However, remember that in the United States, the schools no longer teach students handwriting.(One has to know how to read and write, in order to be accepted into first grade --- the class which historically has taught one how to read and write.) Drawing is classified as "art", and is only taught if their is enough time at the end of the quarter to squeeze it in, and either the teacher, or the parents provide the requisite art materials, at their expense. The school board won't pay for them, because it lacks the funds to do so. As such, if a kid learns to draw on a computer, there are one step ahead of those who failed to learn to draw on a computer. jonathon -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: l10n+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: https://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/l10n/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

The idea of handing a kid 'from 3 to 12' something like this is the sole reason for 'shuddering'. Of course, such outbursts as mine aren't really proper, so my apologies, all. -Yury On 04/12/17 15:46, Tom Davies wrote: I haven't looked into it much so I don't know ... -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: l10n+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: https://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/l10n/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

So, is this such a good idea to hand kids a computer with painting application? Handling the motorics of real-world painting/sculpting/younameit develops the brain in specific areas. Painting application of the kind I see on app's site, with all respect to author's work and intentions, does not. "Ages 3 to 12", for pete's sake!! Shudder. [libreoffice-l10n] Fwd: [Tuxpaint-i18n] Call for translation updates
Dear Friends of FLOSS i18n/L10n, I know this is off-topic for this list, but I assume many of you are also friends of TuxPaint L10n (or would be if you thought about it for a minute). TuxPaint developer Bill Kendrick has announced he is "gearing up for" the first new release in three years in this very mature software and I think it should be seen as a golden opportunity for a L10n sprint to maximize the coverage in as many languages as possible. If anyone wants a Pootle-hosted copy of tuxpaint.po, tuxpaint-stamps.po or tuxpaint-config.po PO files, let me know and I'll set it up on the Sugar Labs Pootle instance (downloading any partially complete files from the canonical site). http://translate.sugarlabs.org Otherwise follow Bill's directions below. cjl -- Forwarded message -- From: Bill Kendrick Date: Sat, Dec 2, 2017 at 6:28 PM Subject: [Tuxpaint-i18n] Call for translation updates To: Tux Paint I18N I'm finally gearing up to release a new Tux Paint (0.9.23), which admittedly won't have much in the way of new features compared to 0.9.22 from three years ago. That said, if you're out here and interested in updating your translations (of any part of the project, or the website), please do so! http://tuxpaint.org/help/po/ (The POT files are available via that page, as well) If you've got a SourceForge account, and are familiar with Git, you can now use it to commit your updates. (We have moved away from CVS, finally.) For more info, start here: http://www.tuxpaint.org/download/source/git/ Thanks in advance! -- -bill!
