l10n] Prepare for builds against ICU 64
Hello all, For information ICU 64 adds new scripts and Unicode blocks from Unicode 12 that need to be handled. This adds 9 new resource strings that will show up for translators, but are not really necessary to be translated; unless a distribution actually builds against ICU 64 they won't be displayed and even then only in very rare circumstances (in Special Characters for fonts containing the glyphs of these new Unicode blocks, unlikely). TDF builds will not be affected as they are built against internal ICU 63. Thanks to Eike, it has been added to 6.3 branch. What I would like to discuss here also is, * once you (or the doc team) have decided to embed a video in the source: ** where is the scenario stored to translate or catch the video ** what is the process to localize (xml or html to change) the embedded file * similarly, once you (or the doc team) have decided to embed an ODF file: ** where do we find the file before you embed it ** what is the process to localize (xml or html to change) the embedded file. Could this be done before it's integrated to the source, meaning we have a dedicated place where to look when we want to translate the content? If it's part of the UI, it should be in Pootle, but you wrote Zahl~format with a tilde in between, is it because the 'f' of format is underlined? is this case you should also search for Zahl_format, because in converted dialogs, the accelerator mark has changed from ~ to _. When I have to search for such string, I download the .po file and do a grep on it, it's much quicker than using the search online. In your case I would search in sc and scaddins. But the quickest way would be to install the KeyID and ask the reporter the path to the string in the menu. I don't understand what you want to achieve here. The space between 'blah;' and 'blubb' is not needed, the help index is build as blah=first level, blubb=second level of indentation. See here for an explanation https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UI_and_Help_files_Content_Guide#.3Cbookmark_value.3E.3C.2Fbookmark_value.3E I won't add any space because as I said it's a great way to recognize that it's an index entry. > > But I will have a closer look in the next days for examples. > I think the patches with this kind of changes in > can wait and lurk in gerrit meanwhile. ;-) > > Others can be merge meanwhile, > b/c the double spaces appear in flowing text only. There are a lot of double spaces added in sentences where it is real spaces (and will have an incidence in the look and quality of the en_US help), I think (I might be wrong) this is the a problem with the help tool that should be corrected, or at least be removed before committing the patch. I've absolutely no time to dedicate to it at the moment, but if someone would like to have a look at it, it would be great. Again I don't see how adding a lot of work for contributors will help them to contribute. There are a lot of typo in the new help content that should be corrected before and not just pushed as is, expecting to be corrected by translators. Asking more and more to them will just push them away as it's already the case for several languages. Sorry but I'm really not happy by this dangerous move, consequences are too high for the moment. Hi all, Wanted your opinion on this patch: https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/40563/ Soon it will be possible to search for unicode names, however this is only possible in English. [libreoffice-l10n] [DE] Autocorrect files for Switzerland and Liechtenstein, patch needed
Hi German team, Referring to this bug: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103156 Do you know if one of you can create a patch or do we need to ping a developer to have the Autocorrect list added? Thanks a lot in advance, Cheers Sophie -- Sophie Gautier sophie.gaut...@documentfoundation.org GSM: +33683901545 IRC: sophi Release coordinator The Document Foundation -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: l10n+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/l10n/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
[libreoffice-l10n] IMPORTANT: do not touch sc/ and formula/
Hi all, Cloph has made a script to auto-translate sc/ and formula/ do not touch them for the moment. He will run the auto translation as soon as Pootle is more responsive. Changes in these files are due to code refactoring and changes in the way strings are referenced in the code. Cloph and me have not been aware of this changes and I'll report that to the ESC today. Sorry for the inconvenience and we hope that will help you in this extra work. And thanks a lot to Cloph for his work on this. I'll keep you updated of the result of the auto-translation.
